I received my hp server psu from HolyBitcoin and while waiting for a permanent C13 plug end for the power cable I am making, I whipped together a temporary 240v power cable for the psu, good enough to run when I am at home. The machine only sees 11.9v right now, but it hashes away happily at 3.4TH. So no damage done, hurray! I am using the 240 outlet in my laundry room. It's funny, the little fan on the psu is louder than the sanyo on the A6. that is good news to read and see. and yes that little fan whines a lot.

And that is a nice thing about the A6's they are still quiet miners compared to most others. Not as silent as the 4.1's (man were those quiet). But still I had them in my room when testing and did not bother me. I keep very few miners in my room during testing. And you are right a lot of server PSU's use small high RPM fans... they can get quite loud. Its kinda amazing how small fans put out a good amount of noise.

I've come to prefer the HSTNS-P L11 (not HSTNS-P D11) because the fan is nearly silent on PL11 supplies.

If only server PSUs were slightly modular, they'd at least be able to fit and have bigger fans so they wouldn't have to run at such high rpm. Still, most servers are hosted in remote areas of buildings so sound isn't an issue and server psu builders are still on the mission to create the flattest psus with the loudest possible fans. Clap clap way to kill our ears.. ;-; I use a server psu as well but I modded it enough so that I can keep it in my laundry room without there being a jackhammer in my house. I've just been to my friend's house and surprisingly A6 miners are relatively quite. Pretty surprised since i've been a Bitmain fanboy for quite a while now..

I've come to prefer the HSTNS-PL11 (not HSTNS-PD11) because the fan is nearly silent on PL11 supplies.
Good info, do they both move the same volume of air? If so I may look into the other fan for home operation. It's not too loud, but I do notice it now whereas before I almost forgot the A6 was running.

At the moment I don't have any PD11 supplies here to compare the air volume with the PL11, so I can't say for sure. 3 of my PL11 ones have been running for over a year straight with no problems, even during 95F+ summer days in a hot garage. They may be more efficient which results in a lower RPM (and less noise) for the PSU fan. I haven't found an efficiency spec/curve for the PL11, but when not overvolting mine get around 93% on 240V. The only nuisance with the PL11 is the extra parts some of them require to autostart (I'm told that not all require this, but mine did).

Anyone else got his hashrate stats goes to like over 1 millions ? Everything was fine yesterday... I had an uptime of about 16 days. It was still hashing all good, it was just the UI.
Rebooted the Pie, back to normal.

Pretty good website / review. I wish they go more into detail on this statement below and how they achieved the 4.1T.
When the case of mining machine stable operation at a temperature of 75 degrees, voltage 12.1V, the fan speed of about 3000 rpm, G pool and pond, the average count forces around 3.5T. Maximum count force nearly 4.1T, the smallest operator force of about 3.2T, long run without large fluctuations.
P.S Zoomhash is expressing me the missing LED Dongle. Is this the same thing they use on the Avalon 4.1? If so I think I can borrow that piece from another miner that doesn't live too far away.
It looks exactly the same as 4.1 adpters. I cannot guarentee it as I have not hear of anyone trying it. But I put my extra's with my 4.1's as it appeared so close. So I'm guessing yes but cant guarantee it. I will swap my 4.1 with my 6 give me 1 minute. works fine I swapped. this is the pinky sized dongle. so both it and the 4.1 cable interchange with the avalon 6 Just bought 1 used Avalon 6 but discovered the seller didn't have a spare uart to usb dongle. Anyone have a spare one tehy can ship me?

Do you need the stick or the four pin wire?
I do not have an extra stick but I think I have an extra wire.
I will look in a minute.

no just check I can't help I am short 1 stick if I send it. All I could do is sell a full set. which you can daisy chain to. I don't think that works. Avalon6 + four pin wire + adapter did you try zoomhash or blockC yan from block c may have one.

I am 90% certain that Yan at BlockC can sell you a "USB dongle". My recollection is that they are about $10-15. Poke around on their website and you can almost certainly order what you need.

Yan has always been a good guy. So I think if you contact BlockC you will be able to order from them. But I have not tried personally always gotten with miner from them, never ordered seperate. If not Ehash still official source sells them - https://ehash.com/product/avalon-usb-converter/ . Just would be higher shipping coming from China if you are in US.

any luck with this? I moved two of my units from the garage to the solar array. I used a already rasp pi at the solar array. Which means I now have a stick if you still need it. see it in the photo

Like many, I'm following your solar project with buysolar. Seems like the way to go.

I got to meet with Valkir he drove past my home and we ate some breakfast and BS'd for a bit.
Next time he comes my way the solar array should be fully setup with miners.
Right now buysolar does not want a lot of traffic to view it but maybe this summer he will have me fully photo the setup.
The nice thing about the setup is it no longer needs money. Kind of a one shot deal to set it up.
Like putting money in a cd and getting 7% .
Of course that only works if BTC does not tank.
