Philippines can be a drug free country, if Filipino citizens will be well disciplined, and well informed what drugs can do in your own body and mind. It can affect your own mind, can damage your brain, or sometimes it can be addicted if not used will.

Filipinos are well informed as how these drugs affect and destroy the body. But peer pressure and the ecstacy they experience is what keeps them holding on to illegal drugs until the time that they cannot longer escape it. But thanks to the new president addicts are no longer seen in our place since the pushers are one by one caught by the police. Now its much safer to walk even in the dark streets in our town. Even if Philippines is not totally a drug free country but it has greatly lessened.

I learned that people that use drugs actually is looking for something else first. It could probably be love from people they care about then they find drugs, and it acts as a numbing factor or anesthesia for the pain. It is a substitute for the lack of love. Then it's the lack of people's knowledge about God that they tend to do reckless things.

its like taking cigarettes that they can't stop even when they can't buy for themselves.  a poor homeless man smoking a cigarette on the public makes him feel like he isn't a homeless - that's how they feel in a way. he'd feel much confident to his fellow homeless.

a drug user will even announce to his peers that he just sniff a meth worth a peso and feel proud of it. so let the president do his job, the Filipinos elected him for it.

I agree with your analogy. People are longing for something maybe for warmth or just something that accepts them. They may acquire it in taking drugs, and it's bad, but sometimes you can't blame them. Unfortunately, it makes them do things that they will regret surely. It's a way to push a person off a bridge, hoping that the current government would still continue the campaign and offer help to the victims of drugs.

I do think that the Philippines is covered by the civil war. Under the guise of combating drug addiction Duterte fights dissatisfied with his rule. His attempts to befriend Russia and China will lead to the deterioration of life in the country for many years.
