Just wanted to drop a line here on bct to say that dnet, now pivx, has really been keeping me entertained these last few months. I have been able to add some really cool custom code to it, and things continue to improve. We also believe to have found the cause of the last staking bug in the last wallet release.

ha! that's awesome, will be collecting % in the next few weeks, expect BTC dispatch once I do, might be 1000 pivix from each node then half I sell (and you will receive proceeds, if by these prices.. could be 300$ enough for solid gpu card if you mine, this will go outside usual frame of funding and will be a direct BTC transfer from me to you ) rest back to the network

your work is very much appreciated

actually will ask you first if you want pivix direct of course, its better that way

Can someone do a weekly summary of what's discussed on slack?

I have slack but it feels too much like AOL chat rooms, forums are better for some of us.

I'm currently on a short family trip so just squeezing this in quickly.
BTW, wasn't I already posting new updates frequently enough? Cheesy

UPDATE

1. Re-branding - New logo public poll will be held on slack at the public #polls channel starting today hopefully. It should be open to anyone who's on PIVX slack. (if you haven't joined yet, there's an auto-invite URL on OP) Myself or someone-else if I don't get around to it quick enough will post the PDF with the 4 monochrome logos here so people here can also see it. When voting, PLEASE take time. Sometimes, first impression is all that counts but also, need to take into consideration how they look on a car's bumper sticker, on a t-shirt, on an advertisement banner etc. So ask your family & friends if you want extra opinions etc before voting. We will allow 2-3 days to vote. Goal is to get the top 3 or top 2 unless 1 becomes a clear cut winner by a long shot. Once the new base logo has been picked, extra magic will be done by the media company using colors. After everything is done, the new logo will be put up everywhere. (Bittrex, other exchanges, wallet, OP of this thread, Reddit, Twitter etc.) All this is expected to be done before end of this month!

2. Next wallet release - As per update by presstab few posts before this one, devs seems to have found the cause of the staking that wasn't working in the latest wallet release. (as well as some other bugs) So this will be tested then released. I have a feeling it could be released after the re-brand is more finalized so we can release it as a PIVX wallet with the correct logo. (which could be as early as end of next week if all goes smoothly) But we could have another minor release as DNET with some bugs squashed. Leave it up to the devs to decide.

3. Anon tech - Devs are also going to remove DarkSend, and once all the bugs are dealt with, they will start working on implementing the new anon tech. (this is still a while away so no ETA although obviously I would think by Q2 2017. Note that this is just my wild guess. Could be sooner or later.)

4. Trello Task Management - This is a great tool and allows people to see current tasks that need someone to take on or the core team & community members are currently working on etc. It allows any community member to create a new task, be assigned to an existing task or simply just see & help out on them silently if they please. So please feel free to go to https://trello.com/pivx and participate. More people help out, PIVX will grow and improve much quicker!

I was compensated for bip38, multisend, and the utxosplitter that i just got done implementing. Now I am past the compensation for those specific projects. If you want to donate some pivx my way (I have only a small amount), I have made a new address: DNMT86b62mUzHuJATnrwHDXtGzAmZbH3bs

For now I am going to keep working on refactoring a few things. I may also pick up a few other projects s3v3n mentioned to me.

edit: Also for anyone that has noticed the explorer being a bit laggy... There are several coins on the server that are ruining it for the rest. It has plenty of cpu and memory, but the cpu's are waiting for permission to access the disk. So I have ordered a new SSD to be added to the server, and I will put DNET/pivx as one of the few coins on the SSD (coins I like get preferential treatment Wink ). This will hopefully solve any lag issues.

I wonder if we create a block tax to fund future developments and speed things up? I mean if the block tax is used well it could be very beneficial.

I have heard people mention presstab as a very good coder. We should have funds set aside to keep this level of developer helping pivx

I like above proposal much.. we could vote (just worry about POS stakers...) but % allocation to work just makes sense..

I don't think many people will object to a small block tax if it funds this coin to leap ahead. Time is very important in the crypto sphere.

I would love to see a wallet with auto masternode set up via a few drop down boxes and a few clicks. Would need to bring on some vps companies from all over that accept pivx as payment though.

Not sure the in-wallet masternode creator makes much sense for a few reasons, first and foremost, they are pretty easily setup, and secondly there can only be so many masternodes on the network at any one time for them to maintain a level of profitability and we are almost at that threshold now. If you take the total coincap, decide by 3, then divide by 10k that is approx the max amount of masternodes the network should have for them to be equally as profitable as staking the same amount of coins. Obviously, there are some slight differences to everyone's cost of running a masternode...

When is the next wallet release with the new name of PIVx?

I am hoping to push new binaries sometime next week if the new logo gets chosen by the time all our testing is finished with all the feature updates.

Great timing. With bitcoin cooling off I think that we're in for the rise of the Alts. Everyone wants to catch the new Monero. Will PIVx be the one?!

So masternode number will only grow as coin supply grows? Ok I think I understand now. So POS right now is almost as good as running masternodes?

It's a yes to your first question. I've posted about this before. Here it is:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1262920.msg16501556#msg16501556

Since then, the seesaw logic has been revised so the MN count differs a little although still not too far off.
As for how good PoS is, that still depends on amount of coins being staked. No easy formula for it afaik.
My recommendation = Always do both but put more coins towards what you are most comfortable with.

Nice.

If we could create a development pot that keeps a nice steady flow of funds incoming for developers to live on whilst coding full time for dnet in the future then that would be an ideal situation.

If that could be set up and a full ledger for coins used nobody would complain I'm sure. The appreciation in price for PIVx leaping ahead in terms of features and development would easily and by a long way balance out any loss in % on pos or masternodes to fill the dev pot without affecting inflation of coin emission

Let's get cracking on that one so whilst we have good devs here now helping we can keep them on the team Smiley relying on donations never works a small block tax would be the way to go in expand the dev team to a level where we can challenge the top coins.

I like the contribution model like XMR too:

https://forum.getmonero.org/8/funding-required/87059/shen-noether-ringct-review-multisig-design-and-implementation

I wonder how difficult it would be to set up individual wallets for each task?

Would it be possible to see the balance in a wallet, or would we need a counter?

AFAIK, we already put side 10% of every block reward towards proposals.

We just need to create a proposal for the compensation for what/who/amount/when etc and if vote passes, the payment goes to the receiver's address.
