Reading through Slack:

"so markets look good. an absolute bloodbath out there today in alt work and yet ion is 20% up"

LOL. No wallet but they insist ION is BOOMING. You can't make this shit up.

They released a new wallet but no word on rollback. Can't be bothered to read through all that bullshit but it's kinda bizarre that nearly three weeks into this flustercuck there is still no official word from the "team".

Actually it's probably not bizarre at all in their own universe. Standard MO.

The team does not need to say what's going on because ION has PoN!

so it was the time warp exploit. this was done to coins early last year or maybe before. why was ion so incompetent not to have that payched to start with? its like doing web database access without sanitizing input or not stopping sql injection or not doing parameterized queries.

why has it taken so long to fix? did their googling for fixes take longer than expected?

what about legitimate coins generated in this extended time people lose?

how does this affect your confidence in them now and future considering it took ages to fix.

I'm enjoying it very much. In typical paycoiner fashion they couldn't even get the date right. Kinda important for a rollback, wouldn't you say?

Quote
The blockchain was forked at Block 176500 (Thursday, June 22, 2017 6:33:04 PM GMT)

Block 176500:

June 15

So which is it?

Edit - more fun from slack - as if there was any doubt that paycoiners don't grasp this whole blockchain thingamajiggy:

i dont think they understand this whole private public key thing. the mathematical cryptography just has values items sit at.

its like them calling the postal service up after they change fees to ask when they are coming to update the mailbox at the front of their house.

im most interested in wildshark and korvas's dissappearance. seems they will be back when the chains moving again so i guess they just run from the kitchen when it gets hot

boki/tor isnt a dev is he? actually i dont think any can be considered devs if they just copy changes from other coins to fix.

ive also never heard of leading edge... just bleeding edge.

how are you innovative if you just copy new blockchain changes. this makes you an immitator not innovator. business buzz words should be backed up... state how you are innovative else its misleading and false advertising.

i for 1 discourage game devs from using ionomy as a platform. they would have just lost weeks of revenue and also likely to again based on past track record rebase etc. its high risk to use their coin. the devs have no risk as they have their premine. and they centralise decisions like banks choosing to rollback without consideration for those that did honest transactions. they should have tagged the bad masternode and just revoked those transactions at a min.

Yes, tor seems to be the dev - or at least "a" dev - since a few weeks ago. Which has all sorts of interesting implications, such as the timing of the attack, choice of the rollback block, and possibly more fun in the future given the lack of peer review and QA. Inmates running the asylum, what could possibly go wrong.

I haven't gone anywhere just been lurking and observing  Smiley

Interesting argument to discourage game devs......

What would your solution have been ? Implement a fix, keep the same chain & let everyone keep the extra stakes including the thieves. Maybe this is what the thieves were banking on...... short sighted greedy investors pushing the devs into a corner

The thieves attempts were foiled with the outcome being a stronger ionomy. Think of this as your immune system fighting off an infection. The next infection that comes along will have to battle an even stronger immune system...... like life if it don't kill you it will make you stronger.

BTW. Have you had a chance to checkout the new wallet yet it's brill.

I really like how they've cleaned up the Masternodes tab which btw has nothing to do with the exploit  Grin

I didn't say anything about copying. You're hallucinating.

A better solution would be to do some quality assurance so that you wouldn't need a bailout. Failing to do so, rollback should be the last resort. If the team had proper devs they would have plugged the hole in a couple of days and not wait three weeks. It's funny how you're still so blinded by Garza's rhetoric that you think "trolls" caused this but you're also ignoring the part where the "criminal" actually gets to keep 1000s of IONs. The rollback leaves about a week's worth of staking untouched.

You either go all the way (June 7), or back to the date of announcement (June 17, although the announcement should have been issued immediately, why wait 10 days?), or no rollback at all. This half-assed rollback is probably the worst possible choice, not that it's surprising given the actors.

BTW the new chain is running about 10-20% too fast. Brilliant devs indeed.

Edit: this shit is quite funny. The new difficulty adjustment seems to have a "floor", or rather a "ceiling", where it keeps going down and gets stuck at a low difficulty for a number of blocks... some examples:

https://i.snag.gy/pyeuEt.jpg
https://i.snag.gy/jZz47r.jpg
https://i.snag.gy/aEDtwW.jpg
https://i.snag.gy/mAHcJQ.jpg

Clearly out of touch with the block times. I can't be bothered to plot a chart but I have a feeling it would be hilarious.

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/ion/#!overview

Lots of blocks with identical timestamps too. But I'm sure it's all part of the grand vision.

Edit - this chart shows how the difficulty (orange line) spikes up and down and bottoms out. Has been mostly down recently despite the fact that more wallets are coming online:

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/ion/#!extraction

Transfercoin chart for comparison:

I browsed a few other POS coins and can't find any that would have this weird flat-bottom spiky diff chart. Let's hope ION isn't having breathing issues again.

Lots of blocks with identical timestamps too. But I'm sure it's all part of the grand vision.

Edit - this chart shows how the difficulty (orange line) spikes up and down and bottoms out. Has been mostly down recently despite the fact that more wallets are coming online:

Transfercoin chart for comparison:

I browsed a few other POS coins and can't find any that would have this weird flat-bottom spiky diff chart. Let's hope ION isn't having breathing issues again.

Your right about copying but to say this is a copy of a blockchain just exposes your ignorance & your agenda of ill intent.

Your lame attempt to slander Tor is also pathetically funny. The only interesting implication that I can see is one in which you totally underestimated TOR.

So far the only complaints I can see about the rollback are from the trolls of which hidden amongst this felch is the criminal who had 1000's of  ION just disappear. Smiley  I can't think of a better solution..... can you

LOL! "Was just about to point out.." ya right. I don't even think you understand what suchmoon is talking about, which makes sense for an ION whale.

Instead of shilling, why don't you present what is false about what suchmoon posted?

Is this project still active and if so which part of the roadmap is it currently being worked on? Any links would be appreciated. I checked out the website but couldnt manage to find what is being worked on.

They're barely able to keep the blockchain "breathing" and the roadmap has nothing to do with reality.

E.g. "one game per month" isn't happening, they produced one incomplete game in 13+ months.

Now their business plan seems to be switching to faucets or something like that.

Of course, it's my fault that you can't read. I'm sorry for using big words and long sentences. I will not try to dumb it down for you, sorry.

Let me help you with the fundamental flaw thingy. You wanted to point out that it's running ~10% faster by design, until it catches up to the target time of 64 seconds per block, right?

Because more coins is better, everybody knows that Smiley

i dont think they understand this whole private public key thing. the mathematical cryptography just has values items sit at.

its like them calling the postal service up after they change fees to ask when they are coming to update the mailbox at the front of their house.

im most interested in wildshark and korvas's dissappearance. seems they will be back when the chains moving again so i guess they just run from the kitchen when it gets hot

boki/tor isnt a dev is he? actually i dont think any can be considered devs if they just copy changes from other coins to fix.

ive also never heard of leading edge... just bleeding edge.

how are you innovative if you just copy new blockchain changes. this makes you an immitator not innovator. business buzz words should be backed up... state how you are innovative else its misleading and false advertising.

i for 1 discourage game devs from using ionomy as a platform. they would have just lost weeks of revenue and also likely to again based on past track record rebase etc. its high risk to use their coin. the devs have no risk as they have their premine. and they centralise decisions like banks choosing to rollback without consideration for those that did honest transactions. they should have tagged the bad masternode and just revoked those transactions at a min.

I really like how they've cleaned up the Masternodes tab which btw has nothing to do with the exploit  Grin

did you read? i said at minimum they should blacklist the bad masternode and its transactions. iterate from the start trans and flag the masternodes doing it.

interesting argument to discourage game dev? so you think its good that game devs would of lost money? do you think it appropriate? i think its a valid point. if it happens in the future is it acceptable to hurt those you ate trying to attract? your thoughts here on why thats acceptable please dont avoid answering it.

your immune system analogy is just an attempt at a feel good statement and is flawed. if this change was an immune system then it didnt attack the virus like immune systems do it attacked the bodies organs as well. this immune response destroyed the growth the body did in that few weeks. also immune systems remember that same virus and doesnt protect from new strains. the process repeats again when a new threat comes to the body. so im assuming the immune response from ionomy next infection is to attack the body again and harm everything to get 1 user? thats why i said devs should be aware and stay away as they are burdened with the risk. ion devs have their premine... rollback doesnt hurt them.

your analogy with immune systems is now accurate.
