1861  Economy / Economics / Re: Value of bitcoin on: November 24, 2017, 02:39:47 PM
Do you think using bitcoin is better than using actual money?
Using bitcoin or fiat depends on the particular situation of the markets, where are you going to use it, most of the time, fiat is better, but again, it depends on the circumstance. If you're a bitcoin enthusiast then mostly you'd go for using bitcoin wherever feasible but if you're not, you'll think in such terms like saving bitcoin for the future when the price will be at some 100k$ or something.
1862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When BTC crashes, which Alt will hold its fiat value? on: November 24, 2017, 01:23:24 PM
When BTC crashes, which Alt will hold its fiat value? Explain your reasoning. Go.
You can't say ,predictions and assumptions are the only thing that one can do here. So here's mine: Neo,Bch,Xrp(It has been circulating around 20-30 cents since forever),doge. These coins mostly don't lose much of their fiat value whenever a crash unless there is a dump taking place after the pump or something, and a few days later they come back to their initial price.
1863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has lost 55% of its value on: November 24, 2017, 12:38:15 PM
Bitcoin currently has a marketcap of 135 bn$. But the whole collection of cryptocurrencies has a marketcap of 300 bn$. ( https://cryptocoincharts.info/coins/info )

If no-one had been able to create any other coins, Bitcoin would therefore have had a value of 300bn$, but is only at 135bn$.

This is a 55% drop in value

This is because it is easy to create more cryptocurrencies.

Value is not created out of thin air - everytime a new crypto is launched it drains away value from the other cryptos including from Bitcoin.

The loss until now is 55% and with a rapid increase in the amount of cryptos generated, both on their own and from forking Bitcoin, the inflation and degradation of value will continue
Why cryptocoincharts.info ,better use coinmarketcap.com it has the real crypto currencies and scam ones are not there in coinmarketcap, I don't use cryptocoincharts ,but their site does mention that there exists 4530 cryptocurrencies where as coinmarket cap says 1324.
The percentage change doesn't affect the values of bitcoin much, new and new crypto currencies just adds up to the pile of garbage which causes the ratio to change ,and still bitcoin's dominance is way higher in terms of price, market cap and a few more factors.
1864  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum All Time High on: November 24, 2017, 06:38:10 AM
The second powerful coin Ethereum is trying to hold its position, will it cross $400 mark?
Eth is rising tremendously the demand is getting higher by the day, cause it is going to be a proof of stake token from what I heard and eth's popularity makes it even better. Some people will be so eager to get the dividend because it's eth and the profits will be huge.
Eth is all set to break records now, it has crossed 400$ mark and the next one should be 450,if not, then it should probably drop back to 300$.
1865  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin DIAMOND FORK - Binance support on: November 24, 2017, 05:44:35 AM
Binance is preparing for the upcoming Bitcoin Diamond (BCD) hard fork (estimated to occur on 2017/11/24).
So new free coin for BTC holders in Binance!

What do you think on this BCD? Is it a shit coin? It seems like it doesnt affect BTC at all Grin

The hell. Another bull shit fork? And binance is behind it? Come on, not another lame ass fork. It's not helping the community in the bigger picture, so why try to go for it in the first place? We saw what happened to segwit2X and btg fork. BCH did exceptionally well, and now the same thing is continuing again and again. How many forms are bitcoin out there now? Btc, bch, btg, bcd, btd, bitcoinsilver(?) and how many more to come?
1866  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin ends a year at $10 000 on: November 24, 2017, 04:57:48 AM
Today Galaxy Investment Partners Founder Mike Novogratz said to Bloomberg: "Bitcoin is like gold, it has value because people say it has value".
He believes bitcoin ends a year at $10 000! Can you believe this?!
He is not the only one who believes that bitcoin will cross 10,000$ before the end of this year. For, the ridiculous events that took place this year, the expectations of the users gets higher by the day. The market demand and supply forces have been so very hyper reactive, everyone gets excited at some time.
1867  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should we be worried with Bitfinex? on: November 23, 2017, 09:13:14 PM
It seems that there have been a lot of people complaining about Bitfinex. It seems that Bitfinex has been using Theters to pump Bitcoin price. Now a lot of people is shouting this might be the next MTGOX.

What is your opinion on this one?
People say that bitfinex's thing is tether and they print dollars and what happened now is it got hacked, and the price got pumped, without any actual money invested in it. Now the people who are shouting that bitfinex could be next Mt. GOX is because they are kinda jealous, and the bitfinex users are worried about their money getting lost, so now the number of bitfinex users are declining. I can't say whether or not bitfinex would be the next Mt. GOX or not, but the dev team should come up with a solid plan B from next to protect the community.
1868  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin hits $13,000 on Zimbabwe exchange on: November 23, 2017, 07:54:38 PM
Is is real that Bitcoin hits $13,000 on Zimbabwe exchange ? Huh
Yeah it is very much true and people are buying it too from what I heard, such is the demand for bitcoin back in Zimbabwe. The reasons for this demand is that their currency is getting weak, and the people living there are searching for alternatives, and what did they find? they found bitcoin. And now people are getting rich and no one is stopping them,I don't know why.
1869  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Price Recovers to $8,200 as Tether Hack Makes Markets Volatile on: November 23, 2017, 04:06:16 PM
wow,The bitcoin price has recovered above $8,200 after careening significantly in the wake of the Tether hack. Smiley Smiley
I know right, the hack did play a small role in the price of rise back again, but a lot of users don't know what exactly happened at the same time. Some are wondering by when the price go to 10,000$  ,they want to sell and buy at a cheaper price. Some are waiting for altcoins to go up because they don't want to hold it for a long time.
1870  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how do ICO companies cash out their crypto currencies to fiat? on: November 23, 2017, 01:26:32 PM
Hey ppl,

when a company launch an ICO and received millions worth of crypto and will need to convert it to fiat currencies for execution of their business plan, how do they do it?

I am curious coz most banks would have a lot of questions on Source Of Fund (SOF) and Source Of Wealth (SOW) and the nature of ICO won't allow the banks nor the ICO companies to "peel down" the layers and expose the contributors?

I understand that some companies will keep the proceeds from ICO in crypto, but the majority would need some form of fiat to execute day-to-day business.
Good question, most of them have some sort of tie up with the bank, just like the normal corporates who have the overdraft facility, these ICO companies have this facility as well. And the bank approves it if the particular ICO company has been certified by the regulatory authority of the country. I'm not sure if it's hundred percent correct but this should be the procedure.
1871  Economy / Economics / Re: where does Africa stand in the cryptocurrency revolution? on: November 23, 2017, 12:21:57 PM
Most of their population don't have access to bank accounts, and bitcoin can help here. Their coins are usually poor, and have no economic power
They don't have access to bank accounts, how do you expect these people to use bitcoin when they get to know on how banks work, crypto will be too much for them, for, one at least 25% of the population in Africa are illiterate ; two, they don't have adequate facilities (some don't even have basic needs and necessities); three, the markets of crypto are too volatile for them to handle and all these will affect the people tremendously.
1872  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Loss almost 40%, should stop trading or not ? on: November 23, 2017, 10:19:32 AM
What kind of an idiotic person sells his investment at a loss? Were you in such urgent need of money or is it that you got scared and you sold of getting more and more losses? One time you got a loss(because of your dumbness ,nothing else)  ,you got scared and you want to trading? Well go ahead then, no one is stopping you. Remember one thing though, Failure is a stepping stone to Success.
If I were in your position, I definitely wouldn't be such a wuss and stop trading, I'd rather correct myself and move ahead.
1873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sum of Bitcoin Forks Hits $10,000 --- five figures! on: November 23, 2017, 09:15:58 AM
We are getting serious here now, folks.

Any bitcoin that has been held since before Aug 1st is now worth over $10,000.

Pretty impressive, if you ask me.

Quote
Current Bitcoin Price = $10015.52 --- Includes Sum of Forks, Core $8253.47 + Cash $1495.53 + Gold $266.52

https://twitter.com/BitcoinTotalBot
Wonderful, you almost get 4 times of what you had on August 1. Bitcoin gold has finally been listed on bittrex and I believe most of the users who were disappointed with bitcoin gold are now somewhat happy. Bitcoin cash which has been stable after crossing the 1000$ benchmark,is giving people some confidence in it,some have started "predicting" that bitcoin cash will overtake bitcoin.
What all bull shit people come up with, seriously. Sad
1874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: More and more airdrop is a lie, on: November 23, 2017, 06:28:39 AM
More and more airdrop is a lie, I do not recommend participation in airdrop, because there are at most a few 100 airdrop quality, so I think it should not be a waste of time.

No shit, Sherlock. 95% of these airdrops are useless pile of garbage, and people go after it because of free money, well you're likely to get 5$ for all of your hard work that you put in the airdrops. Instead of wasting time on participating in airdrops, rather do something more productive, be a day trader rather if you have so much time to concentrate on these airdrops.
1875  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: From 0.1 to 1 BTC in 6 months with Day-Trading on: November 22, 2017, 07:18:59 PM

I'm going to start a trading journal. My goal is to reach 1 BTC starting from 0.1 (a bit less), trading altcoins with a short-term outlook.
I'm a professional trader and, even if cryptocurrency is a new world to me, I have decided to dedicate 6 months to test this market with a small amount.
If I succeed, I will include cryptocurrency in my investment portfolio and I will publish my strategy.

Today's trades:
DNT 632
DGB 139
XRP 3000
GRS 8976

Good luck  Grin

PS: I also have a small investment in Bitcoin and Ethereum, but I won't count it in.

That in fact I think is quite possible, let's say you make a trade of 0.01 btc with an altcoin of your interests, and assuming that you'll get 20% return on every trade, given you invest and sell based on the factors at the right time, then yes my friend, you can achieve what you wanted .
1876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin can cross $300+ in next 3 years? on: November 22, 2017, 12:51:18 PM
Hello,

As too many coins in the market, I'm confused which one to hold which is cheap like $1 and can cross $300+ in next 3 years.

Any suggestions?
From 1$ to 300$ for altcoins is big task actually. There would be a daily need for some one or the other to make sure that price doesn't fall from 300$ to 0.5$ in minutes.
Anyhow the coins that can go to like at least 100$ by the end of 3 years can be :- Ripple,Neo, Civic, Power ledger etc ,the list can on and on...
Just research on alts and then decide to invest in anything.
1877  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin - New form of Budget for poor countries on: November 22, 2017, 08:41:34 AM
Hello guys, I often read news about poor countries and a new idea came to my mind.
Imagine countries which have budget not more than 10 billion (milliard). Usually these countries import products from other countries and use USD for this. So some of them has national currency and their exchange rate to USD often changes (sometimes on bad side). If their economy fails on some steps, it will affect a lot to people + they depend on nat currency/usd exchange rate. National bank has to sell some usd in order to lower exchange rate and make it a little bit stable but it isn't fix.
I want to say that if they officially invest in bitcoin (they had to do it some months ago).. Imagine price is 2000$, budget is in bitcoin and after some months it rised to 6000$, they get 3x budget.
But no one cares about that.. Bitcoin is a way for them to develope quickly in an ultra fast way.
All the above mentioned statements can be done, given that the people in those countries should be literate enough to figure out on how bitcoin works if not the whole crypto market. There should be enough resources and updated technology which again leads to massive expenditure. So the government will have to spend for the devolopement and welfare first and those poor people will have to invest ,and it'll take time for them to get a good return, considering all these facts that country would have to borrow more loans which is a death trap and it becomes a vicious cycle.
1878  Economy / Economics / Re: Uruguay to Launch Digital Currency, “Not Bitcoin” it Stresses on: November 21, 2017, 08:19:36 AM
Sure, let them do so, it ain't gonna affect the world economy by a big margin, but if the economies from Africa who recently adopted dollar as their national currency because of their own being overthrown due to depreciation of their currency, decide to issue crypto currency, it can actually affect the world economy because a lot of raw materials and precious goods are imported from these countries.
1879  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto is an Asset or Currency? on: November 21, 2017, 06:59:26 AM
I believe that the initial purpose of crypto is to create a digital currency for making transactions quick and easy. However, in reality it has become an asset which everybody is buying and holding. Continuing doing like this will destroy the initial purpose of the coin?

What is your opinion?
What does the name say? Crypto currency, right? Not,crypto asset. Know the difference, it's the people's state of mind, who think that holding bitcoin will make them millionaires one day, just like the way it has happened before this year when the price was on continuous rise. Agreed that currencies also some under the financial assets, but holding crypto currency will be one of the worst things that one can do, he can rather be an investor/trader. Holding won't make him rich in a short run.
1880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH or LTC long term? on: November 21, 2017, 03:50:29 AM
Brand new to the cryptocurrency market.  Currently I hold a decent amount of LTC.  It's value has gone up nicely since I purchased it.  I've read all the predictions for LTC in 2018 and 2019.  It sounds promising as a long term hold...which is what I'm more comfortable doing...to reach $200 -$300 a coin.   I like the fact that there is a team in place trying hard to ensure it's future.  Charlie Lee may not be the most charismatic spokesman publicly but he's out there doing it which gives me confidence in his product.  Now, it's obvious that ETH is not going anywhere.  My question for the board is which outperforms the other in the next 5 years?  I tend to invest heavily in the direction that has the bigger upside.  Perhaps I should split my investing 50/50 regarding ETH and LTC?  What say the more experienced cryptocurrency gurus?

I have nothing against BTC.  I don't see it going anywhere.  It is the giant.  However, I feel the current price point is too high for my liking.

Thanks
Eth is not a bad investment, you can spilt your long term holdings with eth and ltc. One of the nice things about eth is that it has a huge market capital and it has more volume coming in and out than that of litecoin. Eth is thus far, the second best crypto currency, some say.
You can even add neo for instance, you get dividend in the form of gas if you hold neo. There are few more altcoins that are worth holding long term, it depends on you to decide at the end of the day.
