Yes to me its same as real money. Now a days there are many services that can used using bitcoins, also the amount of time and real cash money people are investing in bitcoins is too much. so yeah its similar to real money.

That is cool. Right, there are lot of different stores now that accepts bitcoin and using it as a real money could be the greatest way to circulate bitcoin and let it more be known through anything online.
Indeed. There is already a lot of online and offline stores that accept Bitcoin as payment method.

Now over many sectors they have started accepting bitcoin.
This does't mean bitcoin is real money. We should understand that bitcoin is growing or the users are getting increased.

For me, Bitcoin is more like an investment, rather than a form of money. Unlike fiat currency, I can't purchase most of the household items with Bitcoin. Right now, I can use Bitcoin only for gambling, and for minor purchases. So as a form of currency, it is not performing that well. But it has given me decent returns in the past 3-4 years. So, as an investment asset, it is doing OK.

Well i see and understand your point ,bitcoin still have several walls to cross, sure bitcoin todays is used mostly at internet and there isnt yet a company to buy and sell stuffs, openbazar project should bring new vision into this ,and maybe bitcoin can become more interesting to others as the prices should drop against ebay and others companies.

I see bitcoin as any other currency that I use on a daily basis

I like to have bitcoin as an alternative so yes bitcoin is just as real to me.
some people do think bitcoin is the best alternative to earn extra money, but on the other hand they also believe bitcoin is real money, as I am today

For me bitcoin is still an investment not a money. I save bitcoins for my future use. Until I get a good price for my bitcoins, I will treat it as investments.

If you can spend your Bitcoin to buy both physical goods and virtual goods, then it is real money for me. Smiley

Lower transaction fees as compared to fiat..
Secured too much other than PayPal or WU which can be hacked..

But bitcoin has no shape or form, if bitcoin has it for sure I will be very supportive and liked it to be used for the direct exchange tools without using machines

According to Wikipedia, "Money is any item or verifiable record that is generally accepted as payment for goods and services and repayment of debts in a particular country or socio-economic context, or is easily converted to such a form."

So I don't know what you mean by "real money." But since you can use Bitcoins to perform payments for goods and services and repayment of debts, I would consider it "real money."

But the purpose of this thread is to share the present status of bitcoin ecosystem in your county/city which allows you to use bitcoin as real money or not.

Secondly some bitcoiners, view bitcoins as investment and saving bitcoins even they are having many opportunities to use bitcoin as real money.

Yes, bitcoin can be a real money or an investment based on your view, amount of holding bitcoins and bitcoin payment adoption in your city.

But I see bitcoin as real money and investment at the same time. I use bitcoins for my shopping and I do save some bitcoins in cold storage. I do buy bitcoins every month as investment.

This is the real situation of many bitcoiners here.
No one can save all the bitcoins he gets. So, spending some of them as real money time to time is unavoidable.

Using as real money is good for bitcoin ecosystem to grow further.
Saving as investment is good for you to get good returns on value appreciations.

You can't use another country's currency to pay in your local region either. That doesn't make it not a real currency. It will take time for Bitcoin to spread, what with all the volatility and high learning curve.

you can use it online, come on, anyone on this planet, minus third world have access to internet, there is really no excuse anymore to use bitcoin

i think people are more scared to lose their money when they buy bitcoin, that's the real reason, they still see it as an asset for investment, when bitcoin is more of a young currency

Not too young, already used many years but still lower 10 years. Of course when people heard about it they hesitate to use. Furthermore, the price not stable and always fluctuated
