Hey WO guys 'n' gal(s)!

Earlier today, as I was staring at my 3D printer (very therapeutic) while it was printing a cute doll as a present for my little niece, I thought of a great idea (IMHO) for storing copies of our Bitcoin seeds as a backup.

When a 3D printer prints an object, there is a parameter called "infill", which controls how "solid" the object is going to be. The standard infill value is 20%, meaning that the object will be internally filled with 20% of material. Lower values save material, produce lighter objects, while still maintaining good strength by filling the inside of the object with various patterns, such as triangles, honey-comb shapes, etc. To have an idea of how the object looks internally, see the image below, showing varying infill degrees for 3D-printed parts:

The idea: pick an object you like (preferably not related to Bitcoin) as a decoration to your home/office, and 3D-print it with an infill of around 10% (a very coarse inner structure). Prepare a small piece of paper with the seed (or part of the seed, or whatever you want to hide/backup), roll it and slip it inside the object as it's being printed. When the printing completes, the piece of paper or whatever you have placed inside the object will be completely sealed and there is no way to tell if there's anything inside, unless you break it or X-ray it. The beauty of 3D printing is that the final object is geometrically completely closed and there are no openings or seams on its surface. You could even split the seed in different parts and scatter them inside decorations at home/office.

I think it's a cool and inconspicuous way to hide things...

WOW.
This is something really smart.
This is basically a "smuggled 3d printed opendime".
You cannot spend the private key until the external envelope is broken.

Problem.
It is a viable option only for those who have a physical access to the 3d printer, as I don't want to trust anyone slipping a private key inside my object.

That's a problem, yes, but nowadays you can have a decent 3D printer for a few hundred dollars, or you can visit a friend and do your dirty thing with his printer.

A hacker is exploiting trust in well-known brands by creating fake cryptocurrency wallet extensions for Google Chrome that trick victims into disclosing sensitive information.

Quote
Harry Denley, director of security at wallet provider MyCrypto, who identified the fake wallet extensions, said in a report Tuesday that Google has so far removed 49 extensions that purported to be well-known crypto wallets from its Chrome Web Store.

The fake extensions are basic phishing plays. Posing as legitimate wallets, they leak personal information inputted by users, such as private keys and passwords, to the hacker, who can then drain balances in a matter of seconds.

The fakes detected have so far claimed to be wallets such as Ledger, Trezor, Jaxx, Electrum, MyEtherWallet, MetaMask, Exodus, and KeepKey. Test amounts of crypto sent by Denley have not been picked up, suggesting that either the hacker has to manually empty wallets or that they are only interested in comparatively large balances.

It's all good. Those who enter private keys and other sensitive information about their Bitcoin into any Chrome extension applet that asks them to, do not deserve to own any BTC. It's the laws of nature at work: Bitcoin (and other objects of value) naturally flows towards the smartest owner.

Remember Peter Shiff?

“My #Bitcoin mystery is solved. I mistook my pin for my password. When Blockchain updated their app I got logged out. I [tried] logging back in using my pin, which was the only ‘password’ I had ever known or used. I also never had a copy of my seed phrase. Honest but costly mistake!”

Yeah, right. Fuck you, Peter. And thanks for distributing the value of your coins evenly to all of us Bitcoin HoDLers...

This is fine.

I can't really understand how it is possible for someone to get addicted to smoking cigarettes... I tried to smoke a normal, filtered cigarette (Marlboro I think it was) once in my life (in my 20s), and it was one of the most horrible experiences I've ever had in my entire life! Nearly threw up!

I simply cannot accept that someone would feel good when smoking a cigarette for the first time. The only explanation I can give to how someone can become addicted to it, is to keep smoking (without liking it) due to peer pressure, and to try to fit in with one's social circle, and eventually the nicotine effects/addiction start kicking in.

I don't mind men smoking (my father was a heavy smoker, died from it in his early 70s -- lung cancer), but I absolutely hate seeing a girl/woman smoke. I believe it just totally spoils the beauty and femininity of a girl/woman, it's against her nature, and makes her look ugly, broken, rough and dirty (in a bad way -- there are other, good kinds of "dirty"). That's just my opinion, of course...

I believe it was the tobacco companies in the USA that heavily promoted cigarettes for women as a fashion/status symbol, to maximise their profits, and they succeeded.

Strange creatures we are...

The moment the COVID-19 pandemic slows down and we're globally in control of the virus, is the time BTC will begin its mega-pump. I'm expecting 5-digit values soon, even an ATH within the year.

I can't prove this of course, it's a SOMA prediction, as are all predictions.

I'd love to see $14000... maybe we'll get there by the end of 2020. Seems possible.

Yes, it does...

Will be a sweet present after COVID-19.

I have no plans to go elsewhere.
There is no such thing as after me, sry.

See you around...

One of my relatives (41 years of age) just died in New York of COVID19.

Sorry to hear about your loss Raja!

I must admit that, at the early stages of the Coronavirus crisis, when it was seemingly a China-only issue, I was a bit reluctant to believe that it would spread all over the world as rapidly as it did. Lesson learnt: always prepare for the worst-case scenario.

Stay safe, we'll win this, but not without casualties, it seems...

Hello fellow holders,
I'm a medic in italy, i didn't even checked the price during the last month.  My total btc+fiat stash halved during the first week of this shit, but this don't even seem important like now.
This morning i woke up too early and took some benzos to sleep, this is my first relaxed sunday since a loong time ago, so i decided to have a look at the forum.

Too much memes. This is a serious shit.

Politicians and even hi-ranked medics made some foul decisions and are constantly under-thinking, the pcr test is absolutely inadequate in the real practice (over 30% false negative in a real setting), clinical diagnosis is difficult but the only way.

If some health professional need help I can put my whole month of constantly changing knowledge about how to manage the epidemic on the plate, we made many errors and now hospitals are infected and spreading the virus on healthy population. One of the main problem here is that in the current situation the power of the clinicians about how to manage their activity is very limited, stupid directives are raining on us and disrespect them is difficult., but sometimes due.

If someone have for some reason some ffp2/3 masks or some class III suits or any kind of protection (not money) and is willing to donate please contact me, I will immediately inject the material in the italian health system bypassing beaurocracy.

I can produce any kind of proof.

I'm not reading the forum, so if anyone need help or can help please PM.

Sorry for the OT, but I don't use any social media and my social interaction is very limited for obvious reasons, so I used this forum for my
Outburst.

Keep hodling

Good work! Well done. It's in times like these that we must all act together as a team to fight the threat.

At work we are using all of our resources to help our hospitals. My laboratory has a 3D printer and I've been printing this protective face shield 24/7 for about a week now. Took the printer home to be able to keep printing non-stop.

3D-Printed Face Shields For Medics & Professionals

We have coordinated with several companies in the private sector and organized huge 3D printer farms (around 1500 3D printers), and are printing the above shield. Perhaps you can also do something similar in your country. Check it out.

Keep up the good work, stay safe, and keep HoDLing!

Give that fucking drunk another.    Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy #nohomo

I agree with everything that you say, except that I really doubt that we are going to get to perma-6-digits until perhaps after the 2024 halvening.

Call me a fud dud.. but we could reasonably have bottom testings, after peaking in 6-digits in the $30k to $60k range.. any of those kinds of corrections, even though extreme, would be within reasonable expectations given bitcoin's already known history and the passion that bearwhales have historically shown to be ready, willing and able to push BTC prices down for as low and as long as they are able to accomplish..

Edit:

No, thanks, not another one! I don't get drunk very often, I guess yesterday was one of those nights... And it seems the effect is still present, seeing that I can't even post properly... (!)

My rainbow post is super-bullish, I know... I may be off by a few years, but I do believe it will happen. McAfee may have missed one digit in his prediction, he can keep his dick, it wouldn't taste so good anyway. (#nohomo). Wait, no, he didn't miss one digit, he just skipped a few years.

Onwards & upwards!

What was the price at this sort of time before the halving in 2016, I can’t remember?

Around $400-$500

No, wait, around $600-$700 one month before the halving (july)

...and it doubled in New Year 2017,   [ Smiley ]

...and it went 5x mid-2017,   [ Cheesy ]

...and it went 40x (ATH) end-2017,   [ Shocked ]

...and is now 10x of what it was pre-2016-halving. Nice and healthy.   [ Cool ]

Back-To-The-FutureTM translation:

Pre-halving 2020 (now):   $6,000   [ Smiley ]   Doing OK.

New Year 2021:   $12,000   [ Wink ]   Getting there...

Mid-2021:   $30,000 (ATH)   [ Kiss ]   Carolina looking sexy! You dirty thing!

End-2021:   $240,000   $100,000 (ATH),   [ Cool ]   Nice and steady.   <--- @mindrust   BE THERE !!!

2022 onwards: Perma-6-digits, lots of debauchery, some will die of too much hookers 'n' blow, good for us, BTC more scarce!

Sorry for the peacock/rainbow post (#nohomo)... Tried to be creative with the BB-Code forum thingy... Couldn't believe how it came out. It's DOS ANSI shit all over again!

...and i'm drunk too...fuck covid-19...

Hey WOs!

Too many pages, too little time... In lurking mode lately.

At work they have asked me to use the 3D printer in my R&D lab to print protection equipment for COVID-19. Having mixed feelings about this. Not quite sure how practical it will be, or whether it's just a "we helped eliminate COVID-19" PR stunt.

Have any of you done any similar thing using a 3D printer? Any suggestions? I've heard good things about this (in combination with a normal mask):

Come back to it in 2-3 years from now and enjoy the near-order-of-magnitude profits.

I agree with your sentiment, but any investment should be a minimum of 8-10 years holding, if not much longer.

Thinking 2-3 years outlook will cut it is the problem with most people's mindset about investing. Hell, a bear market in anything could easily last 3-4 years.

Yeah, agreed, perhaps at least one Halving period. Fact is that I have never ever been at a loss since I bought my first Bitcoin in 2015. Never ever. Always in profits, sometimes really huge, others not so huge, but far greater than any other traditional investment could have given me.

[...]

Waiting for a double price from here is gambling. I am fucking done with gambling.

[...]

When it comes to bitcoin, I can't be sure about anything.

[...]

As much as I respect you for your openness to share the particulars of your Bitcoin activity and recent selling of your coins, I must say that I disagree 100% with your two statements above.

Bitcoin is NOT gambling. And you CAN be almost certain about many things about it. Reading your recent comments, I think you are approaching it in the wrong way...

Many WOs will strongly disagree with me, but my suggestion to you is to GO ALL-IN NOW, buy all that you can afford NOW and WAIT IT OUT. Stop watching the price (difficult, I know). Come back to it in 2-3 years from now and enjoy the near-order-of-magnitude profits.

$50 a week is not going to cut it I'm afraid.

There. I said it.

Edit: PS: If I had followed my own advice above, and had gone all-in when I first entered the Bitcoin space in 2015, I would now be FUCK YOU FILTHY RICH. It's painful to even think about it. Don't allow yourself to feel that pain in 2-3 years' time.
