1961  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu | Largest Bitcoin Poker Site | No Banking | Fast Cashouts on: February 15, 2015, 11:19:19 PM
Why haven't they left their original software up until they got the new version sorted out? Everyone is playing at other sites today: Betcoin, Nitrogen ... they are popping up by the dozens. Seals needs a complete resort on the business execution side or they are dead ...

I've encountered yet another bug in the BFX swap system regarding wrong durations. A swap in my "provided list" has just popped up showing 27 days when this was never issued by me and wasn't in the book just 5 hours ago while showing it has been taken nearly 2 days ago. I've written to the BFX support. No idea what is happening at the moment but they should better get their lending system cleaned up. There are quite a few bugs popping up at the moment.

I think there is a glitch as I've found the same. There is a 'swap provided' in my account for BTC at the FRR rate/30-days issued just a couple hours ago ... I never set at FRR and all my BTC was lent yesterday for only 4-5 days. I would never lend for 30 days. This is a serious glitch ... now my BTC is tied up for 30 days ?!?
1963  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: May 07, 2014, 10:08:48 PM
The last 'interest' or swap payment to my account on 6 May appears slightly short. Anyone else notice this?

The 'interest rate' has been running at about 0.000653 but on that date I received about 0.000616 - and yes, I am aware that BFX takes 15% off the top. Beyond that 15% my payment appears to still have been short.

My primary concern is that this small deviation may be indicative of larger issues? A recent software change or maintenance perhaps?

In the past BFX' swap engine appears to have halted/lagged the calculation of interest when taken offline and then resumed.

It is a small amount (for me) and I'm not losing sleep. Still, BFX remains in development. We should all keep our eyes open for potential glitches like this and do our part to help develop/grow the platform.

If I've miscalculated or overlooked something - apologies in advance. (Don't think I have ...)
1964  Economy / Trading Discussion / Short Selling - What, How, Where? on: April 28, 2014, 09:10:00 AM
What can be sold short efficiently in the alt-coin space?!?

Of course we can short BTC and LTC through Bitfinex, BTC-e, and few other alternatives.

How about other alt coins? Equities? Mining shares?

Is there a public market for shares that can be borrowed/sold short? Aside from setting up a fake website and selling mining capacity, is there a means of short-selling some of these mining contracts?

Thanks in advance.

My 'swap payment' appears to be significantly (~20%) short this morning. Rates haven't dipped that much, and my funds have been fully lent throughout the prior day.

Is there an issue with swap payments related to the security issues yesterday??

Anyone else see discrepancy with their swap payment this morning?

Oh yes, i believe you, that would be a huge incentive for market makers. But for your proposal to happen ...

you might not be a trader but you have some brains.

Nice to know that, I'll keep you in mind in case I want to share a beer one of those days...

errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
is anyone else hving problems.. having to put in their 2FA multiple times.. till it works? -_-
Nope, just sync the time on your mobile phone again, this is one of the most common solutions in that regard.

cool i'll try that.

If you ever have any problem signing in, or anything looks odd during the sign-in process, pause and make sure you are signing in to the 'bitfinex dot com' website and not one of the 'biz' or 'org' sites that are targeting users.
1968  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: March 03, 2014, 06:14:04 AM
Just a head’s up for everyone:

The company has warned about this, but I’ll say it again: make sure you are logging in via the bitfinex.COM website. (Put the correct link on your toolbar, and make sure you use it every time.)

I had been a little sloppy, and was occasionally attempting to access my accounts via phishing sites like “bitfinex dot biz” If you do a yahoo or MSN search for “bitfinex” a link to the phishing site will be advertised right on top. The phishing site will capture all of your login credentials, including your OTP, and attempt to use them to withdraw BTC from your account.

Late Friday I stumbled into this and had a small account cleaned out in the blink of an eye. Damn they are fast!

Long story short, I've been reassured that BFX is taking measures to ensure others don’t get tripped up with this. Their response/effort is satisfactory in my view, and I continue to keep my BTC & cash at BFX, in confidence that things will continue to improve.

Let’s all be careful out there.

Send a mail to the support then, this thread is not an official way to contact Bitfinex.

I know - but the response from e-mail is slow.

My BTC deposit shows 8 confirms on the blockchain ... but still AWOL in my account. BFX says they deposit after 3 confirms, but how prompt are they? Guys - can you take a look?

Do they query deposit addresses every hour or something? How patient should I be?

"We require 3 confirmations for Bitcoin transactions (about half an hour)"

2 hrs and 15 confirms ... wer da coins?!?

Received

They stepped out for Frappuccinos ... uggh.

So umm, can bitfinex trades still be executed on bitstamp? Is there any official word on why they stopped?

They stopped that. If they need liquidity, I believe BFX knocks on Stamps door, but the order books remain separate.

I have no Idea what your trying to say. I'm asking about the ability to route ones trades on bitstamp from bitfinex. It doesn't seem to be there any more? And I'm wondering why.

The routing option was removed a long time ago. There is a longer explanation, but I don't know what it is ... lol.
1975  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Source close to potential investors: 3 companies bidding on Gox on: February 26, 2014, 08:59:56 AM
You guys are all assuming a purchaser will necessarily make all customers whole. That doesn't look realistic. The best Gox can hope for is to get bids/proposals, and go with the best they are offered.

Karpeles doesn't have a choice - he is a gaping liability to Gox and will get f*cked in any transaction. it won't be milk and honey for customers either. Maybe a quarter cup of milk, but certainly no honey ...

BFX - can you guys make some general statement re: whether the 'platform' has been able to liquidate margin traders in a timely manner during this downturn?? In other words, to what degree are lenders at risk here?

Thanks.

I'm not seeing a "flash crash" here.  The drops seem slow enough to properly liquidate people.

As recent events have reminded us, it is not always as it 'seems.' A quick comment from BFX would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath. Yes, your observation is accurate and a little reassuring. Still, as a lender, I fish for as much reassurance as I can get ...

1979  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anyone familiar with 796 Exchange? They are offering free stock for signing up. on: February 18, 2014, 03:56:33 PM
So how many registered users on the exchange?

What was the max amount of registered users online at the same time??

TX

While I cannot answer your question specifically, I have been trading there and have been quite happy with the service. Liquidity could always be better, but it is still adequate for my size. I've found it to be the best platform for hedging. And I've gotten good response from 'customer service' on a few occasions when I've needed, through no fault of their own. And they've had no issues with down time, freezing withdrawals, or the like.

I'd recommend giving them a try. Downside is it doesn't appear they have a native English speaker on staff, so the website is not translated all that well, and that might inhibit other westerners from using the platform? I started using them with a considerable amount of skepticism, but I've been pleasantly surprised so far ...

Raphael,

What is the plan for Monday?? At what levels are you guys going to 'pull the plug' again? (You really want to be doing this every week? Perhaps some circuit breaks would come in handy ...)

So again Monday Mt. Sux is going to throw a hand grenade into the Bitcoin market place. It has been pre-announced in their last press release. No crystal balls required:

"but we will be doing extensive testing before bitcoin withdrawals are reactivated. We will publish an update on the situation on Monday."

We could be up or down 20%, depending. Easily BTC-e will show another spike to sub $1 for LTC.

***At what levels will you need to take the BFX platform offline, and for how long??? Who gets stopped out, and who gets a nod and a wink? Come to think of it, that was never really made clear last week ...
