So one of the gekko i got here is a bastard child.

Like it can be sticked in laptop and all working
then i take it out and in again and then no devices found.

I goto device manager uninstall and delete driver
doing zadig again but it still not finding it.
It like random sometimes it finds.

I try all ports on laptop and it already worked fine before?!
What else to try?

Have you tried starting cgminer or bfgminer and then plugging it in?

EDIT: Have you got just the 1 stick or more but just 1 is not working?

yeah tried everything.

so what i did now was

go in device manager where i normally uninstall and delete it.

instead i clicked REVERT back driver
then after that did zadig
then started cg

now it found it
let just see for how long

That's strange, I have no idea why it would do that.

Fingers crossed it keeps working for you Smiley.

Another strange thing

2 units work fine in laptop.

Then i got a USB hub to run more devices

ORICO 10-Port USB 2.0 Hub with UK Plug 36W AC Power Adapter & USB2.0 Data Cable for Windows and Mac PC

But no matter what i do if i connect hub to laptop or to raspberry pi minera  it will never work with more than 2x Gekko.

If I put in 3 sticks in usb hub it just keeps around 22-24 maybe raise to 26 that it

if i plug in 4 same nothing just stays on 22-24

and i cant think it is because not enough power in the HUB it has its own power supply.

There is nothing else connected not even fan.
But I never can get it to load more than 2.

I wanted like 4-5 in the HUB.
Is the hub bad?
It cost a lot on Amazon and should be powerful.

I think it will depend on how much power your sticks are using. Have you tried running them at lower frequency (like 150MHz or less) to see if you can run more than 2?

I have a 60w Orico hub and it will run 4 @ 300Mhz, to run more than 4 I have to reduce frequency. I also have 2 Anker 60w hubs and they will run the same (4 @ 300MHz). If I want to run more I have to drop the frequency again.

They will both run 6 sticks @ 225/250MHz.

They are only 225 MHz standard.

Do you have link for those 2x hubs on amazon?
Which one of those do you like best?

Curious if anyone thinks these Y-cables may be worth the extra money for use with these sticks?

I think 150MHz is standard, 225 is overclocked Smiley.

Amazon links for the hubs I have:

Orico: http://www.amazon.co.uk/ORICO-Charging-Adapter-Support-Android/dp/B00U1FZAF4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1450039256&sr=8-2&keywords=orico+60w+hub

Anker: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker%C2%AE-PowerIQ-Charging-Samsung-Motorola/dp/B00VE4UJD4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450039298&sr=8-1&keywords=anker+60w+hub

I prefer the Anker because the sticks will stand upright, it will take 7 sticks side by side using all 7 ports but you have 3 extra power usb ports at the end so I use 1 for an umbrella fan: http://www.amazon.co.uk/ARCTIC-Breeze-Mobile-Everywhere-Notebooks/dp/B003XN24GY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1450039452&sr=8-2&keywords=arctic+fan

I only have 6 sticks though so to use all 6 in the hub I cant go above 250MHz because with the fan as well I get lots of hardware errors and cgminer will crash.

Found a picture of Anker when I just had 2 sticks:

I had the same setup as you, but with a 10port Teknek. With the same small fan. Then i decided duct tape + 24/7 PC = Free air flow from PC intake;

I run mine at 225mhz as well, 12.4GH/s average. The temp is at 45C, not too shabby.

Thats a good idea and yes 12.4GH/s is pretty good Smiley.

I can run 4 @ 300Mhz (16GH/s each) with the Arctic fan on the Anker hub and it only has a few HW errors in 24 hours.

It will run 6 @ 225/250MHz and be just as stable. Any higher and get too many HW errors and cgminer crashes.

As you can see from the following pictures, 4 sticks is nice with space in between each stick, 6 is a bit tight but could squeeze in another Grin.

4 sticks @ 300MHz (16GH each):

6 sticks @225/250MHz (12/13GH each):

These sticks really are just for a bit of fun, especially with -ck's dedicated Compac Pool organised by philipma1957: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1283990.0 Smiley.

Best thing is they are very well made and super stable / reliable so well done sidehack Smiley.

I have the exact same hub-10 port (7+3) Anker for my 2nd batch sticks that are in the mail (four of them).
Did you adjust mv by potentiometer or just setup 300mhz without mv adjustment?
Thanks

Sorry for delay just been trying to take clear pictures which is easier said than done Cheesy.

My sticks are all set with the pot like this:

If I remember correctly @ 300MHz (16GH) they are using 4.9v / 1.4A.

Good choice with the hub by the way, I dont think there are any better branded models for the price Smiley.

thanks-great pictures.
My coming four will be running off of a 10 slot 60W Anker-looking forward to this due to vertical configuration.
My first five are running off 7 slot Superpag (70W, 14A)-also quite good, but sticks are in horizontal position, so you need more space.

once i get newcoming sticks, i will probably dedicate a stick (maybe from the first batch) to do crazy things with it (will try to push one as hard as i can)-as my experience shows that these sticks are super sweet, but also super constant as well-you set them up and basically don't have to look at them for weeks.
To do experiments, I've got a great Y cable capable of 3A. My semester is over, so i will have more free time on my hands now.

You're welcome, its just past midnight here now so relying on artificial light which isn't the best.

Sounds good, these can certainly be modified nicely and are worth playing around with especially if you have the time Smiley.

I found my USB meter and was pretty much bang on what they use with the pot in position in pictures and @ 300MHz:

EDIT: Using this website: http://www.rapidtables.com/calc/electric/watt-volt-amp-calculator.htm

And entering 4.9 volts + 1.4 amps these sticks are using 6.86 watts for 16GH. Not bad at all, 0.42 J/GH if my brain is working correctly. Which is somewhere between the S5 (0.51) and S7 (0.25) Smiley.

Plus, if you didn't already know one of my sticks had a 1B share, I think this brag is getting boring now Grin:

I try all device manager uninstall driver
then zadig

roll back driver
then zadig

but still he keep saying
no devices detected

anything else can do it?
It must be windows doing something strange.

Oh no... I'm not sure buddy to be honest sorry Sad.

I've got a similar problem with one of my pc's. A USB port on the front was working okay then this morning went to have a change around and nothing. Port wont work to operate the hub at all and I dont know why. Its on Win 7 64 when Win 7 32 pc has worked fine from day 1 with all ports, not sure if its 64 bit thats the problem?

i try everything i go in registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SYSTEM, then CurrentControlSet, then Enum
psexec -i -d -s c:\windows\regedit.exe

find device in there and DELETE it and reinstall all

I even compare it to another device that works and they have same driver same setup all look same other one works.

So not sure if this stick defect
There is green light when i plug it in.

I also try on a linux to see if it is damn windows cause it but same
no devices detected
