these new batches released after halving are still insanely priced way too high +1 here too, I am just sat waiting to buy at the moment. Even with a low, nearly flat 2% network growth per interval it would take just over a year to ROI these things with fairly priced electricity ($0.67/kWh). That's if they don't brick. If pool luck is steady. If network growth acts predictable. If you have 100% uptime on both Internet and power... All that risk and your reward? Break even. This is a hobbyist's game now. Bitmain has discovered that there will always be people willing to pay more than these will ever return. |

If you are only thinking in terms of fiat then yea I guess your pushing it. But I've got winter mining that is 5 months and many other factors that will contribute to my my success on this purchase. To each their own. It is a decentralized business everyone free to make their own decisions without being ridiculed. Sorry if I have offended anyone with trying to put my views on others. Bitmain has discovered that there will always be people willing to pay more than these will ever return. okay so lets look at this above. yes on the surface breakeven is in a year. with A .067cent power rate and a flat like diff rate of 2% but many of us will use the heat .. I will use heat from them in NOV- MARCH that is about 500 usd in heating saved. IF they hold value better then the s-7 more like the s-5 I can sell them at 700 next July. so the breakeven becomes +1200 and for a 1900 investment 3100 a year later is not so bad at all. be negative and say you get 400 back on resale so 1900 back for mining + 500 back for heat + 400 back resale means 1900 becomes 2800 So if you have the correct power and setup 1900 looks pretty good.  |

So, I take it the price of S9 hasnt been corrected for halving yet? ... looks outrageously overpriced...
these new batches released after halving are still insanely priced way too high +1 here too, I am just sat waiting to buy at the moment. Even with a low, nearly flat 2% network growth per interval it would take just over a year to ROI these things with fairly priced electricity ($0.67/kWh). That's if they don't brick. So, I take it the price of S9 hasnt been corrected for halving yet? ... looks outrageously overpriced...
these new batches released after halving are still insanely priced way too high +1 here too, I am just sat waiting to buy at the moment. Even with a low, nearly flat 2% network growth per interval it would take just over a year to ROI these things with fairly priced electricity ($0.67/kWh). That's if they don't brick. I know some one may have grabbed 5 s-7s' but for the most part the high btc numbers look to be divisible by 2.8 and 3.1 btc which are the prices for batch 8 and 9. remember no bank drafts at all are there. and I did exclude a 3000 coin deposit which maybe a 1000 unit sale and is 2,000,000 usd whatever it is. So they are doing really well on sales. Yeah, I noticed that at least with kano pool, the number of users has dwindled from over 1210 to under 1170 over the last 7 days and the hashrate has increased somewhat to over 45 PHs. It can only mean that some users with inefficient, old miners have dropped out but other existing users have upgraded to more efficient miners. At least that's my intrepretation. |

One small item to consider. I am not 100% sure what block reward is being used by bitcoinwisdom on it's "Bitcoin Difficulty" page. When you drill down into the "Bitcoin Calculator" page, it still fills in a 25BTC block reward. You can obviously over-ride that, but it can be a bit misleading.
For profit/loss calculations, you might want to consider using the coinwarz.com calculator. It's obvious as to what it's using.

I remember up until a couple months ago, they were still set at the old higher litecoin block reward size. They've never bothered to update the litecoin block reward. I'm just pointing this out because they haven't bothered to update the bitcoin block reward size from 25 to 12.5. Are they just lazy, don't care, or stupid? |

Right, but blocks of 12.95 since kano.is is paying about that each block

Just use it then divide your results in half. or by two for the critics. |

I'm guessing not a top priority since you can change it your self on "Block Reward". I would hope they are working on it and surprised it has not made it out there yet. Still one of my favorite calculator's just have to make sure to change block reward manually right now. I would hope no one actually uses it and does not manually update it. As that would be quite a problem when calculating ROI. But were kinda getting offtrack of S9, although this thread has a LOT of that it seems. |
