1523  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT vs. eMunie on: December 22, 2013, 12:24:31 AM
I think Nxt will replace BTC as virtual gold and eMu could be a great way to buy, sell, trade as a consistent value currency.  It will be interesting to see if the delay in eMu client release will have a detrimental effect on adoption, since Nxt really seem to be off and running at the moment.  I like both and hope both do well.

There are too much money and investment in BTC so it will not be easy to replace.
I think that delay isn't a big issue, as NXT at this moment just a working blockchain, but many of the most interesting features are still in beta\development. As I see the latest eMu beta is practically fully functional and most of the advanced features are ready to go. So both coins are in very similar state. BTW this two could work very well together.

Nxt and eMu are totally different on the economic front that I don't think they will interfere with each other, but could very well work together.  Most people won't like the slow investment return of eMu, but I think it's great and is a very usable and reliable currency model.

I think we need to plea BCNext to implement Alias transfer as soon as possible. It would make the whole alias system alive.

I don't think he's working on that, it will be nexern's client that enables alias transfer.
1525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT vs. eMunie on: December 21, 2013, 09:48:35 PM
I think BTC will exist as virtual gold old gem collection (something long term storage of value), but I'm affraid it never will be a widely used currency. NXT and eMunie could/will be currencies what we can use in the off-licence on the corner Smiley.

Really no need to be on an arm-race for aliases. There should be a plenty for everyone. I  very unfortunately have to travel at 22000 block. Would ask the wife to act as aproxy but not sure she is tech-savy enough to handle unexpected issues.

PM me, happy to register alias for you in new account  and give you password later.
1527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT coin - A total scam? on: December 21, 2013, 04:43:39 PM
Problem with these coins, that say "we're going to have this, we're going to have that"... etc. Is that they DON'T. They DON'T already have this, and they DON'T have that, they are just proposals. And going from proposals to the real thing is actually a HUGE step, it takes a lot of coding, a lot of long nights nailing bugs, from several developers, to code anything substantial. And this in a very fast moving sector where there is more and more competition every day for the same kinds of features.

You will probably meet people in the real world that are the kind of people with big ideas and always coming up with ways to make money, but they never get on and do it. They have the imagination but not the drive and determination to take an idea all the way, whether they have backing or not, they lose interest somewhere amidst the sheer amount of problems that can appear when trying to do something new and innovative.

This is the risk you take when investing in these "dreamers", some will take their project all the way, but many more won't. Watch out for projects stagnating because that could be the end of your investment.

I agree, however Nxt is only a few weeks old and already we have some very innovative projects in development and several already released.

Since you have no interest in emu, you may want to change your profile pic to something other than their logo.

How can i know if i got an alias?
What change if i set 1 min of deadline or 1440?

Sorry but there is something that i still can't understand...

U'll see a confirmed transaction in ur transactions. Amount will be 0 NXT.

Deadline is a voodoo magic trick. U don't know how high a fee should be, so u send, say, 10 NXT fee and set deadline to 3 minutes. If ur transaction is not confirmed then u should increase the fee, but u shouldn't send another transaction until the previous one is not expired. Deadline defines when a transaction expires.

So if 100 people are trying to register the same alias, the one with the highest fee when the next block is generated will get the Alias?
1530  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 20, 2013, 02:29:13 PM
Version 0.4.0 - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/67242472/nxt.zip

Added Alias System that will be activated after block 22000
Added https://localhost:7875/alias.html to make it easier to assign aliases
Added connectTimeout and readTimeout parameters to tweak outbound requests
Added https://localhost:7875/nxt?requestType=getAccountId&secretPhrase=123
Added http://localhost:7874/nxt?requestType=getAccountTransactionIds&account=23847569283756&timestamp=0

I know you addressed this, but will Alias be assigned by first come right after 22000 is generated (not on Nxt Fee)?  Also, what can we expect as server response when the Alias is registered using system tool?

Need to buy 250k to fund various Nxt development projects, so any discount would be appreciated.  (I've donated around 500k so far).  Please PM me.
May I know to whom have you donated? I ask this because we are running the bounty projects and the promotion-based big giveaway and so far we had these donations:
-Pouncer 400K
-klee 97K+150K
-CfB 150K
-Neer.h 1M Nxt
-myself 300K

That's good you donate but that is an unfortunate matter that most of early adopter that are big stakeholders have not donated a dime.
I know you bought much more expensive than them and the fact that you donated 500K so far is great and they you should be ashamed
for their selfishness.

Just because it's not public or via your donation thread doesn't mean its not happening. I prefer to make quiet donations, notifying the benefactor in some cases, anonymously in others. To assume others are not doing so because you don't know about it is a mistake. With that said, you guys are doing great work for Nxt and the community. Large and small holders alike ought to be grateful. As I've stated in other threads. My inbox is open to donation and bounty propositions. Thanks!. Smiley

Would still like to buy 250k if anyone is willing to sell.

Also, I don't think anyone is obligated to donate, I just do so because I lack on the technical side and I want to contribute in some way. I think what guys like nexern is doing is so much more valuable than a few thousand Nxt.

I've donated to dumple, QBTC, nexern, ferment, weslyn, drexme giveaway, and a few others, communicated in both this forum and the nextcoin.org forum.  I'm happy to donate to a fund, but it seemed to go nowhere last time, so I took the initiative.

Also, I don't donate based on what others decide to donate.  I feel some members are very deserving of the donations from there work and surprised to find that others hadn't donated anything to certain contributors.

I believe xibeijan's concern is that if you were to sell the Alias, and give the buyer your Nxt account password, you (seller) would still have access to the account since you know the password of the Nxt account.

I know. I already explained this situation a few posts ago.

Yep, he didn't see that, I'm wondering if it's better if we open new Nxt account per Alias or just have all Alias associated with main Nxt account.

This would be AWESOME.

Aye. The only obstacle on a way to the bright future is lack of alt-clients that support these features.

don't worry, NXT | Application Hub, is on it's way, faster than expected.  Cool

+1, good work nexern!
1536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 18, 2013, 05:08:37 PM
Am I understanding correctly that the password is bound to the name and that if you know the password, then you own the name?

If so, then this is a major security flaw, as there is truly no way to transfer ownership of a name from one user to another user (since they both must know the password).

Please tell me I'm misunderstanding it.

If the 2nd person knows the password then it means that the 1st one revealed it. Who r we to decide what account owners r allowed to do with their passwords?

I believe xibeijan's concern is that if you were to sell the Alias, and give the buyer your Nxt account password, you (seller) would still have access to the account since you know the password of the Nxt account.

All sounds really exciting....and I cant wait to try it out and see the source code.

I think the only problem with this coin at the moment is hoarding.I hope the situation will change once the source is released.
Otherwise someone else is gonna come up with similar ideas for a coin like 'pxt' which is distributed easily among more people
and at the end of the day for the common user, it doesnt matter if its nxt or pxt, as long as they can get hold of it easily and cheap.

I agree that hoarding would be a concern but consider that 3 weeks ago there were only 71 people with Nxt.  Today there are over 1600 people that hold Nxt.  I would say that's a pretty natural distribution.  After so many years, 900 people still own half of BTC.  If you examine the Nxt Blockchain you will see that more and more Nxt is being distributed among the top accounts.

Big news in the main thread, expect the price of Nxt to go up quickly.

Are Batman and batman two different names in the alias system?

The same.

Is there a guide/thread on how to register alias?  Sounds like a great feature.
