601  Economy / Economics / Re: Big in Japan: giant Gundam robot makes its first moves in Yokohama on: September 27, 2020, 01:41:51 PM
Damn, I'm really impressive how far advance the Japanese technology sector, the movement is fluid and it's like a full move scene from Transformers. This is another step, and for sure Japan has been developing far more superior robots for the future.

The thing is that they support these kinds of project, I don't know if that will be the same case in our country or other countries as well. They are known as one of the technologically advanced countries and animes so I guess that is the reason why they also gave the green light to this project. This will be developed and be adapted and I hope people would not put an idea of making this as a military weapon or such.
602  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The meme that started it all - "Magic internet money Join Us!" on: September 27, 2020, 12:56:30 PM
The first thing that reminded me of this is the avatar of mk4. I've seen this before but right now what quickly comes to my mind is his avatar. Either way, it is great how those people in Reddit reminisce the past price of bitcoin. All I can remember is that I am struggling with how to double my satoshis in Freebitco.in then my friend gave me some mbtcs that he's regretting now.
603  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A woman has been arrested in the United States for hiring a killer with bitcoin on: September 27, 2020, 12:23:31 PM
It's a shame that people consider murder to deal with personal issues. It's good that the killer wasn't hired, though. As for Bitcoin, I don't think the means of payment should be emphasized. What's bad is the killer part, not the Bitcoin part. But when Bitcoin is mentioned in such stories, the content of the story casts a shadow on BTC reputation as well. As if killers aren't hired with USD.

Bitcoin has nothing to do with this incident. Consider that she could have paid fiat to the killer too. The focus should not be on what is paid to the killer, the main point is women who did this wrong thing by hiring a killer. I don't think coin desk should emphasize on this story much as it is not related to crypto currencies.

So true, as said by @mk4, it is just a headline because bitcoin is included. I guess this also shows us how bitcoin is not actually an anonymous crypto currency since they could still track the girl. I am confused with the other information given though.
604  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: September 27, 2020, 09:47:22 AM
Correct me if Im wrong but if Miami advance through the Finals, AFAIK, this is their first finals after Lebron left the Miami.

You are definitely right, Lebron gave Miami Heat a championship, I think that was 2 times if I'm not mistaken, not he is trying to beat his old team if indeed the Miami Heat will advance.

They are the champions twice as far as I know too with Chalmers, Bosh, Wade and Allen, most of them though are retired now except Mario Chalmers whose playing on other league. A lot of histories are being rewritten, like the Lebron's run is the same with Kobe's run to his fourth ring, then the yellow and the green rivalry.
605  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do people claim cryptocurrencies aren’t an asset? on: September 27, 2020, 12:06:43 AM
...The important now almost all people are using bitcoin and adoption will increase that makes it more valuable in the near future.

The fact that people don't support bitcion means that there are a lot of peole taht are not using bitcoin let alone know what it is and crypto currencies as a whole. It is said that it is based on the fact that it is decentralized and it is just backed with the trust of the investors has. For me it is an asset, with a lot of profits it gave to people, being backed reassure people but even without that, bitcoin is still an asset.
606  Economy / Economics / Re: Why criminals prefer cash (Fiat) on top of crypto? on: September 26, 2020, 11:46:34 PM
In my opinion there are still many people who don't understand crypto, so it's only natural that criminals prefer fiat over crypto.
Moreover, fiat has been used for thousands of years by humans, so it is only natural that fiat is preferred by criminals. Because
human nature prefers something that he already understands. And also criminals looking for the easy to spend, in fact, fiat is
easier to spend than crypto.

I think it is not about bitcoin not being that liquid but because of the fact that with the knowledge that we already have with bitcoin and the blockchain, people could easily track the transactions happening using a bitcoin. Even though fiat are centralized, there is no way that they could track it since there is no records to look into.
607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin be the ideal currency of the future? on: September 26, 2020, 11:30:11 PM
This is very normal. In my opinion, Bitcoin will be the ideal currency. Because Bitcoin gives us many benefits and even in such a pandemic situation Bitcoin is going with our highest service. However, if Bitcoin can overcome the difficulties that are there, it will become the ideal current any how.

Doesn't mean it gave us great benefits or usually, profits, means that it is an ideal currency. Decentralization is one of the main reasons why it is said to be an ideal currency but we all know that the government will not allow a decentralized crypto currency replace with what we have now. I think I see it as the best alternative for fiat.
608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for salary on: September 26, 2020, 11:09:48 PM
I came from Philippines also and I second emotion to your opinion because there are three billion people here in the Philippines but less than 1% of our population who knows about cryptocurrency and some of them knows only about cryptocurrency but they are not users so I don't think giving salary through cryptocurrency would be possible here in our country.

I am also from the Philippines, kababayan. I live in a province and it is true that there are only a few people know what bitcoin is, let alone crypto currencies. Usually they know some local exchange but they don't actually use it for bitcoins but just for the fiat. People don't even know what it is, let alone use it and receive it as a salary.
609  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do think about skill games? on: September 26, 2020, 10:02:40 PM
esports is same as sport betting so there is nothing wrong with having them under the skill based games but e-sports are literally don't have enough data so we can't really make much analysis so its kind of 50/50 game.

I don't know what you mean but there are a lot of ways for you to get datas about these players and about a team. IF you are a fan of a team or the game itself, that is a huge advantage for you. There are a lot of information on the internet and there are also a lot of fans of esports online so I don't think you could say that there is not enough data to analyze.
I am not saying we can't find the data, just said there is not enough data to compare the teams and the players abilities but with traditional sports we have lots of experiences with the players ability so it could be easier to predict the players performance which is not likely to be possible with an E-sport player.

That is why I am saying that if you are a fan of the game itself, it is a huge advantage for you. https://liquipedia.net/ give us great records of these players, people also give their analysis and predictions here in the forum in this threads:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5271455.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5248531.0

And if you really wanted datas, you could just google search them. Past games and past records of players are all over the internet which could give you the information and the data you wanted to. Either way, I don't think you would be betting on these games if you don't know what they are playing or what even are they doing in the game. Like what I've said in the first line.

611  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: September 26, 2020, 12:29:33 AM
Very well, Rondo has great performance in their last two winnings, his classic fake pass was still there and can still confuse the defense of their opponent. He will be a great factor in this series, even in the NBA finals if indeed Lakers will break the curse on the opposite team of Denver who came back from 3-1 disadvantage.

We are just talking about Rondo and Howard but how about McGee? He's been in the bench for so long in this series and I think he could contribute in the team with his under the basket offense. With a lot of great players in their roster, I guess they are having short period in the court. Is Javale Macgee injured? He just played for five minutes in the last game.
612  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do think about skill games? on: September 25, 2020, 11:49:24 PM
There are other games that is not mainly about luck, but also skill and knowledge/experience. People also include Poker and Blackjack as one of those skill-based games, I don't know if esports is included in sports betting but it is another example. As you said it is a about gather information and putting your money into a team with a higher odds of winning, it is usually all about analyzing and experience and some luck.
...
AFAIK, just betting on e-sports aren't considered as skill based games. It's more on knowledge and trust on what will happen to the game.

And I quite confused where would you put esports betting since we only have skill-based games and luck-based games, I think it is obvious that it is in skill-based game. You already said that it is more on a knowledge, knowledge about the game, the teams and their capabilities that is why you could analyze what might happen, just like sports betting.
613  Economy / Economics / Re: Why criminals prefer cash (Fiat) on top of crypto? on: September 25, 2020, 11:38:36 PM
As of late, crypto has become extremely popular due to the negative effects of COVID-19 in the mainstream economy. People are starting to consider crypto to be a safe-haven against the traditional monetary system empowered by banks worldwide. Yet, the vast majority still relies on Fiat for day-to-day transactions because of its price stability and widespread acceptance in the mainstream world.

I guess this depends on the country but it is true that it became popular, people are now asking me where to buy and where to earn it though compared to the whole population, it is still small. People here are not actually looking at it as a safe-haven but they wanted to add their source of income by investing in these crypto currencies.
614  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do people claim cryptocurrencies aren’t an asset? on: September 25, 2020, 10:55:30 PM
People are quite intrigued with what bitcoin and crypto currencies right now. I guess the reason behind of that is because people have no jobs right now and some of my friends knew I have an investment which is bitcoin and people ask me how to earn it and where to buy it, that people grew and there are a lot of people asking me this month. It really takes time even though bitcoin is legal in our country for some years now, they are now just desperate to earn right now because of the limitations they had this pandemic.
615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for salary on: September 25, 2020, 10:17:11 PM
Legality of paying btc to your employees or anybody you want to, depends on the country you live in and the state of crypto there. To be very honest, there is nothing that can stop you from paying BTC to your workers, but you need their consent that they are interested in getting paid with BTC. You get paid in BTC, your campaign pays you after calculating your total payment in USD and then convert it to BTC based on its value at that time. I get paid the same way. So what's the problem?

Actually it is very difficult to implement this in a company. First not everyone will have know how about bitcoins and secondly the crypto currency must be legal in the country where this system needs to be implemented. Also you know that taxes are calculated and deducted on salary, companies pays taxes also, all of this needs to be incorporated into the system also.

Well, this depends on the time and company we are talking about. If this is implemented, that just means that bitcoin is not just the crypto currency we know right now, it is been a popular alternative to fiat in this world. That means it is legal and almost all of the people in this world know it is. That also means that income taxes, regulation and the system is not a problem.
616  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Less Volatile Coins on: September 25, 2020, 09:54:38 PM
It is true that as a newbie, there are a lot of doubts about these fast movements since you never know what is happening or why is that happening. The best thing to do is just to invest and eat up your fear. When I first joined, I hesitated and instead of me buying at a three-digit price, I bought late when the price is already increasing. For now, bitcoin may be volatile but it could be anywhere in the near future rather than a USD.
617  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do think about skill games? on: September 25, 2020, 01:45:28 PM
you should have fast instincts on whats in front of you to precisely do this strategy. however, skill games has better chance of winning if you know your game. because if we're talking about luck-based games, you dont have to think on this game, just go with the flow and hoping that luck will strike you. so dont expect also that you are on the winning side on this one.

If those skills games are sports betting, then we really need skill, and yes, I agree that the chance will be better than the gambling games based luck, especially if we really know those games. But sometimes, the skills games need us to learn more or gather more information to select the right method or team/player, especially if we are lack information to choose. If we want to win those games, we need to have more information from other valid sources to increase the chance to win.

Although I'm for the Lakers, if Denver Nuggets wants to win this bracket they need to do again what they've done for Clippers.

Not just LA Clippers but also Utah Jazz. That is why the meme of the Denver Nuggets overcoming 3-1 is all over the internet now. Saying like they planned this all along, and will come back to the series but this is LA Lakers we are talking about. I guess they wouldn't be able to come back from that like what they did to Jazz and Clippers. Lakers are force to reckon with.
619  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is good strategy or technique for Toss Coin? on: September 25, 2020, 02:01:47 AM
Quote from: michellee link=topic=5251680.msg55236531#msg5523653
If that so, we really don't need to have the skills to win those games. It is almost the same as dice games, which are based on luck, so it will not be easy to win the games. We can try to enjoy the games, but we might not have to expect bigger ones since the games need the luck to win. If the game is based on luck, I think we don't have to use strategy or we can use it, but we don't have to hope to win.

Yes it's almost the same as dice with only two option to win. You are also able to use strategy of increase bet every time you lost. That's the only strategy I have in mind when playing that kind of games . But that way of betting will not always work and you don't know how long the pattern of lose will end .

Dice is a game with only two option, it is either to win or to lose. Also, there is no way that we have a strategy or a technique with a Toss Coin since that would be usually the two results and we can't do anything about it. What you are saying though is a betting system that people could use and it could also be used with other luck-based games like dice and roulette.
620  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: September 24, 2020, 11:34:14 PM

Honestly finishing the series early has a lot more weight than people think. Miami is a very young core of players, they already do not get that much fatigue anyway but when they finish early, and rest, and go ahead and play with a team like Lakers who actually have a lot older players, Lebron is at the far front of this, he is still one of the (if not the) best player in the league but he is a bit older now, so fatigue could still have a trouble with him, and AD is still younger but he is older than almost all miami players as well, danny green too, morris brother too, mcgee, howard, rondo there is a ton of veteran players. So playing more games means really more for them. Obviously this is only applicable for Lakers, Nuggets are still incredibly young, if they face on finals I doubt few more games would make a difference.

They're not that far if you will be making an average of it, Miami Heat Roster's age avg. is at 27.14 while the LA Lakers Roster is at 29, that is just 2 years gap. These "old players" that you are saying are used to pressure and long games, fatigue is not a problem but in this bubble the thing that matters is how you would play the game. There is not that much fans to hype you up, there is no home court advantage, there is just theirselves playing their ball minding their team and theirselves.
