that's the problem of our president because influence is really the game changer in his fight, many protectors of drugs have big influence from this countries religions, politicians and high ranks police those are the real enemy here and not the small time dealer which only getting few buck, if the president is really serious those are the people that they needed to terminate and killed so people in his nation will start to recognized its seriousness against this campaign.

Are this other responders came from the Philippines? Their replies is a shit. Do you think Duterte alone can solve this alone? FUCK! What matters here is we feel the drug activity are being lessen. Take example in my place, in the past, almost everyday there is a shabu session alongside with other drugs. And after hitting their shit level, they will do @#!@#!. Fuck isn't it? When Duterte sits, all this activity gone and we can now walk freely at night any time without worrying a drug addict will wreck us.

Stop complaining if you are from other country. Where did you get your source? As if you know the real status here!

So anyone who is addicted to a drug deserves to die in the Philippines ? .... wow just wow......

Tobacco is a drug

Paracetamol is a drug

Ibuprofen is a drug

Alcohol is a drug

Ointments are drugs

This is one of the retarded and shittiest comments here which simplifies that this guy doesn't know anything and just do posting. I don't want to respond to an obvious thing. It's like answering 1+1 = 5.

It is a legitimate comment that you are dismissing by Gizzard.  Those are drugs.  Certain drugs are legal and other have been made illegal.  The legality has nothing to do with the health or safety of the citizens.  This isn't something that you need to live in the Philippines to understand.

You seem to have a very strong opinion on drugs.  Can you tell me which drugs kill the most people?  Are they legal and easily accessible?

Of course he meant illegal drugs not just the typical drug you use for easing pain, numbing, and other kinds of sickness. There is a reason of course why it has been banned one thing is for sure that the it is destroying the Philippines through its people who use them. The reply was in very good because I think he is just referring to the title of the topic.

Yet the legal drugs are the ones that kill the most people by far.  So assuming that this dude does really care about his country and its citizens, why focus on illegal drugs?  Tobacco and alcohol kill the overwhelming majority, with legal prescription drugs coming in 3rd place.  This may come as a surprise to most people, once you put aside the stigma and illusions associated with "dangerous" illegal drugs.  Tobacco kills the most people of any drug, and is highly addictive, yet no one gives half a shit about it being legal.  Then there are naturally occurring drugs like cannabis and psilocybin which have zero deaths and aren't addictive, and the misinformed idiots form a strong opinion to keep them illegal.

I think it will be impossible for a drug free country, instead the right word is drug-less. Drugs can be minimize but cannot be eradicated most specially that those who owns these are not from Philippines and just using Filipinos like a transport mechanism.

I think that he can do it because president duterte is a man of honor and has alot of fighting spirit. The causes of the drugs supply here in the philippines is due to the corrupt politician that making use of their power to corrupt the philippines. Thank goodness that duterte eliminate them one by one thus in the near future i can see that Philippines will really be a country that is drug free.

Pardon for interfering but here is my opinion. He focus on illegal drugs because this does not only aggraviate the user but also those innocent people. Always been hearing a murder and a rape case of a grandma, mother and a daughter in one house without there father(working on nightshifts). These illegal drug user is the main cause. There are cases that even babies were raped because of them. Now I know that that tobacco smoking kill also innocent, and by that I mean non smokers, but it can be prevented, but illegal drugs effect is unacceptable and inhuman those that are affected has no control over what will possibly happen.

Rape is horrible, no debating that.  But there is no drug that causes people to rape each other.  There is an underlying psychological problem with the rapist.  I'm curious as to which drug is being used to cause rape?

There was a movie that came out in 1936 called Reefer Madness, and it was a movie about cannabis causing manslaughter, suicide and rape.  This movie got all the ignorant people afraid of the effects of cannabis through this and other types of propaganda.  So be careful of what bullshit you take as truth.  If you look outside of your own country, do you see the same phenomenon where drug users are becoming rapists?  According to that theory, countries with the most "illegal" drug use would have the highest rape statistics, but that is not the case.  It's easy to blame everything on drugs, but there is obviously much more to the story.

Drug cartels are supported by a section of the politicians. The situation is the same all over the world. Look at Philippines, Nepal, Russia, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil.etc. Without the support from the politicians, these drug cartels will nor survive.

Do something that the drug cartels quit very hard and they are under the power of the state. History has already repeatedly recalled how the United States fought with the world's major drug cartels. The results of Belgium are deplorable. Although there was a very famous butt Victory in the fight against Pablo Escobar.

The American war on drugs has been a complete failure. Look at current state of affairs in Mexico. After the Americans asked them to start the war against the drug cartels, more than 250,000 people have lost their lives. The federal government has lost control over the rural areas. The situation used to be the same in Colombia, before Santos reached a ceasefire with the FARC, despite opposition from the US.

I believe the Singapore is successful on drugs.  A strict policy with death policy as punishment madebit possible.  Foreigners who enter their country and  caught possessing illegal drugs will be punished accordingly.   I hope that the war on drugs in the Philippines will be successful.  Its people should be vigilant and support the intention of its government.

So anyone who is addicted to a drug deserves to die in the Philippines ? .... wow just wow......

Tobacco is a drug

Paracetamol is a drug

Ibuprofen is a drug

Alcohol is a drug

This will be successful IF the Government can really imprison and kill the Rich People who are behind in this Drug activities.
Can this administration do it? For the whole year of this campaign the answer is a NO, I hope for the following year
President Duterte can do this.

My GOD ! I've pointed out the apparent but obvious to you bunch defending the way this is being approached yet you can't seem to fathom what I and others are trying to explain...

Take for instance Paracetamol Forte, it is exactly that... Paracetamol mixed with Codeine, now that is a legal drug that you do not even require a prescription for, Codeine is derived from the Opioid family (From the Opium Plant) which is also used to make anesthetic in hospitals for surgery and for pain relief, so in saying that one can buy boxes of the stuff and then become addicted to it because it is an Opioid and it is still perfectly legal.

Now how is it justify-able to kill the above legal codeine user if he is addicted to the same family of stuff that hard addicts are addicted to ? He just wanted to rid his pain (Could be post-surgery) and he gets killed for it because his body has grown accustomed to it.

As the previous user freeyourmind pointed out, in many countries this is rife, Legal highs are all the rage since you can't get incarcerated for it even though it is just as dangerous.

Let us go onto the topic of Cough Syrup, it contains Dextromethorphan, you know what that is right ? A legal sedative, dissociative and stimulant.... now you can go buy a bottle from your local chemist drink a bottle of that stuff and be off your rocks like somebody who is on PCB or Bath Salts and again this is a perfectly legal Drug but people can and do abuse it.

The point I am trying to make here is that hard drugs are not always the real killers, it is the mind behind the affected individual who is !

It will never be successful.  In order for a country to be drug free, every citizen needs to be against its use.  As long as there is ANY demand for drugs, and there will be, there will be an opportunity for profit.  As always, there will be some people that will seize this opportunity and become a supplier for the financial rewards that come with it.  If you think you can kill the supplier, then another supplier will take the last one's place.  And that will go on forever.  Don't you find it odd that the countries that fight the "drug war" the most, have the largest drug cartels?  A drug cartel cannot exist, unless strict prohibition exists.  As soon as you legalize drugs, the drug cartels lose their opportunity.  Unfortunately most people don't understand this very basic concept.

Even before the death penalty was introduced for drug smuggling in Singapore, that country had very low rates of drug use. There was hardly any impact after the death sentence was implemented.

Unfortunately dude, many people here are only able to parrot the bullshit we have been fed by our grade 3 teachers.  "Say no to drugs", "Stay away, stay safe!" with a nice jingle to it lol

When I was in elementary school, they would basically have like one day a year where they'd "educate" us on drugs.  They would have a list of some of the more popular illegal drugs, plus tobacco and alcohol.  Then they'd basically fear monger you by saying if you dare try any of these drugs, you'll turn into, and they'd show a picture of video of a heroin/meth addict that had deep psychological issues (which they obviously wouldn't mention).  Basically if you smoke a joint, you're going to end up on the streets, shaking in the fetal position.

What % of the population takes the time to do research and properly educate themselves on the different classes and effects of drugs?  I'd be impressed if even 5% did.  Most people on this forum only understand legal vs. illegal.  They don't understand the difference between a stimulant and an opioid, a depressent, sedative, psychedelic, etc.  They don't understand that legal morphine is the same thing as illegal heroin.  Gladly go to the hospital and get morphine straight into the bloodstream, yet want a heroin user dead.  Victims of propaganda and ignorance.
