I have to say Vettel may not be racing just for the money, but he definitely likes the money part for sure. He is racing in a terrible car right now, barely fighting for points, you think that he would be willing to race with such a horrible team and a car, without the money part? He can't be getting into another seat where he would be getting paid more, so that is why he picked Aston Martin.

If he can find a seat like McLaren who definitely needs a veteran like Vettel, and would get paid the same exact amount, he would definitely accept it. When he started out in Aston Martin that could be a price drop for him, but that was mainly because that's all he got as an offer.

Still, I think that Sebastian Vettel's prospects are quite vague in Aston Martin, despite the fact that the team management directly states the opposite about the extension of cooperation with the driver. Still, Vettel has not been successful enough lately, despite all his previous achievements and regalia. Therefore, there is probably a question of finances when the team would like to reduce the level of his salary. Personally, I'm not sure that the option with Mick Schumacher is better than the option with Vettel, given how the son of a great racer crashes cars in Haas. The option with Alonso is also interesting, but here it is worth taking into account his age.

Rins diagnosed with wrist fracture after Barcelona fall.
The Spaniard has been ruled out of Monday’s Catalunya Test and is a doubt for the German Grand Prix in a fortnight.

Following the big crash he suffered at Turn 1 of the Catalan Grand Prix, Alex Rins underwent tests at the Hospital Universitari Dexeus in Barcelona. Initial checks found a fracture in the pyramidal or triquetral bone of his left wrist with no displacement.

A further magnetic resonance (MRI) scan confirmed there was no ligament damage sustained.

Rins will now probably be out for the next race, it is not fixed that he will be absent on 19 June at the Sachsenring, but whether the riding will be possible again by then with the fracture? Apparently there will be no further sanctions against Nakagami, as this is the second time he has made such a mistake.

Also former MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi has a good result, in a strong race at Le Castellet he finished fifth with his Audi. It seems that Rossi has also arrived in car racing.

It's the same for other drivers, too. Notably Hamilton this year... but if we think longer-term, there's no better example than Alonso, a multiple world champion stuck in a car that isn't good enough for him, and can't challenge for wins... but he still sticks it out, he still races. There are very few spots available at big teams, and they don't come up often... and there is also the team-mate to consider, who may not want Vettel or Alonso as a team-mate, and might instead prefer someone they know they can beat.

Alex Albon bringing the only points to a Williams car in many years, even in a car that is so bad that they had to give Latifi a place in order to get some money, is the epitome of talent. Dude deserved to keep that RBR seat, but I get it, he doesn't bring in that much money, maybe Perez doesn't neither but Perez is a great defender whereas Albon was a bit more attacking and they already had Max, so they didn't needed another offensive minded racer, but needed a second that would help Max, not force him or risk him.

But, Albon should get a decent ride again, maybe Mclaren after Daniel leaves, which I am assuming shouldn't be really too far off by the looks of it.

Yup Ricciardo is at high risk of losing his seat.

In the list of leaving F1 drivers, we also have Vettel (he wanted to retire this yeah but after that idea, he looked at his salary...)

What do you mean 'he looked at his salary'?  You saying Vettel is one greedy sob who only cares about money?  Didn't he accept a pay cut to be with Aston Martin?  And if you mean he needs more money then nope.  I think after signing multiple lucrative contracts with Red Bull and with Ferrari, I don't think he needs more money.  He's doing it for the love of being an F1 driver.  I wouldn't be surprised if he takes another pay cut to slide in Ricciardo's spot at McLaren.  And I hope he does...

And how come Verstappen is slight favorite to win at Azerbaijan?  He's lined at 2.10 and Leclerc is at 2.75?  I think the books have it wrong and they're suffering from recency bias.

Ah how I wish he would come to McLaren, would love to see a great driver,a 4 times world Champion joining McLaren which although it doesn't look like they are in great shape,it is only the first year with the new regulations and maybe they will improve dramatically for the next year.I have always loved to see a classy driver like Vettel is to race for McLaren.

No the bookies are not wrong,Redbull has great power at full speed and as far as I know the Baku circuit is a fast track.I would normally rate both drivers with the same odd as it will be only their bravery who will decide for who will be the winner, both Ferrari and Redbull as cars are great and in this track I think their performance to be nearly the same, for this we have to wait on Friday.

Mmmm..  I'd like to see him at Aston Martin for a couple more years tbh.  It hasn't really been great since the rebrand from pink to green but I have a feeling they'll get it right next year.  The revised 2022 specs wasn't really good timing for them.  But think about it, just a couple of years before the rebrand, they were a midtable team who was always fighting for the top spots outside Reb Bull and Mercedes.

But yeah, my guess is it's over for Vettel.  He'll retire after this season as his contract ends this year.

I suppose it seems quite likely he'll go, but it just depends on his mindset. Some drivers, notably Raikkonen, just carry on for years even though they're not going to win races any more. Vettel still performs at a decent level, and I'm sure there will be a drive for him somewhere if he wants it, although maybe not on a mega-salary. Basically it's in his hands, if he has the hunger and will to carry on, he will. If he wants to leave F1 and pursue other stuff, he'll do that instead. But I think it will be his decision, he won't be forced out.

He comes to mind a lot for me too. My kid watches F1 more than me (even the Fe) and it surprises me he overlooks Alonso a lot, probably doesn't register in his recent memory that the guy's an actually good driver, just happy to play second fiddle. Guys like that do enjoy racing and showing off but they know what they're there for and are just literally there to enjoy the ride.

Personally, think my love affair with Tsunoda will be unrequited. He's not impressed me this season so far.

Yeah, more likely he is.  But not because I think he isn't in a good mindset.  It's just because he and Aston Martin hasn't come to an agreement for a new contract.  So it will be a seperation by mutual agreement.  Vettel thought Aston Martin could give him a car to somewhat challenge for GP's and the team prolly expected somewhat a tad more from Vettel.

Anyway, who you guys got at Azerbaijan?  I feel like Leclerc will get one back.  He'll be first in FP1 thru FP3, quali and the race.

You may think that "doing everything he can to stay there" is a thing, but if a team doesn't want you, you are gone. Vettel won 4 in a row, which is why he moved to Ferrari, and gave them the closest they got to a championship in a long time, but he failed, and that is why Ferrari decided to pack it in, get young stars, and then start making decisions based on this year's car, instead of focusing what Mercedes already did. They could have been the Red Bull of last year, they could have kept Vettel and spent all that money on that car, and win just one cup, but instead they decided to focus on the future of the sport and wins they may get now.

There are only a few days to go for the Azerbaijan GP. This is one of the very exciting tracks for me so I'm looking forward to watching the full event. Leclerc has a really bad memory related to this track as he crashed into a barrier because of making a mistake. I think that he will have a decent race here after that huge tactical mistake in the Monaco GP too. He need to get as many points as possible to start fixing things for himself. Verstappen is already ahead of him so he had better do his best to take the lead back.

Rins will now probably be out for the next race, it is not fixed that he will be absent on 19 June at the Sachsenring, but whether the riding will be possible again by then with the fracture? Apparently there will be no further sanctions against Nakagami, as this is the second time he has made such a mistake.

It's a shame for Alex Rins who had to suffer the consequences of the accident. I am also very surprised why Nakagami did not get any sanctions on this incident and was only considered an accident incident in a race and some people have also started criticizing Nakagami including Quartararo which I read about in the local media .
And this kind of incident has also happened in the past in 2019 where Jorge Lorenzo, who was defending Repsol Honda, fell and hit Dovizioso, Vinales and Rossi.

That fight for the lead is as open as possible with only very few points dividing the leaders,in fact they say there are three people now fighting, beside Leclerc and Verstappen also Perez is near now but personally I would also not exclude the fourth person,Russell.Mercedes could not do much in a track like Monaco but here in Baku if they have brought new upgrades I think they can make an impact in this race, although not fighting for the win but fighting for a podium here would be a nice achievement for them. The more drivers we have in the title fight the better the season.

If Sebastian Vettel was racing just for money, he would do everything he can not to lose his place in Ferrari. He had a quite big yearly salary at Ferrari as far as I can remember now. He must be earning 40 million dollars per year then. But now he is earning even less than the half of that money, 15 million dollars. He still wants to be a part of this sport by racing for another team. He is having big problems with the car at Aston Martin for now but he must be still enjoying his time in F1.

@FanEagle it was clear that things were not working for Vettel and Ferrari, and going their separate ways made sense for both the parties hence it was a logical decision on their part. Furthermore Vettel didn’t want to leave because he yet feels that he can perform, but I’m starting to wonder if his era is over as he clearly won’t be in the top 3 drivers ranking anytime soon.

I think it is very natural that Nakagami did not get any sanctions for this incident because this was purely an accident not intentional or contact with other drivers so that this accident occurred. Nakagami lost his balance at the first corner, causing him to fall and hit two other drivers.
and unfortunately from this incident Alex Rins who got a slight injury to his arm that made him most likely to miss the Sachsenring race next June 19, I really regret if Rins is absent at this circuit, because the character of this circuit is very suitable for Rins' racing style which is very possible to he can perform optimally after getting bad results in the previous few races.

I'm also against high penalties for racing accidents, but in Nakagami's case it's just that he's pushed Rins out of two races in a row with aggressive manoeuvres. A repeat offender could be given a light penalty, for example 3 places back on the grid for the next race. That wouldn't be a big penalty, but it would also be a way of saying that it doesn't OK what he do.

Racing incidents are part of the racing world, it just happens without any type of mistake, when you are going that fast, sometimes mistakes happens. I get that when you repeat it, that becomes a bit of a trouble and if you let it happen again and again, you will be seeing that and people will riot eventually, or protest at least.

So, you need to make some people examples on why you shouldn't do that in repeat, but then you are missing out on real racing and seeing people who are staying away from each other's paths in order to not get high penalties, which is good for the health of the drivers, but we are not seeing 100% given in that case.

The situation was embarrassing for Ferrari and Leclerc.
If you can remember they were touching the car in almost every race.

They could not be in the same team anymore, and they just fired him.
