I don't see difference between dollars and bitcoins, when we talk about using bitcoin as money..
When we talking about storing value, bitcoin have more in common with precious metals.

That is very right. It is like a commodity which have higher value and someday will have more value once miners depleted all bitcoins. It is limited just like gold and silver. It will run out, it cannot be created again. This types of things are the ones valuable nowadays. The most rare it is the higher the price.

Of course it's real money. You can use it in any way you want to buy food, clothes or anything else. With time there will be more merchants accepting it.

Yeah it's like real curency if you can buy products every day. I think of it like a paypal alternative.

An average Joe might look at bitcoin as an alternative to paypal, to consider bitcoin as real money. Same way we can see bitcoin as alternative to gold when considering it as investment.

Absolutely bitcoin is an alternative to PayPal and highly recommended because bitcoin has many conveniences and advantages.
The discussion is natural that some people consider bitcoin as real money.

Bitcoin is definitely real money to me. Do you know why?
Because you can exchange it to your own bank account and you can buy things with it. So why it is not real money to me.

Same answer with everyone here. Perhaps some experiences could really help for us to know where or how we can spend it. And how you made it real money for you. The question sucks so let us just get more answers to it than the question.

Yes bitcoin is real money for me but its also a difficult situation, you have to transfer your money. Overall its no problem but it takes sometime, plus you can be scammed real easy.
But you can pay with bitcoin so I consider it as real money.

Yes I agree with you. Do you know why. I think Bitcoin is also a frequently used money.
You can deposit to your bank and you can buy things with it so therefore it is real money to me.

Guys, when you are saying that Bitcoin is real money because you can always change it to local currency then using the same logic we can say that potato is real money too because we can always sell it for local currency and then buy anything with it. )

Perhaps the author meant by real money is that we've been able to buy anything with bitcoin easily and perhaps because he used to buy something with bitcoin. So he considers bitcoin as real money, and if so it would not hurt.

You cannot compare a food item with bitcoins. It can rather be compared to gold as even gold is traded for cash and similar is the case with bitcoins. If only bitcoins did not need any conversion, it could be used as real cash. It needs to be traded in order to buy items online and offline.

This doesn't make any sense. What about all the stores that accept btc as payment?

What about many digital goods here in the forum that have the price in btc?

you're missing the point here.

But still the fact remains that bitcoins can only be used online and it's like other online wallets like google play store credits which cannot be used as fiat unless they are sold for fiat cash. It's virtual money only IMO.

I still think bitcoin should remain as an online currency, it is fundamentally a currency designed for the internet world
