Nobody will know what is going to happen with Bitcoin and that is the problem because Bitcoin is a currency so it is hard to predict for what will happen in the future. And that would be a problem because not everyone has the patience for it to wait such a long time.
How come you see it as a problem? No one can predict what stocks will do (unless they trade with insider information). No one knows what certain other fiat currencies will do. Is that also a problem for you? I haven't seen many other people complain about it as it keeps the market interesting for traders and speculators.

2017 will probably define bitcoins as it is to the media and public. It will get lots of attention both good and bad. It will definitely jump up in price as people want it so they buy them.

Yeah I think bitcoin will become more popular in coming years, and higher price will attract many new users to join the bitcoin world making bitcoin more bigger in future.

How so? I've heard the same multiple times for both 2015 and 2016.
Yeah why based on what are people saying this? We do not know what is going to happen with Bitcoin in 2017. We will just have to wait and see what 2017 is going to bring us. Yeah people have no proof that 2017 is going to be the year of the Bitcoin. Only the future can tell us what is going to happen so that means that we just have to wait and see what is going to happen.

Let's not jump the gun just yet. Or let's not count the chicks while the eggs aren't hatched. Time is something that's neutral and it waits for no one. It doesn't care whether BTC's price will rise or fall. It's us that make owning BTC a little more exciting than our fiat. Here's to the first half of 2016.

By 2017 bitcoin will surely jump high as the price of bitcoin is growing in accordance to the increase in users. I believe bitcoin have gradual rise on 2017 rather than a big bump.

What are you talking about? 2016 is the year of Bitcoin because of halving. Well, that's the way I see it. How would 2017 be the year of Bitcoin?
We can assume that this year can be good because of halving appearing in next few months, but we cannot be sure what next year would hold for us. but there is the possibility of halving that can make the price increase, then in 2017 the price more increased and when the price touched $1000. yeah we can say the year of the Bitcoin as long as the price yet again touched $1000.

2016 is the year of the Bitcoin. We have the debate of the block size increase, general adoption, halving and price rise.

The year of the bitcoin is more of 2016. 2017 could be the year of the altcoins once further problems in bitcoin arises.

Actually agree. This year lots of major events take placed and will be take place. The outputs this year will be seen in the following year which is 2017 so I can't considered 2017 as year of bitcoin just because the possibility of price increase will take place that year. It's just an output caused by 2016 events.

I am still thinking 2016 is the year of Bitcoin Grin However, Bitcoin price and adoption rises constantly and the price stability reaches a level I have not seen since I am into this forum. It is getting more and more clear that currencies like Bitcoin belong the future and therefore the next years (probably decades) will belong to Bitcoin and other crypto currencies.

Segwit-Sigwit and Bitcoin halving are the most major events that will really bring the bitcoin price to some major difference and this is really different. 2017 will be the year of bitcoin in a way that it will touch the 2016 events results.

Shaping up as big year you know last year people said "2016 year of bitcoin" the year before that "2015 year of bitcoin" and so on. So basically according to people every year is the year of bitcoin but not as they expected it to be.

A lot of things might still happen, before 2017. I am predicting a slight increase in price, between $500 and $600 around the Halving and then a strong decrease as people reach the selling point and the supply increase on the exchanges. Going into 2017 we will see a decline in price again, because most people would be concentrating on their holidays and festive spending. I hope by then that the Open Bazaar concept would have gained some momentum and that it would boost the Bitcoin economy.

We should be optimistic here especially those people like me who invested their coins already. For year 2017 it should be a massive adoption already from different sectors of the community to integrate blockchain in their daily transactions, and with that happening the price should increase.

2017 will be a better year for Bitcoin and that is because it was in this year a long time stable and that have to change soon because many people dont like the value now. And they want to make profit and they have already waited a long time so there must be a time to sell it soon.

I think that 2017 will bring some clearence how governments want to deal with bitcoins. Some might start seeing bitcoins as a threat some as an opportunity and some will fall behind. Especially the chinese market with all the mining power is going to be interesting

In 2017 i think its another great year for bitcoin as you can see this year 2016 steam accepts now bitcoin as their mode of payment and many people really for that achievement and by that bitcoin really bounce his name in business sector, and let see what happen in year 2017 i speculate by that year online shopping stores will adopt bitcoin slowly for sure.
