1101  Economy / Speculation / Re: The $GBTC Wall Observer on: May 07, 2015, 08:45:53 PM
The only thing that could be called a 'Wall' right now is the Maxim Group LLC buy order.

Trading volume is slowly increasing and it seems that some people realized that they could just buy BTC on the markets at a lower price.
1102  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: Bitstamp "free trading" on: May 07, 2015, 08:05:01 PM
Bitstamp möchte augenscheinlich mehr Volumen, mir soll's Recht sein. Have phun! Smiley

I've never heard of itbit.  Is it any different then coinbase?

No idea, but I guess they are not the best option for me (I live in Europe). Just try them.

Not sure why they still get invited without significant news as every one knows what they are going to say already.

People love to write stories about Bitcoin and the Winklevoss twins own a lot of BTC.

I hope they'll be able to launch the Winklevoss Bitcoin Trust and Gemini once the BitLicense is finalized.
1106  Local / Biete / Re: [UPDATE] Biete 5kg Silberbarren gegen 14 BTC / München on: May 07, 2015, 12:08:01 PM

1107  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 07, 2015, 11:34:39 AM
Sometimes I'm placing sell orders slightly above the current asking price just to see how stable the market is - cancelling them if it gets too close.
1108  Economy / Service Discussion / Who else is a *loyal* Bitstamp customer? on: May 07, 2015, 09:29:57 AM
I just got this message from Bitstamp:

Quote

Yes, you read correctly! Your account now has 0% trading fee.

You have been selected to participate in our exclusive promotional campaign where we have selected a handful of loyal Bitstamp customers to participate. Enjoy trading with Bitstamp!

Makes me wonder if that's really just "a handful of loyal Bitstamp customers" or basically everyone.

Case Is An Insanely Secure Hardware Bitcoin Wallet

It's expensive at 199 USD, but it also comes with more features than Ledger or TREZOR (doesn't require a computer or smartphone)

I just noticed that it mentions an online store, probably this one: https://www.lionsgateshop.com – looks like you can order their movies on BluRay there.
1114  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-04-30] USA Today: Trading bitcoin is about to get a whole lot easier on: May 02, 2015, 10:06:15 PM
I hope these exchanges will all be "audited" on a regular basis, to prevent this type of scenario.

As a business in NYC they will have to follow some rules...
1115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Goldman & Investors put $50 Million in Bitcoin Industry on: May 02, 2015, 09:22:01 PM

That was a rhetorical question. Why would you even think that I would think that such scenario would be possible?
That's wrong. Define available? On the market? He would run out of funds after a certain amount of Bitcoin have been sold. You have to factor in people who won't sell unless you give them $100 000 per Bitcoin.

Of course you won't be able to buy all Bitcoins, but you will probably get more than 4 million BTC for 1 billion USD (right now)
1116  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What's the largest Bitcoin purchase so far? on: May 02, 2015, 06:15:43 PM
I just realized that I have no idea what the largest Bitcoin purchase (in terms of fiat money) is.

I found this article here, but 500k USD is not really much - is that really the biggest Bitcoin purchase?
1117  Economy / Economics / Re: China's currency is worth double that of USD. WTF? How is this possible? on: May 02, 2015, 03:33:32 PM
Population of the U.S.: ~318.9 million

Population of China: ~1.357 billion

Many trades are denominated in U.S. dollars (oil, gold, ....), but that doesn't affect the M2 money supply.
1118  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-04-29] Financial Times: Coinbase opens bitcoin exchange in UK on: May 02, 2015, 03:09:17 PM
Until they get a UK bank account and access to FPS (permanently, not just for two weeks until they piss the bank off) this really isn't particularly a game-changer.

They bank in Estonia, requiring SEPA. Domestic UK transfers are instant with FPS, when (not if) coinbase get a UK bank on board, I would personally switch from Stamp in a heartbeat.

Whoa, I wish we had banks offering instant transfers. Do you have higher fees for this type of transaction?

What trading features does Coinbase offer at the moment? They are not offering futures / margin trading so far, right?
1119  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Bitcoin wallet that gives interest upon deposit? on: May 02, 2015, 04:40:23 AM
Find out what they are doing with your money and who's behind the company you're planning to use.

Keep in mind that you won't have access to your funds for a while.
1120  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US Dollar hyperinflation on: May 01, 2015, 11:48:04 PM
I don't see it happening any time soon - maybe in Russia or Iceland, but not in the US.
