1121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the hell should we care about women in bitcoin space? on: May 01, 2015, 11:17:43 PM
I just find the logic in this flawed - acknowledging on the one hand that women have different interests and then trying to use that difference to achieve equality "in Bitcoin".

I'm not trying to "achieve equality in Bitcoin". I just want Bitcoin to be widely used. Most people on this planet are female. That's it.
1122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the hell should we care about women in bitcoin space? on: May 01, 2015, 11:00:39 PM
It's absolutely hilarious how people can claim to be well-meaning and try to bring women "into Bitcoin" by saying that women only care about shopping or "For most women it needs to be easy with a well-known company behind it."

Most women currently don't care much about new technologies. That's not an opinion - I'm just stating a fact.

There are a few exceptions and I'm glad that they exist. The world would be boring if everyone liked the same things.
1123  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: What's your contribution to the Bitcoin ecosystem? on: May 01, 2015, 10:48:29 PM
SEC EDGAR filings would be one way to get them on the record under penalty of perjury. Anyways, I hold.

Those filings don't seem to reveal the exact number of bitcoins held by a company - just the amount of $ per asset type. Any company that wants to make a meaningful contribution to this economy will pay some employees (partly) in Bitcoin or even pay some business partners in Bitcoin - so a lower number in Bitcoin assets could be a positive sign.
1124  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: What's your contribution to the Bitcoin ecosystem? on: May 01, 2015, 09:38:38 PM
Most of my bigger purchases are Bitcoin purchases.

Not spending BTC where it will be immediately converted to fiat to tank the market price.

I wouldn't make decisions based on that. One company could tell you that they're keeping BTC, but actually selling it without your knowledge -- another company might keep them, but doesn't make that public.
1125  Economy / Speculation / Re: Shorts on Bitfinex at a all time high! on: May 01, 2015, 09:27:30 PM
I would certainly avoid an exchange that shows my stops to others. Yes, we need to make sure that exchanges don't profit on this information, but going all public is not a solution IMO.

If an exchange started doing that you could still manually initiate a buy/sell at a certain price using their API - so that information would provide some new insights, but not the full picture of how people are trading.
1126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the hell should we care about women in bitcoin space? on: May 01, 2015, 08:15:29 PM
Commercial applications will get more women to use Bitcoin - most women don't use OpenOffice, but many use Microsoft Office.

For most women it needs to be easy with a well-known company behind it.
1127  Economy / Services / Re: [BUY] - I need to Register 1 .com Domain with Godaddy. on: May 01, 2015, 05:24:21 PM
What's the point of doing that? Do you have to verify your account to register a domain or something?

"SEOCLERKS" doesn't sound like a reliable service. I'd advise anyone who is willing to take this offer to use a trusted escrow.

I normally don't post CD articles in here, but I found this one quite interesting. What exactly are they doing with Bitcoin? Can you buy their movies for BTC or something?

1132  Other / Politics & Society / [VOTE] UK General Election 2015 on: April 28, 2015, 08:18:23 PM
I'm curious how Bitcoin users are voting in the UK General Election - added options for those who are not in the UK as well.

The results are only shown after voting and it's running for 7 days. You can state your reasons below if you want to.

1135  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cryptostocks - Are they Still Relevant? on: April 27, 2015, 09:08:42 PM
Overstock is trying to do something in this section. I guess those cryptostocks could be used to get a small business started - however I'm pretty sure you'll have to comply with the same rules as a company that gets listed on OTC Markets with the benefit of OTC Markets having a good reputation. Some companies are listed on multiple exchanges so it might be possible to get listed on a traditional exchange AND issuing a cryptostock too.

1136  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-04-27] Fortune: Exclusive: Bitcoin company Circle raising new cash on: April 27, 2015, 08:45:00 PM
Im interested in seeing what future services they plan to offer.  They do need to do more then a simple buy and selling  of bitcoin to compete with coinbase and gemini.

Maybe. A simple service to buy and sell bitcoins can be useful too. Coinbase did that correctly, because they are still offering a simple UI only for buying or selling.

Offering short-selling is nice for people who want to trade Bitcoin, but confusing for most people who just want to buy it and use it.

Humanity decided to live by the rules of capitalism.

Who would've made inventions like the internet or Bitcoin if we lived like animals?
