It is real to me  Grin I have been using it for some time now. Creating some real cash using this kind of currency. Thanks to bitcoin and for the one who introduced me to this kind of money.

Yeah it has become a real money for me over a period of time. I have been using bitcoins to convert it to fiat currency, I can recharge my mobile phone using bitcoins and I can also make online transfers which is very convinient, cheap and time saving, So basically bitcoins is taking care of my all daily stuff so I believe it is a real money for me.

Yeah same here paying to recharge mobile phone. It can also pay bills and be transfered to ve a real money with just a code and a password. So it is a real money literally. I find  it also more faster than other transfering money companies.

How can people even say Bitcoin is not real money? Money is defined as a medium of exchange in coins or banknotes.  Since Bitcoin follows this protocol it is by definition real money.  There are no questions about it.

But still it created a 10 page thread with a lot of stories on how they spend it like real money. Aint that awesome.

To me bitcoin is not real money. And what I mean by that is that while it can be used as such, I never and of doing it. I see it more as investment tool, that has properties of both a stock and a currency. I don't like spending bitcoin!

For me it is real money, but everyone wants to change it to USD or EUR or whatever if they want to use it most of the time so, it is like a transition coin..

There is nothing wrong considering bitcoin as a real money. Why not? you can buy shoe, dress, food etc using bitcoin. It is online money for me. You can use it in buying anything like physical money thats why i consider it.

Reminds me of precious metals, yet much more advanced, Gold 2.0 as some call it.

Gold is seen to have value in the same way that Bitcoin is to my understanding.

...

Bitcoin is real enough for me to be considered "money".  Money is a slippery concept though, it typically has these attributes:

1)  Unit of Account (how much things are worth in the currency being used)
2)  Means of Exchange (trade money for cattle)
3)  Store of Value (where most currencies actually fail over a longer term).

I do not mean to quibble.  BTC is real enough for me because I can buy gold with it.

But should our Asian bearing suppliers ever accept BTC as payment, whoa, then BTC really would rock for us (our small company).

For most of the people it is as real as a foreign currency: The only thing you can do with a foreign currency is to exchange it to your domestic currency and spend. However, each foreign currency have one specific country that you can spend without conversion, for bitcoin this country does not exist physically on the earth, but its inhabitants are living everywhere in the world, so it is a currency that belongs to an invisible country

Sure it is. I can buy stuff with Bitcoin, change it for any other currency (even easier than some of real currencies) or invest it. It is more than currency, i can travel around globe using it and avoid to have full pocket of different banknotes and coins.

It is only real money to me if I can purchase food or a home with it, which I can if a home seller or food market will accept Bitcoin.

When I started it was just kind of novelty,  now that I've learnt more and used it, it's a real currency to me.  I'm not quite ready to get paid in Bitcoin yet but once mass adoption is achieved then no problem.

It's more than real money to me. I use it as a currency, so yes, I see it as money. When it comes to online payments, I solely use Bitcoin. No more fiat currencies. I only wish there were plenty of places in real life where I could also spend it that way.

It's real money but I think it's "weird" to think about that you can download a wallet (or make one online) find a faucet and thats it. Now you have 'real money'.
