Important to backup before updating?

Well I've never done it before updating, and everything went fine, but yes it would be important Smiley.

What do you need to backup your wallet to move to a new computer, which folders etc?

https://github.com/byteball/byteball#byteball-backups-and-recovery. I've never done that either ...

What about if you did move them but you make sure they are back in there before the 2nd distro snapshot is taken?

If you move them to the exact linked addresses, then yes. The easiest way to know your linked addresses is to query the bot (type anything) and it will tell you what your linked addresses are, you then just move your BTC and your bytes to those addresses before the snapshot is taken. Of course you can link others if it's easier for you Smiley. You can also check your linked addresses on the transition page: transition.byteball.org.

is the altcoin giveaway coming?

Mid-February. Just watch the thread and check the opening post for the exact date, which is yet to be announced.

Can anyone please, provide some information about any advancements concerning this project (if there are any)? It has been way too long since this thread has gone silent. Thank you.

Does someone know the current exchange rate of Blackbyte, if any?

Well you can go to #trading_blackbyte on Slack and see what's happening there, sellers and buyers do not seem to agree Smiley.

the end of the second round will be mid February, then the BB wallet and our Btc synchronization will be snap shooted only in that date?Huh

The exact date will be announced later, for now we only have mid-Feb and yes there will be only one snapshot.

afterwords we are able to move again our Btc without any problems?

Yes. Your funds have to be there for the snapshot, you are neither obliged to have them now nor to leave them there after.

thx in advance Smiley

You are welcome Smiley.

Due to this the tag could also be put on due to a personal bias which wouldn't be fair.

I guess when this tag existed, it would've been put under someone's username after it has been objectively (clear evidence that could be assessed by anyone) determined that the user is a scammer, so I think personal bias might not be an issue, however, it might be when giving negative feedback.

Put some effort into looking into the people you trade with and it won't be a problem.

Personally I do Smiley and I think scammer tag or not, one should always look into the history of the person they're dealing with.

745  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 19, 2017, 08:30:51 AM
1. If I moved around my BTC I will have to link those addresses to be part of the second distribution round;

Yes, or send your BTC back to your already linked addresses.

2. The same goes for the GBYTE: if I moved coins around I will have to do the same.

You will have to do the same (link) to get blackbytes associated with the bytes you'll get. Otherwise, no, because bytes will be sent to any address that holds bytes. So, if you want the blackbytes, keep your bytes on linked BB addresses.

3. I'm not sure about blackbytes but it should be the same, please correct me just in case.

Blackbytes do not matter in the distribution.

Last but not least, is there any possible date for the 2nd round?

Not yet.

Do we still go for mid-feb?

Yes.
746  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: January 18, 2017, 09:29:02 PM
Thats outdated and the scammer tag was removed. Those who had it now have negativ trust ratings by 'OldScammerTag'.

Thx for the reply. I think it would've been quite handy to keep it Smiley as one would know right away if a user is a scammer instead of going through their negative feedback and sort out what is legitimate and what is not.
747  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: January 18, 2017, 12:32:51 PM
SCAMMER:Manually applied by administration, regardless of post count and gets 5 red Xs under his name.

Was wondering about this one, as I've never seen it under anyone's username. I assume a user doesn't apply to become a scammer Grin, how does one get this tag under their username? Should other users report them? Is there some kind of procedure to follow? Thx.

my web wallet has not synced completely yet would it be ok to receive ANS in it?

Well, your transaction will be on the blockchain, and funds will be on the address you sent them to, however you won't have access to your funds until your wallet is synced. If you think your wallet won't have synced by the time you need to have access to your funds, then maybe it would be a good idea to move them to another exchange.
749  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 18, 2017, 09:15:23 AM
I participated in the first distribution. For the second distribution, do I need to do the link again if my btc are still in the same address?

No you don't. Check your address on transition.byteball.org and ask the transition bot for the list of your linked addresses and their balances to be sure everything is fine (and it will be).
750  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 18, 2017, 08:40:44 AM
Not sure I understand it, if I receive byte and blackbyte in the first round, why I can't be sent the two on the second round? Why I need to "register" my address? If let's say I did not move the byte and blackbyte received.

What is needed to receive blackbytes are your BB address and your device address, this one is only known for linked (registered) BB addresses. So if all your bytes are available on linked BB addresses, then you don't have to do anything. If you have bytes on not linked BB addresses, then to receive blackbytes (for the bytes you'll receive in the second round), either link those addresses or move their bytes to your linked addresses.

If the bytes are on the addresses you linked in the first round, then you have nothing to do. To be sure, ask the bot and check the addresses it replies and their balances.

Salut ^^

Hello

752  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 17, 2017, 06:16:50 PM
I just want to know if the bot will check the address again in the future, because the latest it has shown me is the 0 balance.

Yes it does. Sometimes, the bot goes off-line and Tony's intervention is needed to put it back on-line. It is responding right now.

How can i make a backup of my byteball funds? I couldn´t find any button for a storage or a copy!

short answer, i know anybody described it but couldn´t find post.

Back up your seed: Device Settings > Backup, and your data directory, check here https://github.com/byteball/byteball#byteball-backups-and-recovery for the location depending on your operating system.
753  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo ICO - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: January 17, 2017, 10:51:05 AM
Is it worthy to buy BTCD now and Swap with KMD?

If you think the KMD price will be higher than the ICO price, then the math-answer is yes. Actually, even it falling under the ICO price to some extent wouldn't hurt your BTCD investment (at current prices). Having said that, know that there's always a risk involved, BTCD could go down or up, KMD could launch at more or less than the ICO price. Assess your risk and invest accordingly.
754  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo ICO - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: January 17, 2017, 09:56:18 AM
I suppose that there is reluctance to buy BTCD up to .006512 conversion price out of fear of what good KMD will be when they are not tradeable?

The same has been observed when the ICO started ... the price of BTCD rose, then stabilized a bit before going down. There's a probability that we'll witness the same, well now the release is more concrete than when the ICO started, so buys may increase, afterwards I think it will highly depend on when Komodo becomes exchangeable. And yes, there's also the risk that Komodo will trade under the ICO price, let's hope BTCD price doesn't drag KMD price down and that it would be the other way around.
755  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Xaurum [XAUR] on: January 17, 2017, 09:49:56 AM
So if I was to Donate (destroy) 22k XAUR, commonwealth would increase by ~10g of gold?

true that.

Just above your post, I explained why this is actually not true Smiley. I would be grateful if you could explain a bit why you think the commonwealth would increase after XAURs are destroyed. Also, can you please point out what is incorrect in my explanation? Thx.

who pointed what's incorrect in your post?? not me. you are also right, but @pythonium was askin about burning (donation) not melting. every xaurum in circulation has more gold if someone burn or donate. so from the other point of wiew commonwealth increases I have more gold behind my xaurums.

If you say that it is true just after I said it wasn't, then one answer has to be incorrect Smiley. Anyway, we are saying the same thing, yes gold behind your XAURs will increase when XAURs are burned, but commonwealth (the total gold supply backing the total Xaurum supply) won't change.
756  Local / Annonces / Re: [ANN] Byteball on: January 17, 2017, 09:34:21 AM
Le bot de trading est maintenant disponible sur le livenet (à vos propres risques et périls Smiley). Rendez-vous sur https://byteball.org et cliquez sur Buy or sell bytes afin de chatter avec le bot. Bon trading Wink.

If you melt XAUR then you'll get its gold value, meaning the commonwealth will decrease by the value you get after melting, and so will the Xaurum supply, so in the end nothing really changes. Otherwise, I don't know how you can burn all that XUAR at once ... Anyway, if you burn XAUR the commonwealth will stay the same but the gold value 1 XAUR could be melted for, will increase, so you'd make XAUR holders happier Smiley.

It would make sense to get on the better exchange. Did they not plan to release another 4 million coins?

Actually, in my opinion, it doesn't really make sens to list this coin on an exchange now, if other ICO rounds are going to be held in the future. This means the price should be controlled in some way. On one hand, why would an investor participate in a second round if the price on the exchange would be less than what would be offered during the second round? On the other, why would the team hold a second round if the price on the exchange would be higher than what they would offer? In this case their second round would just be a huge sell order for all buyers to buy from ... Or am I missing something? In this case, can anyone tell me what please?
760  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] eGaaS: Electronic Government as a Service on: January 16, 2017, 09:45:00 PM
What is your opinion with trading site in mercatox, I think this is a trading site that is really good, for the premiere of egaas, without spending a lot of money to add egaas in exchange mercatox ..

I think I read about that exchange vaguely is some thread ... Let's say it's my first time hearing of it Smiley, so I looked it up on the net: https://mercatox.com/exchange. Volumes seem very low there, anyway, I have no idea if this exchange would be a good fit for eGaaS ... Let's hope they read posts Smiley and consider alternatives.
