1261  Other / Meta / Re: [Request] 1 Merit to become junior member and access to bounties sub on: May 14, 2018, 10:59:23 AM
What do the people who operate these bounties think of the newbie invasion? Also, people should not be required to post in order to get paid; that's already against the rules.
An idea I had in this vein was that upon registration you'd have to pick one of two paths:
 - "I want to discuss things"
= Banned from all money-making/spam-hotbed sections until Jr Member
 - "I want to make money"
= Banned from the more serious sections until Jr Member
= You have to pass a quiz before posting which tries to inform you about basic forum rules, how not to get banned, maybe some basic English knowledge, etc.
How about just enforcing bounty managers to do their goddamn job. They literally just sit around doing nothing and get paid for that. Damn those lucky bastards. Isn't that something everybody wants? Everything is handled by bots, the post counting and calculation of stakes and all that stuff.

Theymos, would you actually consider making an Official set of rules, for literally every section, board and clear out the misunderstandings all at once? And force the quiz for both the possible paths. Rules need to be followed,be it for bounties,be it for discussion.

And force bounty managers and all the airdrop managers to fill out the application within google forms and avoid spamming the forum. 4000+ bots infested one airdrop thread and later on,the bots themselves made a own thread and started spamming.
1262  Other / Archival / Re: Hire me to defend your case for 0.01BTC! on: May 14, 2018, 10:44:07 AM
How do we know you aren't colluding with DT members to red tag people and split the profits 50-50?
For him to even possibly collude,he would have to speak something that would make sense. And we all know digaran wouldn't do that.
Stop trying to extort $ for ratings.
He is not doing that. He is just blabbering something from which he knows,he will get the community's attention.
Digaran's intentions are weird but has got something to do ,which may or maynot be beneficial  in the "long run". His plan is working out just as he expected. He trolls others,he uses his sarcasm in a serious manner, misleading people much often. He got himself,red-tagged,and he has got a lot more to do. Now not sure, what exactly he is trying to accomplish by doing all of this....
1263  Other / Meta / Re: Fake profiles joining old/closed bounties for some reason. on: May 13, 2018, 12:05:11 AM
Bots for posting can easily post in bitcointalk whereas bots used for nuking need to crawl through the data, and cloudfare blocks such activities. I believe this is why achow101's website cannot be accessed anymore. The website says:

Quote
The Bitcointalk Account Price Estimator will be down indefinitely due to recent changes to the Bitcointal DDoS protection which is blocking the backend bot from being able to pull the necessary information.

I maybe wrong here, so would rather wait for theymos to verify this.
1264  Other / Meta / Re: Fake profiles joining old/closed bounties for some reason. on: May 12, 2018, 09:04:22 PM

Gj LoyceV.
We need for real a good autobot to nuke these evil decepticons.
This was done before greatly by mitchell, dunno now why some topics remain in their place for more than a week?
I am still trying to report some of them but it is time consuming, sometimes I am afraid of reporting same bot twice, so I am now giving them a negative trust to avoid increasing the mods queue...this could be automated like before.
Mindless electron maybe @Mitchell ?
This might not be possible because of the integration of cloudfare with bitcointalk. I read somewhere stating that bots are not functioning properly or functioning at all so don't know what the current state is.
1265  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk vs marinecoin? on: May 12, 2018, 12:01:11 AM
The mods had a insant deletion bot for any posts with the words "marinecoin", maybe they stopped it at this point.

Maybe because what you're posting is valueless and someone reported you. Which is why a mod might have deleted your post. Or maybe the thread might have been crashed.
1266  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk vs marinecoin? on: May 11, 2018, 11:45:23 PM
Ok I see your point, but they were deleting every single post regarding marinecoin, but its ok for scam coins like deep onion to spam everywhere.
They won't get anything by deleting marine coin's posts. Also scams aren't moderated here. Your posts won't be deleted if you follow the rules.

This guy has a lot of alt accounts. If this guy gets banned, so shall the others.

1268  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor or Nano Ledger ? on: May 11, 2018, 11:23:48 PM
Ledger supports more coins than trezor does. And trezor is a little more secure than ledger. Ledger can only only a few apps at the same time but trezor doesn't need any app, you can access all your cryptos at the same time without having to install or uninstall anything. Trezor's updates are much better than ledger.
1269  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [GUIDE] Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Wallets by Cryptosec on: May 11, 2018, 11:20:03 PM
@OP,you should list information about mobile wallets too. It would make up into a very decent article. I saw your site and well your UI isn't very crypto-friendly or even user-friendly. The layout is way too weird for the content  Undecided
1270  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Tablet on: May 11, 2018, 11:17:04 PM
What are you talking about? I have no clue what you mean by "knock the RAM necesity down to 4GB". I'm really confused what the purpose of your post was...
I think what he means is that since you're looking for a tablet for generalistic purposes, you should consider taking down your ram requirements to 4 GB which you have already saidUndecided
I found another article, is this something you're looking for:

1271  Other / New forum software / Re: New feature request: a "Report merit abuse button" on: May 11, 2018, 11:10:14 PM
I disagree:
1. It actually makes the whole process harder (you have to look for similar types of threads, instead of having those reports in a single thread).
2. It clutters the board.
1. Merit abuses aren't handled by mods as their jobs, they are handled by DT members who may or may not be mods.. But nevertheless I get your point.
2. Cluttering the board actually doesn't matter anymore. It's a forum and threads are supposed to be created everyday. Spam exists all over the internet and one person/group alone can't do anything about it.
1272  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why do people continue to invest in cloudmining? on: May 11, 2018, 11:04:11 PM
It's the exact opposite. It's the perfect way to scam people, but a stupid way to 'make' money for people. That being said, in most cases all terms most of the well known cloud mining services handle have been updated to reflect the negative aspects due to the many variables that are involved. In other words, it's no longer a scam, but a gamble. Some people call it a legal scam, which I can agree with as well. People just need to understand what consequences their actions may have if they blindly invest their funds in whatever vague site or service. If they accept the involved risks, then it's all fine -- we can't stop people from investing, just provide information. It's up to them to acknowledge that or to blatantly ignore it (the latter mostly applies).
Worse part is that people actually borrow loans to invest in cloud mining sites. They don't do the math nor a good research. People think this is a scenario of high risk - high profit, while it is clearly high risk - low/no profit. People have made a lot of assumptions about crypto and they have been wrong every single time.
1273  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk vs marinecoin? on: May 11, 2018, 10:56:01 PM
Maybe because they broke the rules of the forum. Read them here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0
Probably mrprep would have sealed with this case as he is the mod in the altcoins board.
You actually think something like marinecoin shitcoin would take over bitcoin. Lol. Good luck with that, the forum is filled with bitcoin enthusiasts which also includes every single mod and admins. Not the right way to go, fella.
1274  Other / Meta / Re: Mark as Read if Seen in Preview on: May 11, 2018, 10:53:43 PM
Especially considering they are working on new forum software and probably not worried too much about this software any longer (outside of security).
Which will be released in 3018. Cheesy
Don't let your hopes down, you can keep trying, you have got nothing to lose here. Maybe keep bumping this thread everyday and who knows your prayers would be answered..  Smiley
1275  Other / Meta / Re: Fake profiles joining old/closed bounties for some reason. on: May 11, 2018, 10:51:04 PM
It's basically this, in an xterm:
Code:
wget "https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=recent;patrol"
I add some more stuff to set consecutive filenames, and run this every 5 minutes.
Awesome. Thanks.
The rules say Users posting "joined" type posts when not required or allowed will be BANNED and Incentivising posting within one or more threads is not allowed, but if you combine these two, bounty threads get away with simply asking people to post "joined".
There is a pattern here in their posting. I see people posting in metalcoin bounty and a couple more. It would be better for the entire thread to be trashed.
1276  Other / Meta / Re: Mark as Read if Seen in Preview on: May 11, 2018, 10:41:32 PM
That warning message could be linked to the watchlist, so that once that message is satisfied then it will also satisfy the watchlist "read/unread" status.
Only theymos can do something about it and usually theymos takes action when a lot of people want it to happen, or maybe not. Also not a lot of people use the watchlist, so maybe what you're asking for will never be considered.
1277  Other / Meta / Re: Fake profiles joining old/closed bounties for some reason. on: May 11, 2018, 10:35:19 PM
Is there a "valid" reason (as in: "authenticating the account for bounty hunters") to post this, or are they all spamming?

If they're all spam, I can easily make a list, just like I did for AlexPromotion spam. I haven't downloaded patrol for a few months, and just restarted it. Once I have data from a few days, I can make a list.
If I may ask, how exactly do you download the patrol?
Update to answer my own question: apparently bounty threads require it:
Isn't this against the rules? It's not allowed to give people any incentive to post in the thread. This looks like a loophole to allow unlimited bumping. So many accounts post nothing else than this (example)!
This is why there is a need for new rules which are more specific. For example, asking bounty mangers to use Google forms for campaign, which would reduce the the huge amount of spam in the altcoin board.
1278  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Localbitcoin account hacked lossed 0.08 BTC on: May 11, 2018, 10:19:14 PM
@OP,Check your email, other things might be in a vulnerable state too. Also try changing your email for literally every website you used that email in. Read this thread for better safety: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=159424.0
1279  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Exchanges that offer business/corporate accounts? on: May 11, 2018, 10:07:56 PM
BitPanda also offered a possibility for corporate account (they call it Platinum Membership) but it works just the same as individual accounts with only extra privileges of increased daily withdrawals to $25,000. Their support's pretty good at discussing individual needs so maybe just reach out. They're quite a solid and small exchange (relatively small anyway) and have never declined in support quality, which is why I'm recommending.
I have never heard of this exchange before, but from seeing the way you're recommending it,I'll be sure to check it out. I have seen people recommending binance, kraken, bittrex(LOL), poloniex(LOL again) but never heard about BitPanda. What surprises me is that you say the support quality is amazing. Now that's something no other exchange has. Wonder why it is not a major exchange yet Huh.
1280  Other / Meta / Re: Spam flies to the moon for merit !!! on: May 11, 2018, 09:58:15 PM
Just recently, they invented the merit on the forum, and what I see,
And theymos should receive a Nobel Prize for such a wonderful invention.
Look at how many low-quality topics have appeared in recent times. Everyone wants to create a topic and think that they will immediately receive merit, I'm shocked ...
Like the one you have created here? YES.
I do not need your merit, and I will write posts that I deem appropriate and not inventing any abstruse crap which someone should like and who will deign to me their merit. It's a forum for communication and not a department of censorship and awards for  spammers !
It's better to be without merit than to spam a lot of low-quality topics!
Then be prepared to die alone Undecided
