90 day warranty for 1 year roi

with  asic chips  that have more problems then any older larger asic chips.

Sounds like a no go.

I could use two of these but based on my s-9's that have had dead asic chip issues I fear purchase of them with the short warranty.

I do ROI calculations fully in USD   you need 12 cent power and a use for the heat it will make to stand a decent chance of cash profit.

I would take a shot with a longer warranty  but for now the are a pass.

No offence, but you keep repeating yourself.  Cheesy

I can see you sitting in front of your PC, Bitmain Cart with 2 x R4 and APW5 open, mouse pointer floating over 'Checkout'. Since launch  Cheesy

Just do it, you will sleep better. Sooner or later you won't be able to resist the temptation anyways.

I'm pretty certain buyers will get a coupon for this batch.

I would like to think that  but I purchased  s-9 batch 1 and have not received a coupon for it.

You are correct in that I will buy one of these sooner or later. Grin

This miner doesn't really seem to offer much over the S9, what you gain in silence you lose in hashrate and people who mine are going to want to be as profitable as possible especially after the reward halving.  I just don't see the market for this thing

there are thousands of offices through the USA  that are over ac'd in the summer and under heated in the winter.

Many of them use an electric space heater and burn 900 watts to warm the room up.

the s-9 would be stupid loud

this would be perfect for that office.

pricing... i think most will be upset but it's gonna sell like hotcakes!

nice & innovative design but fan replacement will be pita. no aftermarket that can be sourced easily.
$1300 USD is pretty high for a home miner that has a year ROI, the only good thing is a die shrink isn't coming anytime soon but the negative is that they will get better at optimizing their current technology but that isn't guaranteed. Who knows how long these things would actually be viable for.

Let's evaluate the Cost per TH/s and furthermore the Net 12 month Profit:

R4        $1385 /   8.6TH/s = $161.05
S9B13  $1600 / 12.93TH/s = $123.74
S9B12  $1442 / 11.85TH/s = $121.67

Your calculation comes up with $5.88 for the 8.6TH/s = $0.68 profit per TH/s
Using this as the basis (I think that this is a little low, but you should use kano.is for best profitability)

R4        $0.68 per TH/s x 8.6TH/s = $5.88 profit per day x 30 days per month = $176.40 profit per month = $1385 / $176.40 = 7.85 months ROI
S9B13  $0.68 per TH/s x 12.93TH/s = $8.79 profit per day x 30 days per month = $263.70 profit per month = $1600 / $263.70 = 6.07 months ROI
S9B12  $0.68 per TH/s x 11.85TH/s = $8.06 profit per day x 30 days per month = $241.80 profit per month  = $1442 / $241.80 = 5.96 months ROI

It may look like S9B12 would be the best buy, but look at the long term profitability (12 months).

R4        $176.40 x 12 = $2116.80 profit per year - (2116.80/12) x 7.85 = $1384.74 cost to ROI. $2116.80 - $1384.74 = $732.06 Net 12 month Profit
S9B13  $263.70 x 12 =  $3164.40 profit per year - (3164.40/12) x 6.07 = $1600.66 cost to ROI. $3164.40 - $1600.66 = $1563.74 Net 12 month Profit
S9B12  $241.80 x 12 =  $2901.60 profit per year - (2901.60/12) x  5.96 = $1441.13 cost to ROI. $2901.60 - $1441.13 = $1460.47 Net 12 month Profit

SUMMARY:

R4        $732.06 Net 12 month Profit
S9B13  $1563.74 Net 12 month Profit
S9B12  $1460.47 Net 12 month Profit

S9B13 is the best buy

R4        $0.68 x 8.6 = $5.88 x 30 = $176.40 per month = 1395/176.40 = 7.91 months ROI
S9B13  $0.68 x 12.93 = $8.79 x 30 = 263.70 per month = 1600/263.70 = 6.07 months ROI
S9B12  $0.68 x 11.85 = $8.06 x 30 = 241.80 per month  = 1442/241.80 = 5.96 months ROI

S9B13  $263.70 x 12 =  $3164.40 profit per year - (3164.40/12) x 6.07 = $1600.66 = $3164.40 - $1600.66 = $1563.74 Net 12 month Profit
S9B12  $241.80 x 12 =  $2901.60 profit per year - (2901.60/12) x  5.96 = $1441.13 = $2901.60 - $1441.13 = $1460.47 Net 12 month Profit

R4        $721.28 Net 12 month Profit
S9B13  $1563.74 Net 12 month Profit
S9B12  $1460.47 Net 12 month Profit

S9B13 is the best buy

Thus my issue at 14c kwh at 1000 watts say for the R4 that is $1209.60 in electric for the year....looking at R4 above $721.28 net sure don't cut it....that is $ -569.32 LOSS for the year. Sad
and $275.28 profit for the year on an s9b13 also is not great shakes...or for the s9b12 $250.87 also don't cut it.

Also, this link says the average cost per kwh for electric in the USA from google comes up to 12c kwh.....these home miners are not gonna get a lot of traction in the USA. Smiley

So again......that 2c kwh from what I get don't cut a lot of slack either imho...

(I know 14c kwh is high...but this is all about me damn it!) Smiley

Likely the R4's are all sold out already....it is too dismal for me to look....(newbie candy I guess) Sad

Theres a video on youtube of a guy that has one. Wasn't a great start as soon as he fired it up it said there was a fault. Search "antminer r4 setup" and you should see it. Its part 2 of the series I assume hes doing.

I don't know if this was discussed before but anyone feels like this miner is from the leftovers of their S9 chips, to make some extra profit while replacing their miners with new generation just like they did with S5+?
Oh thats hell of a long sentence.
Probably not. The S9s are still selling like hotcakes and it's unlikely they would have the next gen 3 months after launch. S5+ showed up ~8 months after S5.

That face when buying and holding Bitcoin at S9 & R4 release, instead of purchasing a miner.

If you would want to underclock this alot could you use only 2 PCIE cables per board?

Apparently 40-45% custom fan speed is optimal, slow but not so slow there are annoying variances in fan speed.

Going to experiment with frequencies that would suit that fan speed, probably around 400MHz for longevity.

Haha, just what I did with S7 release. I think it was Biadom who was actively talking about it. I bought btc rather than buying that shitty miner and boom, I made 2x profit. With these prices, its almost always the best choice with those prices.

The question is, are they really sold out or rather didn't sell at this price?

the price was too low.  other then the short warranty it is an easy choice for a low power cost that needs to be quiet.

So buyers are gambling it won't break down.  I would have purchased one maybe two  but after my s-9's up and died I got scared.

A third one is acting up I will check on it today.

I mine alt coins with https://simplemining.net...
I see BTC as the super highway and alt coins as taxis and trucks needed to move transactions.
