1361  Other / Meta / Re: Members in this forum are abusing the merit system on: April 24, 2018, 10:00:41 PM
14 posts of mine deleted today and he just deletes what he wants even when the post are well on topic and he's quit happy for party faithful member to
become abuse and says naff all about (His thugs they are) but then gives shit out when you fight back.
Am pretty sure achow101 is not the "nazi" here. You're the one who is fighting back and you clearly are butt-hurt. Damn those good old germans. Love their temper, anyone feeling nostalgic?
Anyhow,if it helps you feel better,my posts gets deleted often,i just don't give a fuck about it,and move on.. Your ex-girlfriend should have thought you that Undecided
Your posts are informative and you're not even there in a sig campaign,so why are you pissed out here. Just chill out.
1362  Other / Meta / Re: Application for a merit source on: April 24, 2018, 09:54:00 PM
I have seen you around for long time and I have a believe that you have the ability to do the job. It's a responsibility for the community and I wish you do your job with success (if you become one).

I always believe, we need more merit source and more mods to make this forum better place.

Good luck mate.
Thank you very much.
Good luck to you too!
1363  Other / Meta / Re: Mark as Read if Seen in Preview on: April 24, 2018, 09:45:42 PM
Alright there is no v-link feature in the watchlist,I did my check. My bad.
Now back to your issue,I tried doing the same thing that you did,but in my case, the thread did disappear aka I read the thread and it disappeared from my watchlist. Can you check again and see what happened?
1364  Economy / Services / Re: A simple bitcoin Q/A. Learn new and interesting stuff about bitcoin. on: April 24, 2018, 09:32:02 PM
Not gonna copy some crap from google but my ans is purely from my point of view

Lightining network from what i have heard was a solution to the slow transaction speed and high fees , though even the speed has increased and fees has gone significantly low you can't really call bitcoin a lightning network. The lightining original was found in ltc roadmap it was going to be implemented but don't know why the delay

Lightining network allows us to transfer coins with faster confirmation like we saw in ripple , xlm and many other coins
It's role is just enhancing user experience while they are transferring funds
Like i said above facts are just told from what i know even if it's wrong i would be happy to learn more about it

Edit: Just saw what darkstar posted on your campaign thread : https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/7pwna9/lightning_network_megathread/ all those who don't want to learn but just behind merits refer this
It was not everything I was looking for,but there was some useful information about it and you put some thought into it. So,I'll give you a merit, even though you may not be a native English speaker.
I am still looking for good answers.
1365  Economy / Services / Re: A simple bitcoin Q/A. Learn new and interesting stuff about bitcoin. on: April 24, 2018, 07:35:33 PM
Since the lightning network is becoming more popular now,a lot of people are really confused on what actually it is.  So here's a question about it:

Question: What is lightning network? What's its role and what does it do?

I am looking for a simple answer or basically in layman's terms,so that people can actually understand.

I am eagerly waiting for the next question.
Oh crap,I almost forgot..
Don't post just because you have to earn a merit. I am seeing a lot of one/two liners just being rephrased from third party websites. Please understand what you're writing. Or just don't do anything rather.
1366  Other / Meta / Re: Post the proof of your hacked account here on: April 24, 2018, 07:28:12 PM
Things people do for merit.... Embarrassed
1367  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion : Merit Jail on: April 24, 2018, 04:59:10 PM
I don't think if someone already has said in this thread or not,but a lot of people create accounts for asking questions related to issues they have with cryptos or to know why they are banned and the like. These people mostly don't care about merit, which is good. So why should they pay for the actions caused by literal dumbfucks who's only motive is to earn from this forum.
And theymos believes in freedom of speech and stuff like that,he wouldn't do anything like that. Spamming has comparatively reduced. It has become smart spamming but still.
These sort of restrictions are not required right now, merit is doing its job very well. Only people who have their sole objective to earn via bounty/airdrops/sig campaigns are unhappy about this merit situation as they have to rank up.
1368  Other / Meta / Re: Has anyone noticed this?? on: April 23, 2018, 04:24:26 PM
Just PM the list of accounts doing this to mprep or hilariousandco, since these users are clearly breaking the rules, they shall be either banned/nuked.
1369  Other / Meta / Re: Any restrictions for this kind of attitude? on: April 23, 2018, 12:41:41 PM
Theymos's stance on such behaviour:
It occurred to me that I should write a little about this in case anyone's wondering about what dogie's doing, or why other people are getting banned for somewhat similar activity:

Ads are typically not allowed in posts (outside of the signature area) because they are annoying and off-topic. It is especially disallowed to put ads or signatures at the bottom of all of your posts. Except for traditional valedictions, which are tolerated but discouraged, signatures are for the signature area only.

However, if you are using the forum as a publishing platform to host something really substantial and useful, selling ads in that substantial work is allowed. To be eligible for this, your post must be in a topic that you started, and your post must be substantial and long enough to make the ad seem entirely insignificant. If in doubt, ask me.

1370  Other / Meta / Re: It's no wonder we are infested with bounty and airdrop spammers on: April 23, 2018, 12:58:45 AM
Ah, that video was just a basic tutorial for idiots.  I was expecting a tutorial on how to game the system, but this was obviously made by some illiterate teenager in some country far, far away.

It was the next video in the playlist that had me more concerned, because it was about how to join signature campaigns.  The guy did a great job explaining it, I'll give him that, but the mere existence of it makes my skin crawl.  Part of what he says:  "This is your opportunity to get rich.  If you're a teenager with no money or no job, this is a way to start.  I mean all you have to do is give a little of your time and to be engaged.  And then you earn bitcoin guys, it's that simple."

Added LOL was the comments on the video.  Exactly the comments we see on bitcointalk.
This is not the only video that shows how to earn money on bitcointalk. Here's another one : https://youtube.com/watch?v=v5-SaZWm88o
I happened to mention this like 2-3 months ago here, and then the thread got dissolved into a classic let's spam here thread.
This doesn't end here, I just searched "bitcointalk" on YouTube and here were the first 5 results :
Wait for it... Image is loading
Again, it doesn't end there. Here are articles on how to earn money on bitcointalk :
https://steemit.com/bitcointalk/@akhilesh10/how-to-make-money-on-bitcointalk
https://deeponion.org/community/threads/how-to-make-money-on-bitcointalk.8600/
https://99bitcoins.com/how-to-earn-bitcoins-fast-free/
https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-earn-bitcoins-without-any-investments
I am pretty sure I can find much more, but then again we have seen worse like making Facebook groups to remove The Pharmacist from DT .
1371  Economy / Services / Re: [FULL] ChipMixer Signature Campaign | 0.00075 BTC/post on: April 22, 2018, 01:54:31 PM
Payments for this week have been sent. (e0f5b80dccc18c83f57d12c8cbef2a1ebeb8c0370fac56a6ad272ff8808a5275)

Anyone want to get paid via Lightning Network?   Tongue Cheesy
Sure,I'd like to learn about it,both theoretically and practically. So first let me begin with understanding its concepts.
I'm being (semi) serious. Still doing research and figuring out how to set up an LN node right now, but it would be possible Soon™
Will it be sort of enforced or would it be optional?
I'd join in on the testing of this. I can't really find good information about it, but it seems interesting from what I have been able to find. Want to PM me some information on it?
I wouldn't  mind getting some good info on LN too.. May I hop in as an unwanted, reckless scum? Undecided
1372  Other / Archival / Re: [Raffleception] Win tickets to the Satori + goodies raffle 8/16 Tickets left on: April 21, 2018, 12:20:26 AM
But I'll condone a free ticket to this raffleception for the first person to name the item on which my forum handle is written in black pen. GO
A tissue paper? Grin
1373  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Exchange security? on: April 20, 2018, 11:49:20 PM
Real newbie question here. Sorry but here goes.

Do folks use different passwords for each exchange they use?
Obviously yes.
If you find it hard to remember all of your passwords, I'd suggest you to keep an offline phone or any device and install the lastpass application. You can download it from here : lastpass.com, it'd better for you to buy the paid one. Also remember that you need to always keep your 2FA enabled.
1374  Other / Meta / Re: For forum nostalgics - how data show forum evolution on: April 20, 2018, 11:16:55 PM
Actually, this thread is not about the merit system, but forum statistics.
That's what they all said Undecided
The basic idea is to see how much the core forum meta components have shifted over time: users, posts, how focus of attention has moved from one board to another and so on. It is a historical perspective, and not one that kicks off after the merit system was introduced. We are after all in the meta section...

I can’t really find many post like this one at all. Don’t get me wrong this time, but there’s no triviality in the making, so that’s likely to be the reason.

Can’t see the trolling side to it either. Rest asure though that if I detect my posts becoming non-interest, I really can shift my attention to other things in life just as easily.
I read your post, was very informative yes. And you're/may be right this post is different than others. Though I applaud you for all the time and effort you spent on doing this,my main point was not to discourage you specifically.
What I was highlighting was the fact that, after the merit system had been implemented, people started making these sort of analysis, related to this forum. These analysis is helpful for some people, and the person who makes these data analysis receives a few merit(because they rightfully deserve it),so what I am focusing on is,people will use this method just to earn merits, which is bad.
1375  Other / Meta / Re: Solution to stop Newbie-Jr.Member spamming on: April 20, 2018, 10:10:03 PM
Eh...
This topic has been discussed in the past, and most of the community(the real one) has decided that this is a big no go for obvious reasons. Mods are overloaded with work already. Not a good enough suggestion.
And the hell is merit system for? To discourage spamming of course.
1376  Other / Meta / Re: Moving bitcoin price topics from Bitcoin discussion to Speculation automatically on: April 20, 2018, 10:06:39 PM
Is it possible to move certain topics to Speculation automatically from the Bitcoin Discussion thread, if the topic's subject contains the following words, e.g.:
price increase decrease, fall, surge, investment, degrading, pump, dump, 'to the moon', rising, gaining, losign, growth, 'going up', 'going down', crash, pullback, bottom, etc...
It is possible by code easily, but that might not be useful. These words are also used for real bitcoin discussions,so the automation will move the thread to speculation.

Which is why, just report the thread, and mods should take care of it..Or just PM any mod with a pic of the pages of bitcoin discussion which shows most topics that belong to speculation.
1377  Other / Meta / Re: For forum nostalgics - how data show forum evolution on: April 20, 2018, 10:00:07 PM
Don't get me wrong,but :
Ever since the merit system has been introduced, haven't the number of threads like these increased from 0 to infinity? No one ever even bothered to visit these boards and now all of sudden.. Huh I don't know if this is good or bad. Yeah the quality of the posts are potentially increasing but this would become a easy method of trolling... Sad
1378  Other / Meta / Re: which boards do you follow in your Watchlist? on: April 20, 2018, 09:57:35 PM
I thought that when I added a board to watch board, it was automatically added to the watchlist. Isn't this what happens?
When you visit the watch board, you get this info:
Quote
Adding a board to this list will cause all new topics posted there to be added to your watchlist automatically. You must enter the board ID, which is visible in the URL: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=39.0.

However, you don't need necessarily need to watch a board for adding topics in your watchlist.
When you visit a thread, you can watch that thread by adding it to your watchlist by clicking the watch button on the top right corner of the page:

Or when you reply, you can explore the additional options below your text editor and check the watch topic option on/off:

1379  Other / Meta / Re: which boards do you follow in your Watchlist? on: April 20, 2018, 08:48:08 PM
Um... Watchlist and watch boards are different...
Watchlist: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=watchlist
watchboard: https://bitcointalk.org/watch_board.php
They both have their own similarities and differences..
My watchlist consists of topics I am interested to read//post/reply in. I don't use watchboard at all.
If you want to follow any boards, you can follow exchanges, service discussion and reputation(You'd have a lot of fun there, with the one and only Quicksy..) Grin
1380  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Buy antminers with loan on: April 20, 2018, 07:58:04 AM
Imagine you get 20 antminer and bank payed for that. You have to pay in 5 year (item's cost + 15% =115% totally for example or inworst situation yearly 7%). Now see the ROI of antminers. You can start mining and pay monthly, there is no doubt it will cover costs, it may pay 2-3 months money in one month. So you'll cover loan and get miners + will be able to continue mining and profit for yourself.
Yes I know I talk easily now but otherwise it would be boring. I also know I have to consider risk factors and etc many things.
Yeah you don't know what would happen in like 5 years. Think about it,if you're going to mine bitcoin(I'd assume) ,with the increasing mining difficulty, you can never be sure on your returns. Like you said, you have a lot of factors to consider:
  • A cooling system (because for 20 antminers,it would be better.)
  • A place for your mining rig, which won't affect your everyday work.
  • An insurance policy for your miners?
  • Your return can significantly vary, think about backup plans to pay off your months installments.
There are so many more, ask from an experienced miner for help.
And thanks magneto, yes, I mean boughts on instalments.
You know EMI(Estimated Monthly Installments) means the same Embarrassed.
