Whatever you do, I firmly advise against buying bitcoin via Coinbase credit or debit card. Not only they charge 3.99% fee on top of their ask price, but cc will also add a $20 foreign transaction fee to it. I have no idea why, maybe because bitcoin is kind of foreign currency (and not a commodity) according to cc. $ 640 purchase had $50 fees or 7.8% total Coinbase=Western Union
I assume you didn't use a USD credit card. The foreign exchange fees are charged by credit card companies. If your credit card is not based in USD, it's likely you were incurring an exchange. no, US cc; CC probably considers bitcoin a foreign currency. Sorry to hear that. I am in Canada so I always get charged with foreign currency conversion lol. Try a different card, some do not charge those fees no, first and last, will use GDAX or Gemini instead.

The three month warranty is a deal breaker for me I will have to pass. If a year warranty parts and labor was offered no problem.

Keep hoping........ Bitmain has approximately zero reason to extend the warranty or otherwise improve their terms. Maybe they'll reconsider if/when a batch takes a week to sell out?

I tried searching myself: Who is mining with two R4's powered by a single APW5 PSU inside the United States? I currently own a single R4 batch #2 and APW5 PSU. I am interested in purchasing another R4, however I will need an electrician to install a new outlet for me. I assume a 220V? I'm curious what all is required. I assume a C13 power cord to a specific outlet, but unsure of the outlet type? I'm not sure where to search further. Thank you in advance. Ps. My batch #2 R4 quit hashing on one board after several days, but after flashing to a new firmware image from the bitmain website and rebooting, I have not had any issues since.

Thank you. I might have stumbled onto the general sales page then. I was expecting 180-day, and will be disappointed if less otherwise.

Yeah, one might think that an increased warranty period would mean the company in question believes their equipment is more reliable and hence fewer returns...

with coins shifting upwards I can get the 7.5 model including shipping for 1.111 btc
I purchased 2 coins last week at 800 each.
so 800 x 1.111 = $888.88
pretty tempting . Warranty is 180 days.
I think I will buy it.
One thing to consider is this gear will do .1 watts per gh while the new t9 will do .121 watts per gh.
I put the order in a few minutes ago I have a bit of time to decide.

Does not exist. As has oft been said before: Auto-tune exists so Bitmain can use all the rather variable performing dies (chips) they can get from each wafer produced by TSMC. By being able to have each hash board run at its 'optimum" (in my book - run reliably at all) Vcore/freq/Temp settings Bitmain is able to mix and match different performing boards to produce advertised specs. Once Auto-tune finds those volts/freq/temp settings per-board that it thinks are best the information is stored in the PIC of each hashboard for faster reboots (methinks).

And I too picked up another R4 batch 6 today since BTC is over $900 again Need it to replace the 2 s7's I've been running at home for Winter heating. Just too power hungry at 15-cents/kWh even if they do reduce the gas bill.. At least the 2x early batch s9's in the basement still fully pay for their feed and more. So far very happy with the batch 4 I picked up earlier which is running silently sitting in my office by my desk.

yeah. I am going to sell off some gpus. Phil, hope your percentage is better than mine... Got 2 R4's, one is hashing on one board so total of only 75% of the hashrate I paid for, and 50% failure rate (for this small sample size tho)

I got very lucky with timing the purchase. I paid 1.091 when I first checked it was 1.21 btc yesterday's rally to 915 a coin dropped me to 1.091 , Basically I saved over 80 dollars by good timing.
