941  Economy / Economics / Re: Countries and their own cryptocurrency! on: July 11, 2020, 01:24:54 PM
It is beneficial for the government to show interest in cryptocurrency. This may be one of the levers of power. By controlling the cryptocurrency, you can have a large income from paying taxes. Cryptocurrency is always expensive. Perhaps in the near future, more and more countries will enter their cryptocurrency and control it.

I don't think that the government will be able to control a decentralized crypto currency and as big as bitcoin. If they are one of the whales that might have 20% in the circulation, they can manipulate it but I don't think they will be able to control it. Some countries are legalizing bitcoin but not because they want to control it or even manipulate it but because they want to protect their people from it.

If they will be attracted to it, I guess they will be after the technology of it.
942  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin be the ideal currency of the future? on: July 11, 2020, 12:17:58 PM
Well considering the rate at which fiat and paper currencies are disappointing, bitcoin seems a good option, but even bitcoin is affected by price volatility, it would be a perfect fit if it is a stable coin, my opinion though

Bitcoin is affected by volatility positively and negatively. If it is stable, I don't think we will be seeing this price right now. As a decentralized crypto currency, being volatile is normal but I do respect your opinion since for you that is the ideal bitcoin that might be the ideal currency in the future. As long as most of the people here look at it as a speculative asset, I don't think it will never be used as a currency.
943  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why people are happy only when the price goes up? on: July 11, 2020, 01:33:46 AM
Because they only think of profit. They do not understand the benefits of lowering the price of Bitcoin. This increases the chances of investing more in Bitcoin. This is a great opportunity for new Bitcoin investors. However, for those who have bought Bitcoin at a very high price, it is actually a lot of sad news.

Well, we can't really remove that thought to people since most of us here wanted to earn from it. It is more of an asset and not a currency, to be honest. You can't blame them but still, they should be able to understand the fact of what you are saying. We can't really control the market so they should be able to adapt to the sudden changes.

Also, who would be having fun when you are losing, right? It is inevitable in the market but still, you are losing that won't make anyone happy especially those that invested at the wrong time.
944  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Potential Valorant Esports betting sites on: July 10, 2020, 11:44:27 PM
I really hope this is the case.

It is good that the NBA is canceled since I can save right now some of the money that I should've used to bet if there are games right now. Though my urge to bet is also getting bad so I stick to some online games, usually Dota 2 and CSGO. This game still needs to be developed since there are still a lot of bugs but I do want to bet on it since there are tournaments that happened the past few weeks.

You should check this article for these betting sites where it is available for you to bet on Valorant.

https://topgamersguide.com/best-valorant-betting-sites/

As far as I know, there are a lot of tournaments lined up for this game so I think we should really talk about Tier 1 team and players that we could bet on.

https://liquipedia.net/valorant/Main_Page
I guess you're talking about T1 formerly named as SKT T1 or SK telecom T1.
You can also check TSM, they're great, the meta breakers of valorant and defeated T1 on a recent tournament which is the T1 x Nerd Street Gamers Showdown.
T1 compose of pro players that have a lot of experience and already been in CS:GO pro scene. TSM is also the same, but the difference is, they always think up new strategies that no one is familiar with.

https://liquipedia.net/valorant/Team_SoloMid

I looked at their team and they are really great. As I said before, Wardell are being said to be the face of Valorant nowadays and he is paired up with Subroza which is also a great player. I am not counting their losses with their recent showdown match since Wardell and his company are not that serious in that game and because it is a showdown match.

I think Could 9 has also a good player since Relyks is added to them recently and they also have TenZ which is one of the popular names in the game. Another one of the favorite names in the pro scene is shroud and as far as I know, he also joined Liquid but they don't have any games right now.
945  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Life soundtrack for Gamblers? on: July 10, 2020, 02:08:54 PM
I think it is better for you to create one since it is really hard to use other music right now especially YouTube with a lot of people being hit by Copyright infringement. Lo-Fi is one of the most popular genres of music right now so maybe you can just create simple music in that kind of genre. Some people might also use your music to lighten up their mood while betting. Then try to add that on Spotify.

More like a recruitment agency I guess, but Greg is training separately outside this agency.

I am also not so sure with the other necessary information about what beobasket really do since information is very limited in their site and first time I heard of the service.

He's recruited so that means he is being paid as they trained him? Is that what it meant? For sure, Greg wanted to aim higher and this is getting close to what he wants to achieve. He is one of the most formidable players in the PBA court and all we can do now is wish him luck. What will happen to GSM right now? As far as I know, he's the best Centers GSM has.
947  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the US economy suddenly recovering? on: July 09, 2020, 11:48:53 PM
US is witnessing the second wave of the pandemic recently with over 50k cases recorded recently in a day

To be clear though, this is still not the 2nd wave they said it is still a part of the first wave. The first wave is still not flattened out and the reason for these new cases popping up is that the lockdowns are loosening up.

US economy recovery policy is flexible but there is currently no certainty that the economy will recover rapidly

As they said, the market is having good movements but that doesn't mean that the economy will be regaining that easily. This will really take years especially if we still experienced the 2nd wave which I hope we wouldn't.
948  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it possible to live without banks? on: July 09, 2020, 10:54:25 PM
Even though digital assets will serve as a great alternative in the nearest future, we are going to still need banks to convert to fiat in order to cater for our needs. At the moment, digital assets are not an acceptable means of exchange universally.
It will serve as great alternative and hopefully will develop service structure around itself so it will actually be possible to live without banks, with companies like coinbase, binance and etc (working with visa, master card and other big corporations)

Banks will never be removed in our lives though I also imagine in the past that these exchanges might be the next banks and they will be eating these banks and put it under them. But as you said, this will stay as an alternative maybe more like of an asset that people hold to generate profit in the long run.

I think as time will pass bitcoin will be like gold, right now we are using it but in the future, it will be an investment, an asset that people will hold while we use other means of payment.
949  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - Revolution or Evolution ? on: July 09, 2020, 10:04:04 PM
Bitcoin have proven it worth and had solved many issue,
from serving of main purpose of creation:
Payments without a third party involvement, as such it is to the holder what they feel it is.

For me, it is still early. Even though it is more than a decade, people are not seeing its worth and not really serving its purpose since it is treated as an asset right now and not an electronic cash that ia fully peer to peer. People are holding it for the sake of manipulating the price to go higher.

I don't even think that most people are using it as a payment but they use it since it has a value.
950  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin be the ideal currency of the future? on: July 09, 2020, 03:07:09 PM
Yeah, bitcoin will be ideal currency of the future and I trust it. Day by day the popularity of its increase. In my opinion one day every development country will accepted bitcoin.

I think this depends since each and everyone has had a different idea of how should be a currency be ideal. Most of us want it to be decentralized, other doesn't want it. We prefer a lot of things so I think we should be taking it to that argument. The question here is will bitcoin be used as a currency even though it is decentralized and volatile. Ideal or not, bitcoin has its good sides that will make people consider using it as a currency.
951  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: One game vs a variety: which gives higher potential to a casino? on: July 09, 2020, 01:51:49 PM
I don't know but for me, I go with one game online site. I started betting on sites like FreeBitco.in and PrimeDice since I am just playing Dice at that time. I guess with the growing community of crypto gamblers, the demand for other games grows with it and that just means more games they wanted.

For me, one game is the best. It is my personal preference since I will not be looking in another game and consider playing it which might cut my balance into two that will make me suffer in the long run.
952  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how big? on: July 09, 2020, 12:31:54 PM
Right now, I am scared to gamble $1K, and he did place almost $8.5M in his cryptocurrency betting. That is just surprising and a bit sad since that is a lot of money. Though he did that for some years based on the article so maybe he's putting $1M to $2M a year? Still, that is just surprising.

In terms of how big, I guess this answers it.

953  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: July 09, 2020, 11:44:12 AM
If this is the case then why does Tolentino wanted to reduce the tax of people working at home? Since we are talking about revenue, reducing the tax means having a negative effect on the economy, right?

That is reasonable. Remember that Meralco company does some magic in our electric consumption.

Just imagine the 8 hours or more of electricity consumption that supposed to be paid by companies now being shouldered by workers. That's not fair.

That makes sense. I remembered all of the posts I've read about people complaining about how large their bill is even though they are not really consuming that much. I don't know if that is a flaw on their side or maybe a misread of their bills since we all know how they make decisions since the lockdown happened like delaying their payment and some free bills.

I hope though that they pass this bill and make sure that these employers will be doing their job on correctly calculating the reduced tax these employees will be receiving. They're doing their jobs so I do hope they get something they deserve in return.
954  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it possible to live without banks? on: July 08, 2020, 11:56:36 PM
I believe that we can still live without bank. Beause we can see that from our ancestors they didnt use bank and yet they can still survive, as long as we can save money in our own way without using a bank  we can live, people are now using a bank and it seems like bank is now important, but as what i have seen we can still live without bank life will not stop if the bank will be closed.

But you should also consider that at that time, our ancestors are not really using money or fiat but just using their items to trade with other items. That is when they started also to use gold. Still, I don't think they needed a bank for that since they will still exchange that to something of the same worth like linen and other valuable stuff at that time.

Our ancestors did that and I think all of the ancestors of this world begun trading things and did not use paper money which I think would be very hectic to manage or administer.
955  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto Taxation on: July 08, 2020, 11:10:57 PM
Well, they can't really control bitcoin that is why they will just decide to put a tax on it or ban it in which I am sire that they will be putting a tax on it. They will be having an additional way of taxing people and the problem here comes with how to tax a decentralized crypto currency, that is why I thought they might indicate each person with their own wallets where the government would get a tax from. Still, people can evade that.
The government cannot tax a decentralized exchanger because they have no control over it. If they restrict the use of crypto in the country and they cannot come up with ways to tax decentralized platforms, then it is possible to simply ban its use. However, as we know the importance of centralized exchanges for traders, it has been part of the industry ever since it was opposed to being anonymous and having privacy.

I guess even though they can't control crypto currency or bitcoin in our country, they are still not planning anything to ban it, in fact, they are taking care of the users here in our country which is discussed in this thread.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5260318.0

I guess if bitcoin became mainstream, we should really be expecting them taxing bitcoin or other crypto currencies in the country. I will not be thinking how will they that but for now, it is good that they are taking care of the crypto users.
956  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Earn and save in Satoshi on: July 08, 2020, 10:18:10 PM
That is right since we never know how high will be the price in the future. And since we don't have that much to spend our money, except for essentials that we really needed in our houses, we should be able to save some money that either we can use to invest in bitcoin or maybe save that money so in the future that bitcoin is cheaper, you can use it. Maybe it will also be your savings.
957  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Philippines SEC warns against crypto investment. on: July 08, 2020, 09:19:58 PM
Some might say this as bad news but I think this is good news for me. Now we know that we are under the protection of the government and now we have someone to run to when we fall victim to these scammers. If they don't want crypto currencies, I think they will say that they will reconsider the use of it in the country but they didn't. It is nice to know that they are not against cryptos, I hope it would make people use or adopt it.
958  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: July 08, 2020, 01:40:01 PM
I'm so excited to see the first tip off hopefully we they can restart the season as soon as possible when everything is controlled.

Same here and I am not against open the PBA season as long as they will do all the precautionary measures to keep the league free from covid-19.
The amount stated above is for the purpose of the covid-19 response only, if we look at it, it tells us how much this pandemic has already damage our economy.

For simple math, I like to illustrate.

Revenue (from private) = Tax = Economy.

if we kill that revenue, our economy will sink

If this is the case then why does Tolentino wanted to reduce the tax of people working at home? Since we are talking about revenue, reducing the tax means having a negative effect on the economy, right?

really nba is still canceled ? i though some matches were resumed before . itl be bad to some because majority of the bettors are into it than compare to esport games like this  but its okay for you so that you wont spend money  . esports can be a great altnernative to bet on when classic sports games are not yet operational   . its so fast that new game like this do now have its own tourna , but why would they do that when the game could still be buggy since its still new

I guess he doesn't know or he used the wrong word. NBA is not cancelled, they are even planning to resume the season. We could say it is postponed since it might be understood that the season is done when we use the term cancelled. Either way, I hope the safety of each player and I will understand if they postponed again the continuation of the season.

I guess we will be sticking to esports for sometime now.
