1941  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When Can Bitcoin Be Mainstream? on: October 31, 2017, 08:02:40 AM

We have heard the term 'mainstream' every now and then in connection with Bitcoin and cryptocurrency for that matter. It has been a very good topic in this forum and even in social media. Apparently, Bitcoin has not yet been considered to have passed the mainstream status all because only a certain percentage of the population have heard about it and got into it...even with the continuing coverage of the mainstream media and some famous personalities also getting into Bitcoin and even endorsing its adoption.

Now, am wondering, when can we say that Bitcoin is already part of the mainstream? Should we require a billion people to be holders of the coin? Or maybe the value of Bitcoin to have surpassed that of Facebook or Google? Or would it be the whole of your neighborhood already have some Bitcoin in their wallet app?

Please share the kind of scenario you think must happen before we can say that Bitcoin is now part and parcel of the mainstream population...
Bitcoin becoming Mainstream is going to take a few more years, all factors that you mention will take place because there is a relationship between one and the the other. Like for example like you said, one billion people be holders of bitcoin, they will be having bitcoin in their wallets, and more the people get involved with bitcoin more demand rises and so does the price and hence it becomes mainstream.
1942  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another wall street idiot, this time, Jordan Belfort calls bitcoin a fraud. on: October 31, 2017, 05:39:21 AM
Wall street idiots don't have a proper knowledge on what bitcoin is, they don't do their damn homework and say whatever bull shit comes to their mind. Don't consider their opinions, consider it as an illiterate dumbass who knows nothing at all about bitcoin trying to explain bitcoin, it's just a waste of time for you.
1943  Economy / Speculation / Re: Tomorrow, All Chinese Exchangers are going to shutdown on: October 31, 2017, 05:03:17 AM
1/11/2017 is the dead line given by China authority, major Chinese Exchangers are going to shutdown tomorrow.
Any one telling you something is re-opening in China or China gov is secretly allowing crytos trading or Chinese unicorn is farting out new exchangers, are fudders.

okcoin.cn:
"从10月31日24时起,OKCoin币行(www.okcoin.cn)将停止人民币和比特币交易,大家可以随时提现人民币至自己的银行卡;对于数字资产,大家也可以提现至其他平台或钱包。"
"from 31/10 24:00 okcoin.cn stops CNY/BTC trading, go withdraw now!"

huobi.com:
"公告:关于火币网(www.huobi.com)10月31日停止交易的公告"
"huobi.com stop trading after 31/10"

btcchina.com:
"2. 比特币中国将按照9月14日公告所示,准时在9月30日中午12:00关停一切交易,包括人民币和数字资产的交易,以及币币交易;
3. 平台数字资产及人民帀的最终提现截止时间为10月30日中午12:00;用户如不想保留数字资产,请尽快兑换成人民币再进行提现;"
"Last warning, deadline for you to withdraw is 30/10 mid 12:00"

Some of these exchangers recently registered aboard with new domains trading USD Tether/BTC pairs, they don't accept CNY deposit nor Withdrawal, they might not even accept clients from China and US. in fact, they can't even accept USD deposit directly, that's why they go for Tether. such as:
huobi.pro by huobi.com
okex.com and okcoin.com by okcoin.cn
etc..

Remind everyone here, these fake foreign exchangers are operating under the same people in China, China gov can raid them over night. be caution trading on any of them. tether.to is also risky to be cracked down by the US authority just like btc-e code, using ".to" domain to get away from domain seizing by FBI & VeriSign is good but that's not enough, use it at your own risk.

Didn't huobi say goodbye to crypto world yesterday? I read a article saying that huobi has officially withdrawn all it's relationships with crypto world. Was it a fake article? Damn I hate those.
Btw there might be a slight possibility of trading back in China but it's not official yet on if the government is ready for it or not. These fake exchanges look scary, and today is Halloween as well. Hopefully no one becomes a victim of these sites.
1944  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do u think bitcoin value in 2018 will be $ 15K? on: October 31, 2017, 04:10:44 AM
Do u think bitcoin in 2018 will be $ 15K?

What is your idea guys?
15k $,damn that's too high, and it would be better if it remains in this level only, market crash would be even more tragic if it occurs, the inequality of income gap between the rich and the poor will also increase as rich people will get richer and richer and poor people poorer. But bitcoin is volatile, you can't predict also. Let things work how ever they wish, we can just support it.
1945  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why do we keep converting bitcoin back to dollars ? on: October 30, 2017, 08:55:59 AM
It's almost like we don't value it for itself, but what it's worth in "real" money.
That's because you need to have some Money with you in real life and keeping it in bitcoin forever will only work if you super damn rich and have a well set job and no financial troubles no matter what. So one day or the other you will need to cash out your crypto currency.
1946  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Not The Best? But... on: October 30, 2017, 07:51:27 AM

We are now swimming in the sea of coins and tokens as the cryptocurrency marketplace is expanding astronomically for the past many months. We are into the barrage of new ICOs almost everyday...therw versions of Bitcoin, new idea of a cryptocurrency and sometimes also strange projects which can be hard to fathom and let alone swallow intellectually.

There are those who believe that actually Bitcoin is not the best cryptocurrency though it is the first and the original. Others are pointing the problem of the Bitcoin network consuming a huge load of electricity to power up its mining operation...this can be a big problem not just in terms of cost but also because we are now entering the green revolution (a solution is of course using renewable power supply).

Bitcoin is not really so anonymous which give rise to Monero or Bytecoin, coins performing much better along this realm. We also have the powerful miners having such a great influence and decision control over the community. Compared to Ethereum or even XEM, we still have to see a myriad of extra utilities  or features which can convey to us that indeed Bitcoin is the future.

With all of these problems (or maybe we can call them as challenges), Bitcoin will still be the most important and the top cryptocurrency primarily because it has the largest or the biggest or the most widespread or the most dynamic network of acceptance. Do you agree?
I agree that bitcoin will dominate the world in terms of crypto currency acceptance because people who don't use or know bitcoin think that either it's a ponzi scheme and hardly people know that there are other cryptos except than bitcoin also.
Mining is so costly and is not environment friendly unfortunately, one of it's biggest drawbacks.
1947  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Website mining Bitcoin without permission? on: October 30, 2017, 05:42:28 AM
After reading about the Pirate Bay hijacking web miners (https://gizmodo.com/the-pirate-bay-added-a-cpu-hijacking-bitcoin-miner-to-s-1818488143) I wondered if anyone had created a list of such sites. How would you even detect that the site is stealing compute power from your device?
I don't think there is any kind of software that takes care of mining without permission, it's their website that does all the shady stuff, this is one of the easy ways for pirate sites to earn revenues and even though it's illegal they do it because pirating is also illegal.
1948  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wozniak: Bitcoin is better than gold AND the dollar! on: October 30, 2017, 05:06:03 AM
Steve Wozniak, aka "The Woz," co-founder of Apple recently had this to say about bitcoin:

There is a certain finite amount of bitcoin that can ever exist. Gold gets mined and mined and mined. Maybe there's a finite amount of gold in the world, but bitcoin is even more mathematical and regulated and nobody can change mathematics.

He also simultaneously crapped on the USD, citing its potential for inflation as near infinite, thus rendering it "kind of phony" as a currency. Unfortunately, as far as fiat currencies are concerned, the USD is still technically the best (and least volatile) currency in existence.

Personally I believe he's both right and wrong. The USD is kind of like democracy: "the worst form of government except for all others tried."

And of course there's a finite amount of gold. Technically, new gold gets created but the process probably takes hundreds of millions or billions of years....

In any case, as far as bitcoin is concerned, this endorsement is pretty, pretty, pretty good... as Larry David might say.
Why do I have such a feeling saying that whatever these big people from big companies and the related have been talking good about bitcoin of late because they want fame or is it that they also want to manipulate the market when no one notices, or is it something else. So whatever people are going to state about bitcoin is somewhat hard to believe, anyhow no matter what us currency is going to be there for at least 10-40 years, and gold for like a century even if its availability in the mines gets extinct because of the large supply all over the world.
1949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO Legality on: October 29, 2017, 08:18:05 AM
Some countries don't allow people to invest in ICOs. Why is that? They don't allow ICO that issues dividends and represents the shares of a company, or they just ban all the ICOs?
They don't like random people who comes out of nowhere from a third party country ending up cheating the investors from their country. There is a mindset in the government's mind that ICOS are only meant to to scam people. The security exchanges of those countries are keeping a close eye on crytpo related events happening.
1950  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I HAVE 50.000 dollars to invest, help please! on: October 29, 2017, 06:44:28 AM
hi everyone?
first of all let me just say that I am a huge fan of this forum.

So where I am right now is that I have around 50 k to invest in crypto currencies.
My first thought was buying as many antminer l3+ as I could and then keep them in a hosting facility that I found.
then I thought that I should spil 50/50 between mining for litecoins and getting hardware to mine for ethereum.

I know that I am late to the game but I am still hoping that it is profitable.

I would just like to know what would you do ?

thanks for any tips!
Mining is not the only way for one to earn. There is trading man, an amazing opportunity for one to explore and get rich if correct steps are taken. And if you're willing to go for mining, one thing you need to avoid is cloud mining. It's shit and is only for stealing innocent people's money. Also if you're willing to invest in ICOS then you better be careful, it's risky and not every ICO out there is legit. Do your own research and then go for it.
1951  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buy altcoins or not? on: October 29, 2017, 05:33:02 AM
Should we invest in altcoins?and why?which is better altcoins or equity shares?
Both require a certain amount of patience and the thing with equity shares is that you won't face any legal issues. But then the brokers that you would go to for buying and selling shares, will cost you a big amount of fees indirectly. But it's fun at the same time investing in shares, whenever price goes up or down you will be like holy shit. Altcoins give you way more than 100% profit, so it's your decision on where you're willing to invest.
1952  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BITTREX (How long we need to wait a case classified as a criminal?) on: October 29, 2017, 03:20:33 AM
~Snip~
Oh my lord...That's so damn terrible. Never seen bittrex doing such things before ,and 16 days is too much.
Maybe this is being done because of SEC going after bittrex, so bittrex wants to be "compliant" with the rules and regulations. What else can they do ,for them blocking a few accounts is better than losing than millions of dollars.
Don't give up on your money thats there in bittrex,be careful next time you create a account and keep big amounts of money in it.
Maybe you're living in a country which is there in the OFAC list. If you don't know what OFAC is,its a regulation kind of thing in US,you're not supposed to have any sort of trade related to US,or other countries which are  associated with US.
Here is a link of OFAC:- https://www.treasury.gov/about/organizational-structure/offices/Pages/Office-of-Foreign-Assets-Control.aspx
Usually, only banks and the like use this as a tool for their due diligence whenever required.
As of OFAC stuff:
Once a user signs up with Bittrex s/he reveals her/his residency and nationality information in the verification process ultimately. In my case, even before going through sign-up process with this site, I explicitly asked about my situation as an Iranian with them and they officially informed me they are ok with it and they have no discriminative policy to be applied here, so I signed up and went through extended verification process.

Now, let's assume that things have changed and they are pushed by a dumb head in Trump's administration to keep people like me out of the cryptocurrency ecosystem (what a messy idea). Obviously it doesn't happen overnight and suddenly. If Bittrex was anything other than a cheap scammer, they should warn me to close my account, withdrawing my funds, saying goodbye.

Instead, apparently they have found it more juicy to 'borrow' my coins (like thousands of other people) now for 16 days (and perhaps forever).

So, I think it is nothing more than a scam, they may have lost users' funds in some kind of a gambling (like pumping some shit coin, as they are used to)  or not, it is just about their escalated greed. Either way, they are scammers and should be prosecuted properly and if Trump is so busy ruining America forever and his General attorney or FBA don't give a damn, it doesn't mean Bittrex can get away with this scam. I can guarantee this, they will pay for it.
Bittrex might have said that their won't be any issues, and no discrimination policy would have also been mentioned. But the thing is now that crypto currency is a new trend for people, and a lot of scamming is taking place, the US security board, SEC has been strictly monitoring US crypto related companies and stuff.
I don't think bittrex is a scam because till now not all the accounts are blocked, and they are still operating. Maybe they are scared that the SEC might shut them down if they don't take any action, so maybe just maybe that's the reason.
1953  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BITTREX (How long we need to wait a case classified as a criminal?) on: October 28, 2017, 12:14:05 PM
What should 0.1% of BITTREX user do?
What should i do?
How long we need to wait a case classified as a criminal?

I can't say too much anymore, i'm exhausted
I have a basic verified account with $8K worth in it.
No access to bittrex.slack.com
Nothing to do just wait, even waiting forever.
Atleast i can withdraw my leftover funds.

Here something you can read about :

The last thing i can do:

1954  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin to Watch on: October 28, 2017, 09:40:38 AM
With bitcoin value sky rocketing every other day, and more likely it will continue even after the fork. All altcoins are suffering so far, the affect is so bad that people who bought alts with their bitcoin on an exchange even a couple of months ago, have lost more than 50% of their initial investment.

So now, my question is to the hopeful, the pessimist, the analyst and the predictors; Which altcoin will break the shackles? Which one or two do you think will rise next.
Not talking about ICOs here, only the more established alts that are in top 20 of market cap.

I say Bitcoin Cash,it's finally increasing, all hopes for bitcoin gold in vain and no one would have thought that bitcoin cash will ever recover from 300$ after the crash. The price has been on a constant rise and has gone till 394$. Shitcoin's first day faced DDOS attack and people are laughing at its miserability. Bitcoin cash accomplished way more than that, it surely gets the credit. Now another fork is coming which is a rather serious one than the shitcoin bitcoin gold fork.
1955  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Wish I never bought altcoins on: October 28, 2017, 09:06:06 AM
Would have been much better off just leaving everything in bitcoin. Altcoins suck.
Ey, stop losing hope, you still have a long long way to go unless you are like 80 years old. Why would just hold your bitcoin, that sucks. Be a trader, a investor,be the person who you wish to be. Altcoins they don't guarantee you a profit all the time, it's time and market conditions that fluctuates the price. Chill down, wait for some time and you'll be back on track. All you need is some sort of motivation bruh.
1956  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you expect a crash soon ? Or you see bitcoin keep climbing ? on: October 28, 2017, 08:22:08 AM
Feel free to free your thoughts bitcoiners Cool. We are aproaching a major point of the bitcoin bull run so now let's watch the bitcoin rally very very close.
Isn't it obvious? There are so many predictors shouting at you that market is going to crash.

But then what might avoid such a catastrophic circumstance is that there is a proper fork coming up this November and unlike the bitcoin gold shitfork, its more legit. So if the markets can go so high for a shitfreecoin, the price can go way more higher than that.

One thing I noticed is that non day-traders who have invested in altcoins are so scared because of the fact that alts have been on the down rail for like 2-4 weeks and they think if this continues to go on,alts will lose its appeal. But then such a situation will never be forced to arise, the markets will go back to normal after the Segwit2X I believe.
1957  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin rise to $500k in three years? on: October 27, 2017, 01:12:16 PM
So guys, what do you think about McAfee prediction - will Bitcoin jump to $500 000 till August 2020?
This is way way more than crazy, just the idea of it. 500k dollars per bitcoin ,damn I'll be a Millionaire and I'll just screw my job over and live happily ever after. I'll trade and increase my inventory and not worry about it. Me and my friends will hang out everyday Cool.
But at the end of the day its just a prediction and nothing else, some one claimed that the world will end in 2012,did it happen, sadly no. If it had all the bastards would have died including me but eh predictions don't turn out to be true.

1958  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Confirmation are taking forever to process, is it only me? on: October 27, 2017, 09:52:00 AM
I did a transfer of bitcoin between my wallet and an exchange wallet to cash out some and the hash was presented immediately but 3 hours later not even a single confirmation on the blockchain. Is it only me or the all system is erratic and crazy after the fork?
Are you also experiencing something like that? how long it took your confirmations?
A lot of people do have such similar issues and the reason is that they don't want to pay high amount of fees no matter how low or high amount of bitcoin they are doing transaction of. So if you pay a higher fee,you will get confirmations less than 1 hour,if you pay less ,then I don't know how many days it will take.

Not only you but only me, after the hard fork of bitcoin gold I noticed that every transactions are now taking so long. And base on https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions the number of unconfirmed transactions are now quadrupled. The last time I saw it, that was only 11k unconfirmed transactions and now it was 46k and keeps on increasing that can possibly reach up to 50k. I hate when that day comes again and we'll see 100k unconfirmed transactions.

Bitcoin Gold has not even activated yet , all they did was take a snapshot of the blockchain.
It has nothing to do with anything.

This is all because segshitcoin 1X is inferior and never increased their blocksize or blockspeed.

╥Aztek

Problem is 47494 Unconfirmed Transactions on segshitcoin 1x
https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions

Unless you want to spend $20 for a transaction fee on segshitcoin,

use Bitcoin Cash or Litecoin instead as long as the segshitcoin's unconfirmed transactions are over 7000 Unconfirmed Transactions.
Holy crap, that's really bad, bitcoin gold failed the hopes of people is what is left to say? Wow,that's is something that a lot of people expected bitcoin gold. Thats what you can expect when some random unknown developers claim to do,make block sizes smaller. Sure, why not. A lot of those promises have been proven ,haven't they? Roll Eyes
1959  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: My Investment Ideas (For a short term) on: October 26, 2017, 08:51:49 PM
Hello everyone I did some analysis and research and I came up with investment ideas. However, I'm not a broker or a financial professional so this post is not an investment advice. I just wanna share my thoughts. Also my previous prediction about btc when price was around $3000 : https://www.cryptocompare.com/coins/btc/post/p_176871

1) DASH/BTC (Predicted Profit:40%): I think this may be a good time to get a long position on dash/btc pair my analysis shows 40% ROI can occur in a month. In other words, DASH can go up to 0.07 from 0.049 in a month.

2) BTC/USD: (Predicted Profit:15%): This one is I think very risky move beacuse btc could quickly return from bear market to bull market but same analyze technique shows that btc can drop to at least $5000.

3) XRP/USD: (Predicted Profit:25%): Ripple can increase to 0.25 point from 0.2 in a two to three week.

Notes: Time periods are wider than actual ones which analysis shows and of course you're responsible if you perform any investment based on these ideas again I'm not a broker or a financial professional and this post is not an investment advice.

Edit: I also wanna add that I think we might see a flash crash in the US Stock Market. Finally, I wanna thank all of you guys for your response
Bitcoin should be increasing once again it as there is going to be another fork. Be careful on what you wish to do.
Dash has been a little bit stable and like you said there is a high possibility to increase, agreed.
XRP had gone really down because of the fork, so not the only ripple we are going to see a few altcoins being pumped and dumped in a short span of time.
1960  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins grows, alts go down, bitcoin goes down, alts go down even more - why? on: October 26, 2017, 08:11:59 AM
Hi guys. I'm quite new in crypto world (2 months) and trying to understand what's actually going on on the market. The thing is when Bitcoins grows, alts go down (or just don't grow), bitcoin goes down, alts go down even more - why? I don't exactly understand it and feel confused when to trade or invest. I mostly talk about ETH, LTC, Monero and other from top.

Thank you.
That's how markets function? Prices go up and down due various factors? Bitcoin is the foundation and if it drops, alts also drop. Bitcoin mostly goes down because of rumors that create fear in the minds of people, which results in immediate panic selling and altcoins mostly drop because of decreased demand and pump and dump policy of investors.
