The main problem is that western union is very expensive and old fashioned.
Bitcoin is much cheaper and faster. It's innovation makes it the winner.
Yes Western Union becomes old method and it has many limitations like very high fees. Bitcoin are always better than Western Union because there are very less fees and it is also faster than Western Union. Bitcoin is modern currency and in very short period of time I think it already beats Western Union.

The vast majority of people can't even use Netflix properly and many here expect to adopt Bitcoin when they actually need fiat money to pay for bills and food. What they need is cash in a window, Western Union provides that and it's not that expensive (I think it's 5$ for $100-200 for example). Calculate that using Bitcoin and you will see how much money you lose providing the same service, setting up an office, exchange fiat twice, etc.
Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

of course its far better than western union, bitcoins are the best and nothing can replace it, no other payment methods
Western Union is taking very high amount for a single transaction of any local money from one country to another countries, We can say its fast but there is process people need to be present to collect the money or go there in western money union office to send the money. but here in bitcoins every is done online , less charges, fast process. and get better value of it.

Are we still debating this? Again there's no question here because they are complete different services. Go ahead and provide the same service Western Union provides but with Bitcoin (fiat/cash in a window worldwide) with less fees and you will become a millionaire. Bitcoin is not "cheaper" because it doesn't charge fees, it's actually more expensive if you include price volatility and fiat conversion/exchange. You can't buy groceries with Bitcoin.

This is slowly changing. Compare 2 years ago to today. Now think what it will be like 2 years in the future. Dont be short sighted

Bitcoin is fading into oblivion if you ask me right now, I don't think it will be relevant in a couple more years the way things are going, its image is too tainted. Hopefully it can survive or find a way to create actual demand for its product. Replacing Western Union would be ideal, but it doesn't work no matter how much you people write in this thread. It isn't profitable, far from it, if it was close to being profitable Western Union would be out of business already.

I do not think there is need to ask this questions, obviously YES. I choose bitcoin because commissions are lower and transaction don't require registration of any document

Yes of course the bitcoin is better, plus western union has less more security.
The bitcoin is the future and the western union is an old payment method.

Yeah but the people have more faith in WU as they are using it since long time, and at other end, many people are not aware about bitcoins, and that is the reason bitcoin is not that popular as WU is, but once people are aware about bitcoins they will surely switch to bitcoins.

Way more expensive that BTC in transacting money, currently in my country there restrictions on using Bank transfers and wire transactions and my country's people are using Western Union on world-wide transactions and it's not easy and very expensive, BTC is much better IMO.

I use western union to accept payments from foreign currencies but it does not allow me to send payments through WU and hence bitcoins are the best way for me to send payment abroad but most users don't accept bitcoin payments. It needs more time to conclude as bitcoin is best, for me...

I agree with you in this point, Bitcoin can not replace WU now because of its less number of users and the most of the world did not use it yet.
When someone receives a payment through WU in my country, he can withdraw it with dollars, which is not possible NOW to sell bitcoin for dollars here, I can only exchange it to my local currency

If its just small amounts, find someone you know who would take Bitcoin transferred to you and they give you dollars. Give them something for their trouble. You get cheaper transaction, the currency you want, pay less fees at either end, no currency conversions.

Can we really trust those numbers? My dealings with western union always brought me to a shady cheque cashing environment that was raping average joe of his pay cheque,so its a greasy company in many aspects. Just last year they sent me a letter telling me I had a transfer that the other end did not pick up and I could claim it. Felt fishy since the payment was going to a now defunct sports book and I wrote it off, rather then deal with them.
Talking to them on the phone sometimes when my transfers would be held up was always nerve racking. Like they knew where the money was going but wanted me to say it,so they could seize it.

Screw Western Union and that kid behind the glass asking for id and taking a sneaky webcam photo, like I did not notice!

Well each one has their advantages, knowing that bitcoin hasnt yet a market to be able to cashout the liquidity soo, even the volume of bitcoin being above the western union, they can keep doing their service, but would be good for all if they connected, and wu start to give an exchange service related to bitcoin, this would be a huge step.

Indeed, it may have some advantages, in connection with the transaction, it is indeed much cheaper.
But not many people use it, and that is its disadvantage.
namely, not everyone knows it.
