1681  Other / Meta / Re: Spam from @AlexPromotion on: January 14, 2018, 10:53:08 AM
I know it's annoying and frustrating but all you can do at the moment is keep reporting them and staff will keep on nuking them. I hope the bot will be back soon and an update has been requested as it's badly needed, especially as these bots are now going to be spamming the forum instead of just PMs, but I don't know what the error is exactly and if it was simple then it probably would have been fixed by now.
@hilariousetc,can you please request theymos to implement or at least consider this :-
There is this thing which detects your original IP even if you use VPN or anything, so if you're banned, you cannot access your account/s even if you use VPN. Simple as that. If this feature gets implemented, then people won't have to fuss about shit posters.
I had mentioned this in another thread couple of days ago, if cloudfare is going to block bots, alternatives must be taken into consideration at the very least. If this is implemented, users won't have to spend so much time on reporting users who copy paste, shitpost, create alt accounts to irritate users via pm, create Ann threads every day with their legion of accounts, and the list goes on and on. So if they are banned once, they are banned forever. Workload on staff would considerably reduce. But I don't know how hard this will be to implement.
1682  Other / Meta / Re: Are you embarrassed to post in the ivory tower? on: January 14, 2018, 09:40:51 AM
Well yeah, but times have changed and signature campaigns (and their users) have grown exponentially since then (or more specifically crapcoin campaigns which have/are doing most of the damage). Signature campaigns have always been a problem for as long as I've been a member here but allowing them to go unregulated and unpunished has just caused chaos and now the board is more just some sort of 'earn money online' forum as opposed to a place where you can actually have some quality discussions about bitcoin (which is now essentially just second fiddle). The issue of sig spam was relatively minor back when I first signed up and I think people could only dream of the relative calm there was. It was practically a utopia compared to what it is now but I guess it was inevitable and this is why we can't have nice things.

Signature campaigns were supposed to improve post quality, look what they did. Sad.
Roll Eyes. Banned. I wonder if this user is a bot. Hard to believe someone would be this stupid to copy and paste in this of all threads.
Love it. Kiss Thank you so much.
Edit :-*Waits for user, @choisunam to open up a new thread confessing on how he is willing to contribute to this forum and how his sibling copied that post and posted without his knowledge Roll Eyes .*
1683  Other / Meta / Re: Are you embarrassed to post in the ivory tower? on: January 14, 2018, 09:30:50 AM
To be entirely fair, the signature spam, and related nonsense posts is fairly unpleasant...

My issue with the ivory tower is that its placement within the forum more or less makes it an off topic section that allows for a broad variety of threads that I may not be interested in reading. I would say I would rather have the ivory tower be a child of bitcoin discussion, and allow any non-marketplace, bitcoin related threads, even if said thread would also be appropriate in technical discussion, trading discussion, and similar.

Any leads on this  Roll Eyes
Poor newbie, he shall be banned now. How will he support his family if he can't rank up and participate in signature campaigns? Cry
1684  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is Sun Mining A Scam? on: January 14, 2018, 09:21:31 AM
All these still existing cloud mining websites are nothing but scams to a major extent. They just try to attract people by offering great ROI and literally anything that would make greedy people their victims. Just search this in Google :- "Are cloud mining websites scams?", and the number of websites and responses you'd get, that should prove the legitimacy of cloud mining.

1686  Economy / Reputation / Re: The Pharmacist - Attacks Filipinos here in BCT on: January 14, 2018, 07:46:55 AM
In this post someone who doesn't understand the difference between public and private or rights vs privileges.

There is a fundamental difference between a private forum open to the public and a public forum open to the public.

Like it or not there are rules here.  Are some less enforced than others sure but in what are of life is that not true...  When you get pulled over by a cop do you use the lame ass defense of "hey that other guy was speeding too".  Guess what, NO ONE CARES.  In the USA a lot of people say, "it's my right to drive".  It's not, driving is again a privilege available to the public.  Go get your license revoked and drive around, then when you get pulled over tell the cop its your fucking right to drive and see how that works out for you.
By public I meant something else, not in terms of ownership.
What you say makes sense, but what I said kind of confused you. I meant that users are allowed to post anywhere in the forum, as long as they are not breaking the rules mentioned by mprep and they are not shitposting and saying bull shit. If they do so, yes then they are banned and corrective action is taken. But still those users come back with the greed of participating in signature campaigns. Administrators do not have all the time in the world to check who is avoiding their ban and what not.
Posting is not exactly a right, it is a privilege, I agree. But I just want to say that instead of being too much of a racist to people who can't post well, anyone getting angry with shitposters is not going to help. If one shitposter is banned, 10 more come in. This would only increase a person's blood pressure, instead stop giving heed to shitposters, rather ignore them in the first place and just report them.
1687  Other / Meta / Re: Is this the new trend for spammers/account farmers? on: January 14, 2018, 07:30:06 AM

Can great leader of this forum theymos implement "report user to moderator" button? It would be much easier to report user, reporting post by post by post is kind waste of time and energy and won't do much unless we report all "one line" posts or all spam posted by single account(which I honestly gave up doing), we basically need to open all posts, report it one by one and wait for...hm...5 seconds? between reports.

Example:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1383451
It literally takes 2 seconds to see that this user is spamming, it would take another 2 seconds to report user and I am almost 100% sure that everyone will agree that we need "report user to moderator" button.
Also it won't be so bad to see who is banned(little "banned" sign would be ok IMO)
Thanks for reading, godbless and goodluck.
Two awesome suggestions mentioned by you, definitely worth implementing it.
I think that's a great suggestion.  I've been wanting check boxes for all of a user's posts so I could report multiple posts all from one page...but I know that's never going to happen.  And I'm curious as to what kind of response this will get.  "Report User" along with maybe a field for a brief description of why the user is being reported would be quite handy.  There are many, many users here who just write one-line shitposts, and it's obvious they're doing it to either rank up or meet a bounty quota.  Those posts are zero-value, zero-thought, and they come by the dozens.
The checkbox thing would be really helpful if it is implemented in the main boards like bitcoin discussion, economics and the like. Theymos can just create another database for the "report user" button, and whenever a user wants to report another user, the latter would be stored in the data base, and Theymos or any mod can just ban them accordingly based on why they have been reported. A text area for a user to explain why he is reporting another would be helpful,as only a handful of people use the report button,so that he can explain why he is doing so.
A checkbox for ignoring users would also be very much helpful.

This is maybe an unnecessary reply for this thread but Man, I just locked one up.

I've seen many people post the same message in different topics before.
Even I agree that I have seen tons of users copy pasting the same posts again and again in different threads but on the same context . I just tend to ignore such users.

Poor guy, don't know if I should feel sad for you or not. I'm a rock basically  Tongue So you want to convince, is that right? You say that they saw a video in Facebook where some asshole told bitcoin is a scam and bullshit. You also say you have invested in altcoins, too. One way to convince would be you to cash out your altcoins to your fiat currency using your friend's or relative's bank account and show them crypto is legit. There are so many articles online that have mentioned on how legit crypto is and how investments have turned properly into millionnaires. Here's one such:- https://chainoperator.com/making-a-living-day-trading-cryptocurrency/

1693  Economy / Services / Re: BitEther Signature Campaign | Jr - Hero | 2 Weeks Campaign on: January 13, 2018, 02:56:15 PM
You cant blame ICO -_- just learn some work then blame things -_- If someone want to join let them join if someone is making false news then let them ignore. We just launched our campaign here. To get traffic from here as well. Other wise we have crossed 22000USD in a one day.
FYI, that 22000$ is definitely from idiots who randomly invest in ICOS and the ones which think that anything that starts with bit is related to bitcoin and what not. So keep the wonderful and glorious pride with yourself. And nobody is blaming, only the facts are getting revealed outright. There exists a lot of stupid people in this world, they require help.  Wink
Good luck to everyone who is participating with us. Good luck to those who want there benefit in this project who are being greedy for this campaign as well. We swear that if this campaign is over here. Then we will never give it someone else too.
Exactly, good luck with the participants getting paid for participating in this campaign.  Roll Eyes

1694  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Munuchin and 20 nations talk btc and Swiss banks on: January 13, 2018, 02:37:31 PM
Mnuchin can try doing some thing against bitcoin, we all know how it would result. And for the fear of over-regulation, you don't have to worry for now, as regulating bitcoin is still hard as people are breaking their brains behind it.
Also I had read  someone speak about this question a few years ago and I am going to quote him, because it is a wonderful post and makes absolute sense. Here :
Quote
Needless to say, it all depends on your transactional information. Swiss Banking is not 100% anonymous. It is still regulated and if push-comes-to-shove (read: legal), your details can be given out by the Bank.

Bitcoin is anonymous of course, provided your shield your wallet information well. If you want to pay me, and I happen to know you, when a transaction is done into my wallet, your wallet ID will be known to me. This is one way I can keep track of you. You could cascade wallets, keeping your original wallet information secure, but if I were to look at the transaction history of wallets, I would still be able to track back.

It would be anonymous only if I did not know who you were, and then we conducted the transaction.

There is no authority that would give your wallet information details out (per se). If you have an online wallet, the wallet provider may be required to give out your email address to which the wallet is associated with, other than that, nada.

Your best bet would be to have an off-line wallet, where you store all your money and for anonymous transactions, make a few online wallets and transfer money to these wallets for purposes of transacting.

For making an online or offline wallet, your personal details are not required.

Whoopie! KFC finally gets to business. It's just time for others to join.  Kiss
Do you also realize the fact that if you spend 0.001 for a chicken bucket, you'd have to spend double the amount due to transaction fee?  Angry
But hey, chicken bucket > bitcoin transaction fee. Priorities first.

1697  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Planning to invest 200$ in Dimecoin? on: January 12, 2018, 06:43:50 PM
Dimecoin is a shit coin, obviously and to be honest I haven't heard much or anything at all about it. Did a quick check in Google and it's monetary worth is terrible. Do not invest in it, I'm not a financial advisor or so, but definitely not advisable. There are way better altcoins and do not get attracted by pumps, you'll end up losing your money if not acted wisely.
1698  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: bitcoin prices not rising! should we trade or hold? on: January 12, 2018, 06:33:27 PM
Trade or hold is your decision. Trading will be better I guess because alts are getting pumped quite frequently now because this is the beginning of the year. Bitcoin will grow after like June or so. These stats are basically based on last year's market movements and this year has also started with the same activity.
1699  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Making a Living Day Trading Cryptocurrency on: January 12, 2018, 06:31:29 PM
A wonderfully written article, indeed. Day trading is amazing and I very much agree with you. Amazing stack you hold and keep trading, wish you luck. Hope this article of yours gets spread all over the internet and let people be inspired by your accomplishment. At least then  people will learn that underestimating bitcoin will cause them badly.
1700  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC - Litecoin - your thoughts? on: January 12, 2018, 04:02:43 PM
Litecoin was worth some 50-60$ back then in November if I remember correctly. Now it's price range differs from 200-300$. So if you're worried about price going down, just know that it is just a pump and dump scenario where people give fake reputation and hype to a coin and increase its price and then when they are benefited from it, they dump the coin and the value goes down.
