If you can buy/trade with something, it is a real currency, as long as it is some minimal amount of universal acceptance.

so the body of a girl is a currency? there must be a difference between the two right...

plenty of other examples out there, what it is not a real currency then?

As long as you can withdraw it to the real cash money.
Then i consider it as a real money, but basically it is virtual.
As long as bitcoin belongs only to someone it is real.

Bitcoin is virtual, it is stored digitally. However, it is also real.

I can use bitcoin to buy goods. I have bought computer components, motherboards. I have used it to pay my phone bill.

So bitcoin is useful. It is real.

Yes, it is my online money. I will NOT use any currency other than bitcoin when I surfing the web (including USD/EUR/credit card (as I don't have one as of now).
However in my daily life, I still use fiat, as local shops don't accept bitcoin and I don't see one accepting it either Sad

Nice,   That is pretty much the way I define currency as well.  If you can buy other currency with it, or trade if you will, then it should be considered a currency as long as you can use it to trade and purchase goods with it.

Technically, PayPal funds aren't physical things either, but I'm pretty sure the general consensus is that PayPal funds are real money. Sure, you can cash it out to your bank or credit card with a click of a button, but you can do that with bitcoins as well (except you have to do it P2P or through a different auto-transfer website).

Bitcoin is virtual or illusion online money.
It can't be touched so it is not a real money.
Bitcoin is just number which is visualized on our monitors, but yeah it is real money because we can buy things.
It's 'machine to machine' transactions but it makes sense to us, same like the e-banking money.

You may be right with respect to the physical character of bitcoin. But with respect to real usage and applications, we can find bitcoin more friendly and can be used any sectors. In my experience I find bitcoin as a real money.

I'm still hoping that I can have more places to spend my coins and not just limited to a coffee shop. :/ I can now pay bills with my bitcoins thanks to a local service provider. It seems to be the better way of paying bills as you will get a nice rebate if you paid with bitcoins.

Bitcoin is virtual money as all know and it is still virtual for me because i don't have owned any bitcoin atm card to withdraw them into my local currency till now. I am using them to topup my mobile and buying some hosting and domain.

As you have stated, scam and ponzi schemes are also with dollar so we shouldn't blame bitcoin due to its anonymous character. People with fake identity had run away with the peoples dollars or real money also in the past. And some of them are still out there getting ready to run away. PTC can be one of the example of such ponzis.

as you said is correct, but when ever if you can use the bitcoin for any purchase or any use then i think it becomes real money, whether we own atm card or withdrawing that is second part, but you can recharge you mobile phone then it is real money, because if it was not real then how would you be doing recharges.

Even bitcoin is virtul in the reality but we can use it same like real money. I could not find any difference between bitcoin and my real money while using online. But still people finding bitcoin is a ritual money. I need to accept that bitcoin is a commodity but it can be used as the real money with no difference.

I have to be honest.  Bitcoin isn't even close to what "real" money means to me.  Bitcoin is so much more than money....it's a movement....it's a community....`it's an inspiring innovation that has the potential to equal out the shortcomings "real" money has provided us.

Pointing out my opinion above, I do spend my bitcoin differently than I spend my USD.  My USD pays for my houses and cars and taxes and bills and pizzas and beers.  But, I splash my bitcoin into worthy projects that might make a difference in other's lives, or invest in ideas that have the potential to generate innovative solutions to contemporary problems.  So, I do invest my bitcoin into some risky projects because I believe that Bitcoin has the unique ability to promote change in areas not possible with government regulated currency.

When you say more than money i would add that bitcoin is a platform.
It works totally different from the 'real money' which is controlled by institutions.
Personally since bitcoin is easy to be converted to fiat i still consider is as a good real money.

Personally I consider bitcoin as gold but kind of radioactive one (instable)

Since i can buy with it, convert it to usd and other currency, gamble? with it then yea we can consider it as a realistic virtual money.

Yes, bitcoin is like real money to me because
(1) It's always present in my wallet like my real cash.

(2) It can be used for transactions like I do with real cash

(3) It is as convenient and simple as cash.
