Its looking good for the US Open to go ahead as planned however the thing is that the cases are still growing by the day which is a concern but it seems that all the sports leagues around the world want to start playing again no matter what so we could see some tennis played soon but under tough new rules. Lets just hope that everything works out because the daily cases are a lot worse now then a few weeks ago, I know that its mainly South America however as we know this can spread fast.

I can promote your project on X to my 100k+ followers for a reasonable price. Just DM me for prices.

It is happening everywhere, you have to live with it now untill there is a cure. Sporting events are a source of income not only for the government but for the players too. They cannot sit down for another two or three years waiting for a vaccine. Most of the players are eager to play and the government are eager to conduct these events with strict rule.

Fans like us can sit down on our couch and enjoy the live matches at our comfort. This will also reopen sports betting which is delightful for us.

She's still is a GOAT in my opinion, she outlived here contemporaries, Hingis, Clijsters, Davenport, Henin. Some name that I can think of right now.  Smiley

Yes, as of now, she probably is. But I wrote "GOAT forever" and if she was as fit as the players I mentioned, I think no one would ever come close to what she would have achieved. Just like if Steffi Graf had a backhand Grin

But these GOAT discussions are always a bit meh, because the game changes so fast. Put any of the Top10 WTA from 2020 in the Steffi Graf era and they would win every tournament basically imo. These players now have way better equipment, the game is faster, the players are insanely fit, spend hours in the gym, look after their diet etc. Then again put Steffi Graf in Margaret Court era and she herself would win everything there.

Steffi Graf owes many of her titles and victories in tennis to one tragic event, the attack of a sick person on Monica Seles at the 1993 Hamburg tournament.
By that point Monica Seles was much better than Steffi Graf and dominated women’s tennis like Serena Williams today.
If it weren't for that tragedy, no one would be talking about Stefa Graf today, but about Monica Seles.

It was a passing of the torch that time, from Monica Seles to Steffi Graf. And you are right, Monica is already dominating that time, its just unfortunate that this stabbing had happened, pushing her back and the true potential to stay at the top of the game.

I agree that we can't compare era's, it has been the case in many sports. Just like in tennis, when the sisters come into the scene, everything has change, Hingis was still the best women's player out there, until Serena took over.

Great speech by a young tennis player: ''I want change''
https://twitter.com/emsulliv/status/1268312204329222144
Young tennis star Coco Gauff made a notable public appearance and gave her review of the unfortunate murder of George Floyd.
She showed her character both on and off the tennis court.
Well done girl, you could have kept your mouth shut but you chose to use your fame to push for the real thing.

Yes I know this and the strange thing is that what is happening right now is exactly what Event 201 has predicted as the world shuts down for 6 months and then reopens for the cases to just continue to get worse which is what we are seeing. I know the world can't shut down forever and as we know money rules the world so Governments really have no choice but to open up and then also means sports as that is one big revenue stream for Governments and also for the gambling industry where most of the Governments around the world earn a lot of revenue from. Like everyone here, we just want to see some tennis played soon.

I hope other tennis players will do the same.
They are not separate from society and normal life and should lead by example.
Hope to see Serena and Venus Williams in the similar action soon.

If there will be a player that can lead by example, it should be Serena Williams for tennis. There are a lot of NBA personalities as well who have spoken against this unfortunate event and there are a lot more in different sports. Here is a video from Frances Tiafoe,

https://twitter.com/FTiafoe/status/126726440439301325.

And yes I agree, this is bigger than tennis.

Exhibition match on the way in Spain,

Quote
The Region of Valencia Tennis Challenge, a red-clay-court exhibition, features world No. 12 Roberto Bautista Agut, No. 25 Pablo Carreno Busta, No. 26 Alex de Minaur and No. 53 Pablo Andujar. Similar to other exhibition events, such as the UTR Pro Match Series in Florida, the tournament has no live spectators and is following strict social distancing guidelines.

https://www.tennis.com/pro-game/2020/06/day-1-region-valencia-tennis-challenge-de-minaur-bautista-agut-win-spain-exhibition/89083/

The finals is between two of my fav tennis today, de Minaur vs Bautista Agut. But the finals match was cancelled due to rain.

No fans, but good to see tennis moving as well in this new norm. It should have been the finals in Roland Garros this week if not for the pandemic.

According to this news, Federer has canceled the rest of the tennis season and will not play again this year https://www.index.hr/sport/clanak/federer-otkazao-ostatak-sezone/2189249.aspx
Federer underwent surgery in February for chronic problems with his right knee, but things got complicated and he had to go for surgery again, and because of that he misses the rest of the tennis season this year.
Is this perhaps the final farewell of a tennis legend?
EDIT: I just found official news confirmation on Federer’s Twitter profilehttps://twitter.com/rogerfederer/status/1270605149526986752/photo/1

~ Is this perhaps the final farewell of a tennis legend?
I like that you said "final" farewell because I can no longer count how many times fans have speculated about his retirement. I also don't recall him saying having a final season. Resting up worked well for him the last time, it could work again. Who knows if we get to see him winning one or two more titles when he returns and the retirement talks will be dismissed again.

Nothing is impossible but now age factor is also going against him as he is already 40 and this problem is still not giving him any good news hopefully we will watch this legend again but its very hard for him as came and win any title hopefully we will able to have some good tennis next year from Federer.

age factor is there for him, but for Nadal and Novak as well, they are both old ones for tennis, where one can win a tournament with 18 years, they are both above 33 years, so not much from them in the future
but there is a factor that tennis does not have new stars in last decade, there was not any player that could win tournaments in a series, and just a few that one one or two slams in last decade (Cilic (over30), Wawrinka (over30), Del Porto (over30), Murray (over30)), do not remember that someone else won any gran slam in last decade

Well he isn't going to miss much as we still don't know if and when a another grand slam will be played this year. I think he will be back even though his age is now starting to be a big factor in his career but he and Nadal seem to keep going and nothing seems to stop them so I think he will be back for one last time to say farewell which I'm thinking will be next year. The farewell tour for Federer.

I think he will be back even though his age is now starting to be a big factor in his career but he and Nadal seem to keep going and nothing seems to stop them so I think he will be back for one last time to say farewell which I'm thinking will be next year. The farewell tour for Federer.

Good timing though. But prior to this announcement, I thought that he had recover already because he has posted some video swinging already. But I guess it worsens when there's no tournament because of the pandemic. Still, he has a lot of time to heal without any pressure and continue tennis next year.

Definitely, if everything fall into pieces (injury heal and recovery, pandemic is over), we might see Federer's farewell tour. Unless he got back his second win and win Grand Slams, then we might see some extension beyond 2021.

~ Is this perhaps the final farewell of a tennis legend?
I like that you said "final" farewell because I can no longer count how many times fans have speculated about his retirement. I also don't recall him saying having a final season. Resting up worked well for him the last time, it could work again. Who knows if we get to see him winning one or two more titles when he returns and the retirement talks will be dismissed again.

Federer has gone into this sort of 'sabbatical' since 2017, so perhaps everyone thought that he is going retire, but he is not. He is just resting and selecting tournaments he wanted to join and has higher chance of winning. So I don't see him retiring anytime soon, he will continue after this pandemic and when that knee injury heal. Of course, he is old, but Father Time will caught up on him, but for me he can still play good tennis in the next 2-3 years.

@btc_angela Federer is definitely not retiring in 2020, as he had clearly hinted that we will see him participate in next year’s Australian Open tournament. However beyond 2021 it looks very difficult for him to carry on as he’s suffered multiple injuries over the year’s, and his recent setback shows that he may not even play the entire season in 2021, hence we all should be prepared to see him retire by mid 2021.

I read the same thing however things ain't getting any better in the US so the Government has a big decision to make when it comes to opening up sports again. Also are the tennis players willing to take the risk entering a country where the cases are averaging 20k+ daily and with these protests going on it could get worse.

I agree that Djokovic and Nadal will continue to dominate however we are seeing signs that some of the young talent are starting to get better against these top players but its just grand slams where they lose their nerve against Djokovic and Nadal.

I can promote your project on X to my 100k+ followers for a reasonable price. Just DM me for prices.

I don't know if you guys have heard of Patrick Mouratoglou "Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS)". It's a very different format from the tennis we have seen for many years, so controversial that it might change the whole tennis game.

https://twitter.com/UTShowdown

Lots of big names already sign to test it this experiment such as Stefanos Tsitsipas, Dominic Thiem, and David Goffin.

Tell me guys what you think about this one.
