1722  Other / Off-topic / Re: am i the only bitcoin user that has never seen silk road? on: November 07, 2012, 07:01:21 PM
It's not just drugs, but I think most things are illegal in many countries (at least somewhere in the world)

I never bought anything from SR, but I registered an account a year ago to see what's happening there.

Quote from: MysteryMiner
Not only drugs. There is also a legitimate computer equipment and electronics like video cards and cables or flashlights. But use different SR username and shipping address if you are going to buy legal item. They might be cops trying to harvest user shipping addresses and other information.

Maybe… some SR users are even talking about it using their real names on the clearnet…

It should be more like 1 minute. I'm pretty sure most of the posts you write in less than 20 seconds are something like "+1" or "me too"- not really worth a new post. (tbh I also made some posts like that)
1724  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MTGOX ordering DDOS ATTACKS!?!?!?!!? on: October 27, 2012, 12:40:04 PM
Proof?

Sounds like BTC-e is trying to get some Mt.Gox customers Tongue

Well played BTC-e.

FWIW: I'm 99.9% sure Mark wouldn't spend money to DDoS other exchanges or start a DDoS from his servers.

Berni:

Quote from: Berni

Quote from: Berni

1727  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is it worth it to do the whole openWRT thing on your router? on: October 25, 2012, 09:21:22 PM
Anyone here do this? I've always wanted to do this over the years but never got around to it. I hear lots of good things but I'm not sure if it's really worth it or not.

IMO It's worth it.

I currently have a Netgear WNDR3800 running as a switch behind my router and it works very good (using OpenWRT).
1728  Economy / Services / Re: Wonder how much would it cost to hack and get an m@teu.sz email on: October 25, 2012, 02:31:38 PM
yes but I would like to point it to my email server to get an m@teu.sz email address
but it is not possible to register .sz domains :
http://www.sispa.org.sz/

It looks like someone could hack it, but that's probably not a DNS server of the .sz zone.
Also: I'm pretty sure your email won't work for more than a few weeks.... (if someone manages to add a new .sz domain for you *lol*)
1729  Economy / Services / Re: Wonder how much would it cost to hack and get an m@teu.sz email on: October 25, 2012, 01:51:10 PM
What are you talking about? teu.sz doesn't seem to point to any server…
1730  Local / Biete / Re: Biete Programmierdienste! on: October 25, 2012, 01:42:30 PM

Was sehen hier manche Leute?

1732  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The right way to bring the bitcoin value up 10x in 6 months enstabilishing it on: October 19, 2012, 12:31:07 PM
No, absolutely wrong.

The biggest thing people don't realize is that 1) there are advantage using bitcoin 2) its not a scam, you can really buy things online using it.

Of course you can really buy things online using it, but do you remember the $30 bubble? People spread the word and crashed it.

Having a website visited by 10m people daily accepting bitcoin a would be a fantastic way of spreading this concept.

And then this service cashes out in USD and the value is pretty much the same (maybe a few bucks more)…

Once this concept spread, the rest will come by itself.

Disagreed.

People are hungry of the financial system as of now.

That's true, but your strategy of spreading the word and contributing nothing won't bring Bitcoin to $50…$100……
1733  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The right way to bring the bitcoin value up 10x in 6 months enstabilishing it on: October 19, 2012, 12:13:16 PM
IMO, the only thing we have to do is to spread the word.

The word is that you can buy things online with bitcoin. It's safe and easy. It's the Internet concurrency made from the Internet for the Internet.

So you're telling everyone to use a currency and all you contribute is "spreading the word" and hoarding them? That's not real value you're adding, it's speculative value……(building a bubble...."get rich quick")

Of course Bitcoin has advantages, but we need to add value by adding products and services if we want Bitcoin to become successful.

If the company "accepts Bitcoin" for payment it won't add a lot of real value to the economy (just a lot of speculative value) - however if they actually use the Bitcoin income (e.g. to pay for the servers, development, etc.) instead of converting back to fiat it would probably add much more.

^^using it since March- told some Bitcoin users about it

Edit: Just looked up the website again - now I'm upgrading to v6.0.
1736  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anomalous $1bn trade on MtGox on: October 12, 2012, 03:33:17 PM
Why does this trade not show up on any of the charting sites?

What happened that day?

It was a bug.

1738  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Suspicious network activity - someone already mining with ASICS? on: October 09, 2012, 06:40:47 AM
And this *someone* might have overdone it a little - and now slowing it down a little so that it's not too obvious ...

Maybe it was just BFL testing the 1,500 Ghash/s rigs.

Would you stop ASICS, because it'd be too obvious? I don't understand it.
Maybe someone stopped a huge rig to avoid a 51% attack and making the mined BTC worthless? (looking at the "unknown" miners)

1740  Other / Off-topic / Re: Akinator doesn't know Satoshi Nakamoto on: October 07, 2012, 02:15:56 PM
After few rounds he will ask you about name and short description of a person. If enough people Answer his questions and write Satoshis name in the end, he will remember him.

Done. I've also added him to the german version  Smiley
