Fiat and bitcoin has a lot of differences. Bitcoin has a long way to go before being widelly accepted. Bitcoin still lack the merchants wherein we can spend our lovely btc. Lastly, bitcoin is the lesser of two evils, if you know what I mean. Roll Eyes

At the moment, I think bitcoin is still not a real money to me. It is more like potential real (future) money. This in mainly because of its limited use and not many around me accept it as a money.

I considering Bitcoin to be as "real" as currency like USD or GPB is, though ironic considering Bitcoin doesn't physically "exist", per se. As Satoshi refers to it as a "digital currency", it leaves little room to speculate whether it is or not because it was initially designed to be one. (Successful at that, but I digress).

I think that it's hard for people to conceive bitcoin as actual money because it's not something they can touch, hold, make it rain on hookers or snort coke with... but really though...

It's hard for people to conceive of a new currency to them just looks like numbers that crudely relates it to fiat (USD, EUR, etc.)... they simply don't understand the hashing power and energy that needs to be used to make this system work and don't see the value in it to where the newbie would want to invest a lot of money, but yet, just want to find ways in earning free coins by sucking the faucets teets.  I know what some people on here would think though regarding my post, "Oh sure, you say that, but you are sucking the teet of the signature campaign as well, hypocrite".  Yes, I do like earning a passive income while I browse on here just like everyone else, but I understand that to earn a small income for doing something like posting on a forum, you would need to write some slightly intelligible posts on here.  The other people that just join just assume that there would be some magical way to randomly get bitcoins, or think that they can just turn on some old computer that has been sitting in their room and generate magical internet money with it.

It needs to be known by everyone who signs up to bitcointalk, or just anybody in general who decides to delve in the world of cryptocurrencies, that there are legit investments to be made if one were to mine bitcoins, which in itself makes it valuable since it clearly works to transfer any denominations anywhere in the world with an internet connection.

In my opinion, Bitcoin is a 'real money' that is secured by cryptography and can be used as a method of payment, just like PayPal. It is verifiable and transparent which would ensure that the coins are existent, just like how fiat have security features on them.

Bitcoin is best form of money in history, you may even say it's the ONLY form of money. Fiat is fraud, gold is not easy divisible for payments.

propably not true for those that are only here to dump for fiat, excluding those among them that are forced because they cannot use it directly for whatever reason

those that will embrace bitcoin at 100%, are definitely here because they see it as a real money

I think you get the same mindset with people who started using credit cards, when fiat was still popular. You do not have a physical connection with your cash and it makes it

easier for you to spend it on things you would not normally buy, if you had a wad of cash in your hand. If you had to count out the cash and you see the impact it has on your

purse, you would have considered twice before buying or paying for that service. The Gambling sector has done the same thing, when they removed the coin operated slot

machines and replaced it with pre-loaded cards.  Roll Eyes

Not sure if I understand you 100% but it seems you are referring to the 'value' aspect i.e. some people treating bitcoin as if it's not real money.

Correct.

Referring to above, "being value" or "have value" is something that have to do with the meaning everyone have for the "value". There are to many kinds of value. For example the value of market of something - in other words the price in which that something find people to be sold. It is the value of production of something - in other words its cost (the amount of the money spent to create that something) and so on with other kinds of values.

As for me, the most acceptable and significant value in terms of most "near the true value" of something is the value of the market. In this point of view for sure bitcoin has a great value. I would tell enormous. Even in these moments the price of bitcoin related to us dollar is considered low from the bitcoiners, having as price of it the amount of about 250 us dollar and having in mind that bitcoin is "real money" (have market value and is accepted as the normal money to have any kind of goods from to many merchants - even big ones like Microsoft and Dell or Tigerdirect etc, etc) this price is very high. So we have one currency 1 unity of its worth 250 us dollar. If we see the change of us dollar with the other currencies can be understand very easy the power of bitcoin in the world of currencies.

I don't want to go further with the future hypothetical and theoretical possible value of bitcoin which have true basis to be verified (but with other conditions to be fulfilled). For me is enough even the above to tell that bitcoin is a powerful valuable real money (in the meaning wanted to know and discussed by the OP). To not forget that are taken in analyze only facts. No one other hypothetical thing.
