Hi all, I am kev, I have been bitcoin mining for about a year now, i am running about 4ghz on btcguild and 6 - 7 on p2pool... although this fluctuates. I have been a long time lurker and have finally decided to post. I have set up my own merged mining, etc. I do reverse engineering and crypto by trade. I am currently part of a small team designing a 12 fpga modular miner. (we have yet to think of a decent name.. we are currently in the prototyping stage and awating our next batch of boards and spartans. due to the day job of a couple of the team members we have access to some small artix 7 engineering samples. we will be building future compatibility into our fpga boards. we may or may not open source it. Thats about it for now i guess. cheers, k.

Bitcoin addresses contain a checksum, so it is very unlikely that mistyping an address will cause you to lose money.

I'm Batman.
This is by far the most seen post on the bitcoin forums, I am certain of that. It is also nearly the most useless thing ever written.

Hi! New to bitcoins... Trying to find a way to get a few to try it out... Proving to be more difficult than I thought at first... At any rate, I am a sysadmin and plan on using some unused cycles for mining.... free money as I won't be paying the electric bill ;-)

Got a question..What does this mean,on the bottom of the bitcoin wallet? Warning:Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade,or other nodes may need to upgrade.
It means you may need to upgrade. The current version is 0.6.1. What version are you using? Also how much active connections do I need, for bitcoin to work properly?
Only one is required for Bitcoin to work, though Bitcoin will try to make 8 connections (by default), to ensure there's no interruptions if some drop out. And on setting,Do you guys pay the optional transaction fee per kb.?
I don't, but Bitcoin will still ask you to pay an additional fee for "low-priority" transactions though, regardless of what you set here. Note that although fees are (mostly) optional now, eventually a minimum fee will be required (at least if you want your transactions to go through).

I'm new to this forum. I am thrilled to be here. In a previous life, I lived at Laissez Faire City and had some involvement with the Digital Monetary Trust venture of Orin Grabbe.

Hi guys, been reading this forum for last 6 months and have a nice 4.2gh/s running fairly stable now. Would appreciate if someone with referral privileges could invite me to Bitcoin Savings & Trust. I just read about it and would be interested in getting in on the action.

I'm not new to Bitcoin, and I'm not new to this forum. I just haven't had the need to post before. I have created a small bitcoin service that I will be releasing very soon.

Hello Fellow Bitcoin Addicts, I've been using Bitcoin for a little over two years, almost exclusively for personal purchases. I've decided to do a side project for fun to help promote Bitcoin at http://bitcoinraffle.co/. The idea is to give others a chance to easily get their hands on some Bitcoin without having to install any malware, fill out endless surveys, or max out their GPU trying to mine their own coins. The first raffle will be for at least 10 BTC. I say at least 10 BTC, because the drawing will be held at midnight (UTC) on the day the prize pool reaches 10 BTC. Tickets are 0.10 BTC each, so 100 tickets need to be sold to meet the minimum prize pool. All transactions posted before midnight (UTC) on that day will be counted in the drawing, so the prize could likely be more than 10 BTC. I'm keeping the ticket price low so it's easier for people new to Bitcoin to participate. I will only keeping 0.5% of the take to help with overhead, so they payout will be 99.5% of whatever is collected. So on a 10 BTC prize pool, I will make a whopping 0.05 BTC. So you can see I'm not in this for the money, I'm doing it for fun and to help promote Bitcoin. I've taken some steps to ensure the system is cheat-proof. Each ticket is made up of the following data elements: - Daily3 mid-day numbers from MichiganLottery.com from the day the prize pool minimum is met
- Bitcoin address that sent the payment
- number 0001 thru number of tickets you purchased (if you sent 3x the ticket price, your tickets would be: 0001, 0002, 0003)
- The first Bitcoin block number with a timestamp after midnight on the day the prize pool minimum is met
SHA256 hashes are calculated for the data string (made up of the four elements listed above) for each ticket sold, then sorted (0-9,A-Z). The winner is the ticket at the top of the list. The transactions/tickets can easily be viewed using the Bitcion Block Explorer at http://blockexplorer.com/address/1Hxjf7yzS8C5obUBcVKxFNSFVCeaVhmTeAStill, I know this will require some level of trust. That's another reason why I'm keeping the ticket price and prize fairly small right now. I want people to see that it will actually work and they are not being lied to. I think it will be fun. I hope some of you will try it out!
