What I wrote back on 21/8 is fairly similar

Segwit2X is designed to fail (Garzic is not even implementing Replay Protection) which will ensure Core supporters dislike it, and they can spread there ideas easily to those who are on the fence.
These little pumps in the BCH price are designed to shake out the core supporting BTC holders. They will play with the price until November enticing us to sell in various ways.
Then November comes, Segwit2X fails, Jihan switches to BCH and then the real push starts.
BTC is left with 10-20% of hash power and stalls for a few weeks/months until the difficulty re-calc.

No-body is left to hold back the BCH price and it is pushed dramatically upwards to try and create a viable alternative, Main stream media is saturated with anti BTC articles. BCH announce a bunch of partnerships and deals.

There is more to their plan, than we have seen so far.
Maybe good to pick up some cheap BCH over the next few months to help kill it later.
Everything that has happened so far was easily predictable in advance, this is just the opening (sacrificial) battle, in a war. Perhaps I am giving them too much credit, but, I think they are playing a longer game than we currently see.

This turned out to be pretty accurate, and I had no special insight, anyone can invent conspiracy theories.

That's was a very good prediction of what is now happening. The war on Bitcoin is just starting, and I fear that there will be a bloodbath coming. All because of ego and greed. Perhaps the SegWit2x cancellation was part of their plan. They knew what they were doing all along. It remains to be seen how strong and resilient the Bitcoin network is to that attack, and whether on not it will come out of it victorious. We will know soon enough.

bang on

Do you have any evidence that this document was written before yesterday, when lots of people myself included, imagined such conspiracy theories.
Its not on way bayback machine and there is no other link reference to it, so it looks to me like fud.

In this Twitter feed, many people confirm they read it as early as the time of the Bitcoin Cash fork (1 August 2017). So it should be genuine, unless the guys that confirm it are in on the FUD game...

It's a slaughterhouse...

Almost like my screen is bleeding.

I really NEED an ATH soon, to make use of those nice memes I made especially for it. Otherwise depression and suicidal thoughts will start to kick in...

Death by dumping...

BCH is soaring...

Good for those who still have them.

No worries for me. I even bought 2 BTC at 6300 €/coin, but I don't mind. I know it will turn around and reach a new ATH soon.

Don't panic, and just HoDL. Tried, tested and 100% proven strategy for big long-term gains...

Goes back a little further, actually:

Are we CCMF, gentlemen?
I Googled CCMF and came up with Carolina Country Music Fest! Is that what it means? LOL!  Cheesy

LOL, yes, you're right! I was a CCMF newbie, not too long ago...

Guys, seriously, I don't know if you've noticed it, but we've coined two new and ultra-cool crypto terms:

Carolina

Being roached out

IMO, they both deserve to be up there with HoDL, Bitcorn, and This Is Gentlemen.

I love it!

When buying a trezor, how can you be sure it doesnt get reprogrammed or something on the way here?

I believe there's no firmware present in a freshly-unpacked TREZOR. This means that, in order to be able to use it, you must download the firmware from SatoshiLabs (the creators of TREZOR) and program the device yourself. During this process, a digital fingerprint is displayed on the device's screen, that should exactly match the one shown on the computer screen. After doing all this, your TREZOR is supposed to be tamper-proof and ready to securely manage your keys.

Yes, but what if all those billions of users could just login to FB 2.0 using their legacy FB credentials? Wouldn't that be tempting? Wouldn't you do it, just to try the new system?

And how much value would this have to you if there were 40 separate forks? 400 forks?

It's not about value, but about disruption and loss of credibility. A common, non-technical user wanting to sign up would have to choose between 400 different FB pages to register, and he would then be able to login only to the one single version he registered, whereas his friends who were long-time FB users would have access to all of them! They would post messages that can potentially be seen by the new user, but his replies won't reach them...

It's just an ugly mess for the newbie and the interested but non-technical investor, who will be scared away. The name "Bitcoin" should map to one codebase, one blockchain, one coin. I believe that all those forks are not intended to help Bitcoin, but to cause havoc and disruption for motives characterized by ego and greed. It's a cancer and it's unfortunate that it exists.

It is also  a natural effect of bitcoin being Open Source software which is huge part of the reason it is so trusted in the first place. But I agree it can be used as a way to spread FUD and attack the limited coins ideal.

This is correct. That's why I said it's unfortunate that it exists, but it does, by design. Open Source is a good thing, probably the only method for achieving something as grand and revolutionary as Bitcoin, but it has its side-effects, which, combined with ego and greed, create this cancer. It remains to be seen how malignant it will be.

Honestly, some of you guys talking about forks having immediate value are just not getting it.

Let's say that the entirety of Facebook's code base was completely open source, and anyone could fork it at any time and create an FB 2.0 with a click of the mouse. So someone does it, claiming that can make it faster, better, whatever. Let's even say that any holders of the original Facebook stock would get an equal stock 'dividend' of like 10:1 for the new site.

That does not auto-magically give this new FB 2.0 any value at all. Period. There is a whole entire ecosystem that goes along with the original Facebook, including the founders, devs, employees, investors, stock holders, stock exchanges, supporting sites, corporate sites, merchants, marketers, ad agencies, etc. etc. The list goes on and on. This ecosystem was built up over a decade or more. Not too mention all the 2 billion users of "the ONE TRUE Facebook" that are not at all inclined to switch to FB 2.0. The are happy and content with continuing to use the original.

Yes, but what if all those billions of users could just login to FB 2.0 using their legacy FB credentials? Wouldn't that be tempting? Wouldn't you do it, just to try the new system?

My problem with all this is that we are not talking about a new, incompatible altcoin that is based on the original code, but about a fork which gives the legacy chain's coin holders the right (or even the unintentional possibility) to use the new chain branch.

I've just transferred 10k € to Kraken to buy some more BTC, and now we're Choo-Choo'ing...

WTF?
2899  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 07, 2017, 11:35:44 AM
I'm bullish for long term BTC, and will only support the original Core Chain, but the times are very uncertain and locking in some profits now is probably a wise move, (TBH I've already completed a sell, as I don't want to get caught in a rush for the door).
Im  still weighing these options, not decided yet:

1] to sell BTC now, in case bitcoin+b2x will go down, and after the fork both BTC+b2x will not add up to current price-so it would be cheaper to buy them after that
2]keep my BTC until I get b2x forked coins and then try to dump both as fast as possible, and wait. - the risk is it can drop down much faster before I'll be able to sell.
3] do nothing and keep both BTC and b2x indefinitely, hoping for the best. but i don't want to support any rogue fork or bitcoin takeover attempt.- therefore i would rather be out of BTC completely than hold b2x.

4] get out of all cryptos to fiat temporarily and wait for the dust to settle. (there is a chance alts will go deep down after BTC fork as well as bitcoin.) and reload later.

5] hedge with some alts (diversification) - may be risky as well. Some altcoins may pump hard though

--- aditional possible options:
*short BTC - but it would be against my "no BTC shorting" rule #1 of trading
*spend some bitcoin for hardware and stuff, before it (possibly) drops.

atm I still think we may see another ATH before fork, as people will panic buy, so they can get free b2x forked coins. ( hedging against the the takeover/death of BTC)

Call me stupid, but I'm thinking of buying some more coins now... The thing is, if I buy after the fork, then which chain branch will my coins belong to? I don't want to have this uncertainty. I believe in Bitcoin, and even it there is a big drop, I believe and hope it will pick up again. So my losses will be in the short term. It has happened to me before, and HoDLing has rewarded me. Hopefully, after all is said and done, we will be left with valuable coins.
