Need some tech assistance here, please Smiley

I was out of town, away from my crypto pc, for a couple weeks and upon returning, I attempted to get my WIN64 full client up to speed, but have run into some roadblocks.

Not knowing there had been any new client releases, I first tried to sync my client on v1.7.1, but it errored out and closed at 60% sync. I then checked for updates and downloaded v1.8.2, but I still have not been able to sync on this latest release. The furthest I've seen it go is about 30%, but on 1.8.2 it just crashes without giving an error of any sort.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I don't know if it would work but I would try:
1. create a new windows user profile
2. install a light wallet
3. copy app files from the old full wallet installation to a new light wallet folder

Do these crashes happen systematically?

Light wallet's files and full wallet's files do not have the same structure so I'm afraid 3. won't work.

If you don't have blackbytes, one option (if it keeps crashing) is to try recovering using your seed on another wallet (it could be full or light).

hi all,
is there someone of the dev team around? I have a problem with a wrong linked btc wallet within my byteball v1.8.2 linking process!?
I've followed the instruction must closely by sending .000082 btc to my byteball address over my btc address, but the byteball bot tells me some sort of other btc address linked to my byteball wallet.

What kind of btc wallet did you use? blockchain.info, multibit-hd, coinbase?

Ledger Nano S with the associated Ledger BTC Wallet, because of that I'm not able to sign the message of the correct btc address and pass it to the transition bot. I've told the bot the correct btc address, now he asked me to sign the byteball wallet with my btc wallet, but to my knowledge that is actually not possible with the ledger nano s?

Then that wallet must be sending btc whilst creating a newly generated address each time, which means you need to check your wallet for the address that byteball says it's linked with, and then just move your btc to that address on your nano

Sorry, I don't understand your answer even reading it for the 3rd time. Maybe as I'm new to Byteball but still - I don't get it :-D Plz can you describe it ones more?

On one hand, here is a tutorial that explains how to sign a message using Ledger Nano S + Electrum: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1608859.msg17160291#msg17160291, I hope it'll help.

On the other, what you are likely experiencing here is the effect of your remaining balance being moved to a new address (the change address). Check out this post for more info: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1608859.msg18634744#msg18634744.

I've seen some posts requesting the establishment of a dev fund, just for the record, there is a community fund, used to pay for bounties and other expanses (not main devs salaries as far as I know), check out this post for more information https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1608859.msg18115774#msg18115774. Maybe a link to this post should be added to the first post.

How is the fund, funded?

Donations in BTC, bytes and blackbytes plus bytes and blackbytes from each round's distribution plus unclaimed blackbytes. There's a spreadsheet with all the ins and outs, you can find the link in the post.

When the remaining 1% will be given away to the first 100m users who install Byteball wallet, 100 Kbytes to each user ?

Quote
This will start 6 months from now or later, after we get ready for that scale.

I believe we are still not ready for that scale, 100m users is quite a lot and we surely have quite a long way to go. By the way, are there any stats about the number of users (the number of installed wallets)?

I buy some if u want, regards

Please don't, there's a very high chance you'll be just throwing your money out of the window. If you are aware of the history of this coin and still want to buy then suit yourself.
467  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Xaurum [XAUR] on: April 26, 2017, 07:37:43 PM
Can I sell coins for gold ?

Can I sell coins for gold ?

You can melt Xaurum for gold, you'll get the gold base of the melted Xaurs, however, given the fact that Xaurum's price is higher than its gold base's price, it's not worth it.

Do blackbytes use the same address as byteballs?

Well yes, however you can not just send them to an address, you have to pair devices with the device you are exchanging with and satisfy a payment request that it sends you or click on their address (that they sent you through the chat interface) and use it to send blackbytes. (And you need bytes to pay for transaction fees.)

My GBYTES are at Bittrex. Can I participate und the airdrop distribution?

You should probably contact Bittrex to know if they intend to give you your share from the distribution depending on your balance, that is completely up to them. As far as I know, they didn't make any statement about that.
470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: April 26, 2017, 09:28:13 AM
Conditions remain the same as for previous rounds? 0.065 for one Bitcoin and 0.1 for each GBYTE? If I connected the address in the previous round, do I need to connect it in this round?

Yes, conditions remain the same (0.0625 and 0.1). Linked addresses will stay linked for all the rounds, just make sure your funds are on them before the snapshots. By the way, Participation in Byteball distribution section in the first post is updated after each round with the conditions for the next round.

So the switch from full to light wallet must be done via sending all balance to another machine with a light wallet and then copying that light wallet back to the main machine.

Yes. You can also transfer (instead of copy) your blackbytes (first) and bytes to the new light wallet on your main machine (from the other machine).

I want to relink my BTC address to different byteball address  Undecided
You can still do this, but move your Bitcoins to a different Bitcoin address, and link that new address to your new Byteball address.

But the wallet is same despite the different payment address.
I mean, I made the micropayment-for-linking to different byteball address from the single hardware BTC wallet (Ledger nano) but chatbot told me it was paid from different address.
There's no problem if, as you said, previous link become invalid, but worried if the later linking is also invalid without any notifications.

Sorry for my bad English from Japan, but I want to get involved in this exciting coin.
Best regards Smiley

I think both links will be invalidated, and the BTC address blacklisted, it might be perceived as a cheating attempt (linking the same BTC address to several BB addresses).

When you do a micropayent, the remaining balance is transferred to another address, that's probably why the linked address and the one that holds your funds are different. if you link by a micropayment you'll have to move your funds back to the original address. Here is a tutorial to link by signing a message using Ledger Nano S + Electrum https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1608859.msg17160291#msg17160291, I hope it helps.

today latest full wallet stopped syncing and it gives me this error,

Code:
Uncaught exception: Error: known bad WRc/Ylyr5wKYozWO+RpVf330NRLCSU0VjKfmUrRUaKI=: WRc/Ylyr5wKYozWO+RpVf330NRLCSU0VjKfmUrRUaKI=: last ball unit LGFzduLJNQNzEqJqUXdkXr58wDYx77V8WurDF3+GIws= is not stable in view of your parents 6O4t3j8kW0/Lo7n2nuS8ITDv2UbOhlL9fF1M6j/PrJ4=

what to do ?

Also after this bug is resolved can I switch to light wallet from full while keeping the address or I need to install light wallet on another machine and send my balance there and relink BTC addresses ?

As you said, this is a bug and it is being worked on currently. If you have a backup of your data folder before the install, then you can try downgrading to 1.8.0 and using that backup.
Switching from full to light and vice-versa is not possible. Maybe you can use the seed on a light wallet to recover addresses and bytes (but not blackbytes), but that's just a maybe Smiley.
474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: April 25, 2017, 11:35:16 AM
Is the initial micropayment for BTC address linking somehow payed back? Or is it regarded as some sort of fee?  Huh
Sorry if this has been already discussed. I couldn't find the discussions.  Cry

It's not paid back. Having said that, another way of linking is by signing your Byteball address with your Bitcoin address and giving the signature to the transition bot, it won't cost a dime Wink.
475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: April 25, 2017, 11:24:37 AM
200 dollars a price, I do not believe in it))) At the beginning the price was about 5-10 dollars, and many who did get coins for free.

It was never as low as 10$, the lowest BTC price was 0.03 (for a very short time) and usually it was between 0.04-0.06 (once it went up to 0.2 so the ATH is higher than the current price), now the price is 0.16 so its 4x of the all time low and about 2.5x of the yearly average. 5-10$ price implies up to 40x increase, which never happened (yet), not even 10x in BTC price at least (I'm not following fiat prices, only BTC).

Maybe you didn't witness it but the lowest on Cryptox was 0.007xx BTC and you could buy quite some at 0.008 BTC (on Cryptox and OTC), it was some days after the first distribution, early January I think. So 0.16 is actually 20 times all times low (if we don't count free coins). Anyway, we probably all think that it still has room to grow, and opportunity is still here Wink.

Hi,

I'm looking to sell (up to) 1000 GB, if you are (or know someone who is) interested in buying, please send me a private message. Thank you very much.

I've got a question concerning BLACKBYTES:
Will there ever be a possiblity of a trading platform for these? Or is it technically impossible to implement and sending directly to someone will be the only way?

From my understanding, BlackBytes can only be traded via the chat bot.

Yes, they can only be exchanged through a chat interface with a paired device. Theoretically, an exchange could run a bot to automate deposits/withdrawals, one would have to pair with the exchange's device, chat with a special bot to deposit/withdraw. Such a bot just needs to be developed Smiley.
478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: April 24, 2017, 12:53:05 PM
so instead I am backing up the folder in the user local folder manually. This seems to include all the chain / DAG, etc...

There isn't anything else I need to backup that I should be aware of is there?

The folder is enough to recover both bytes and blackbytes. Just in case, here is its location: https://github.com/byteball/byteball#byteball-backups-and-recovery.

You can also back up your seed, but that can be used to recover bytes only. You can find the seed in the device settings under Backup wallet seed.

i read you need to have Byteball on your wallet for 10 may to get byteball and blackbite,
linking BTC works if you have access to one of the address linked in the first distribuition

Hi there, I'd like to get in on the 5th round of Distribution if possible, but am a little unclear on something. Do I need to already own Byteball to participate, or is owning BTC, and proving the BTC balance enough to qualify?

Thanks

Owning BTC is sufficient, but you need to link the BTC wallet in the BB client with the transition bot.

Owning bytes is not needed, one can link a BTC address to a BB address anytime, and links stay active forever, so as dbc23 said, owning BTC is sufficient, it has to be on a linked address. You can verify your linked addresses and their balances by chatting with the transition bot and/or on transition.byteball.org.

TBXDQ7QBVGLJVTLKHY7AZH5RUTGBWLMH On April 12, send blackbyteball haven't received, how to receive need how to operate
I received byteball, 1 mdfqv499hcvlam4gqugtbegec9yjwjiri BTC address, this is binding a snapshot when no money, have any effect

Indeed, your Byteball address received bytes from the distribution, I also see it linked in the transition page, however I don't know when it got linked ... If it was linked before the snapshots then you are entitled to blackbytes. I'll assume you did. Do you have the latest version of the software installed?
480  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: April 22, 2017, 11:31:52 AM
Couple of days ago I registered myself for next round of distribution and chatbot was telling me for every 1 BTC you will receice 131 millions and some bytes. I am not really very good in calculation some help to understand the formula is needed. Let's suppose I have 10 BTC in wallet on required date how much worth of byte I will get?

For each BTC, you'll get 62.5 MegaBytes, that is 62 500 000 bytes and 2.1111*that in blackbytes, that is 131 943 750 blackbytes. So, if you link 10 BTC, then you'll get 625 MegaBytes i.e. 625 000 000 bytes and 1 319 437 500 blackbytes.
