Are interest payments suspended due to the platform migration?  Haven't received one today...

None here either ...
2002  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: December 17, 2013, 11:37:24 PM
On several occasions recently it seems my orders to the Bitstamp exchange didn't get place ... once for about 20 minutes as I watched the market frequently trade through my price. I love BFX, but the site is flawed and traders need to stay on their toes.

Bitfinex is HK based, and not directly affected by mainland regulatory position re: deposits and withdrawals. Yet.

Hello,

If you can send by PM some order references I'd be interested in this. We are not aware of such problems. Please note that limit orders are not place on Bitstamp orderbook, so for example limit bid will only be matched by limit ask on Bitstamp, not by market orders from Bitstamp.

Thanks
Raphael

Thank you that is clear enough. I'm only using limit orders ... apparently why I'm not seeing them.

2004  Economy / Speculation / Re: most possible reason for china "ban" on: December 17, 2013, 09:23:16 AM
I'm in China, and I have a local colleague in the office with me who has been helping with some Bitcoin things. We talked about events today at length, and I'll share here:

This is what he told me he read in this morning's press:

BTC-China 'heard' that financial institutions had been asked to cease providing/receiving cash for the exchange, so BTCC called around. According to the press someone at Tenpay confirmed to BTCC that government officials had told them they are not to transmit cash to BTCC during/after Chinese New Year - I don't know the exact date but roughly around end-Jan. BTCC made similar calls to the banks but they declined to confirm or deny anything on the matter. But generally the understanding is that government officials have notifified all financial institutions not to accept/send cash to BTCC - we assume the directive is also effective for all other alt-currency exchanges.

I will also share his thoughts, from a local perspective:

The move was driven by a desire/perceived need to control capital flows. My own view is that recent terrorist events, and well as recent regulatory moves overseas, also prompted this move by China's govenment. (Some may not be aware, but recently there have been several 'terrorist' attacks by persecuted Muslim groups. That is a whole 'nother, lets not start. I can confirm, however, that security at airports has tightened noticeably.)

As to the question of 'what comes next' he's of the view that the excange(s) won't be forced to close per se, and BTC cannot/will not be made illegal. He likened it to Porn on the web. Government can ban it, and do all it can to restrict it, but anyone who makes the effort can find it. My colleague said BTC trading will continue - but in what form and manner remains to be seen. We agreed that BTCC is going to have to either find a way to allow deposits/withdrawals, or somehow restructure its business.

As for arb / money flow opportunities, Chinese can get assets/cash to HK pretty easily, so there should be a robust arb between HK and BTCC, and BTC/value may flow into the BTCC exchange in that way.

2005  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Hardware in Chengdu China on: December 16, 2013, 04:22:03 AM
I'm told his US$2500 rig runs at 180-220G and currently generates about 0.1 BTC/day ... does that sound right? How much better could one do building a rig from scratch? Or how does that compare with rigs available in the US?
2006  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Hardware in Chengdu China on: December 16, 2013, 03:06:05 AM
Hi everyone.

I"m an American based in Chengdu / US West Coast ... currently in contact with this guy in Chengdu (see links) about buying my first mining rig. He says he has one available on 25 Dec (yes Christmas ...) that he can sell for RMB 15000 or about USD2500. I'm speaking to him through an intermediary and still waiting for specs. Apparently he has done well for himself mining ...

What should I expect for that price? I'm familiar with parts of a PC, but have a real job and not a lot of time to be playing with hardware, so wondering if it makes sense to just buy a rig or hire someone locally to build one for me?

Perhaps this belongs in the Noob forum ... but thought perhaps everyone would be interested in learning with me about the state of alt-currency mining in West China. Links follow:

Btw, late in the Chinese article I believe it states he sells rigs for up to ~USD ++100k - what the hell kind of rig is that?

Fees on interest?

Supposed to be 10% (uninsured) but I'm calculating I'm short about 13%. Is there some other fee/expense that I'm missing?

Indamuck loves Bitfinex!
2009  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: December 10, 2013, 05:42:22 PM
Over 7 million lent out and rates at 0.6% a day?  What happened......lol

0.6% per day sounds less than 219% per year? Or is it just risk taking considering Bitcoin doubles around every 3-4 months?

Sound like a classical bubble. How long will the party last is anyone guess.

These rates are fairly low for leverage trading something that is MUCH more volatile than 1% a day.

Have any lenders here had to eat a loss of principal while lending through Bitfinex, and can relate the circumstances/experience here?

Site design is pretty on the eyes, but sh*tty ... needlessly convoluted and obtuse ...
2011  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: December 10, 2013, 07:01:46 AM
No, at minimum you should be able to move the coins which you would own from buying on the exchange to move them to your margin trading wallet. NOT the other way around.

$3200 in my Trading wallet
$1950 LTC position in said Trading wallet

No other positions

Software is forcing a $1791 margin loan at 0.63% per day into my portfolio.

I don't need a f*ckin loan, for anything.

Where is the rocket science?
2012  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: December 10, 2013, 06:43:01 AM

You must use the exchange wallet, not the trading wallet for your purchase. The trading wallet is purely for margin trading. What you would then do is transfer the bitcoins to your trading wallet and then take a $200 loan.

https://bitfinex.com/pages/howitworks

I actually love their system and admire how it was conceived.

At minimum I should be able to move my position from the Margin wallet to the Exchange wallet. Currently I 'm locking into financing a position I don't need financing for.

That is a sloppy site design and a crock of sh*t no matter how you slice it.
2013  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: December 10, 2013, 05:51:10 AM
I like Bitfinex a lot, but miffed at what looks like a blatant rip off, dishonest dealing, as follows:

I opened an account, designated a 'trader' account, with US$5k, and proceeded to buy BTC and LTC in the amount of around US$5200.

Now any reasonable person would think that my margin loan requirement was only US$200 ... but I find that Bitfinex automatically finances all positions in a 'Trader' wallet ... I ended up paying near 1%/day for US$5.2k loans that I didn't even need. Their software is automatically set up to do this.

Even when I re-designate my account as 'Exchange' and sell some of my position, there is no way to move my existing positions from the 'Trader' wallet to the 'Exchange' wallet, I'm stuck watching their software continue to fund this fully-funded position with usurious loans.

That is not sloppy programming, poor webdesign, or some casual oversight. It is a pretty crummy way to conduct business. Bitfinex gonna make some money off of unwitting and/or inattentive traders this way ... likely funding these loans directly ... shame.

I can't even login to CampBX today ... anybody else doing ANYTHING with them now?
2015  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: campbx customers service is AWFUL on: December 03, 2013, 03:33:09 AM
Is CampBX down today? I can't even log in to the site.

Previously the site said they would begin accepting ACH transfers today, wassup with that?

'Verification' is supposed to take 5 business days ... today is day #7 with no response.
2016  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: November 27, 2013, 03:47:51 AM
Does someone in Japan, with a Japanese bank account, have some advantage in withdrawing from Mt. Sucks? Forgive me for not reading the entire thread ... it is looooong, and full of horror stories around wire transfers/SEPA/BTC withdrawals.

It sounds like wait times have not improved?

How are withdrawals working for those withdrawing to a Japanese bank account?

Thanks all!
2017  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-E.com exchange Bitcoin, Litecoin, Namecoin <-> USD\BTC (fee 0.2%) on: November 26, 2013, 07:08:17 AM
So, I opened an account, submitted my docs, and got 'authorization' e-mails.

Wife and I live on different continents - if she wires money to my BTC-e account, from a US bank account solely in her name, is there ANY prospect of this going through?

Am I the only person that is 'authorized' to wire money into this account?

Anyone make wire deposits in this manner before?

Thanks.
2018  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Flying to China to Arbitrage 100-500k on: November 25, 2013, 11:39:08 AM
I'm an American in China. If you can source cheap bitcoins and send them, I can sell them here and credit your accounts overseas in USD ideally ACH in the US. PM me for more. I have insatiable use for RMB here, and access to USD overseas. Need a flow of cheap BTC.
2019  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Mt.Gox AML/KYC Process Explained on: November 25, 2013, 11:28:40 AM
FYI, even though their 'funding options' page still says the bank receiving fee is approx $15 USD, it is now $42 USD..

Is that a $42 fee for receiving wire transfers? And these are taking 7-10 business days to process? You cannot be serious ...
