does this failure happen after installing second card?, how memory is available?have you set virtual memory to a min. of 16GB?
Hmmm, yes, a 16 GB swap file, but only 2 GB of 800 MHz RAM for a 64-bit OS on the two boxes that are giving me trouble. The third and similar box which worked fine (with the exception having 3 PCIe slots but not taking a third GPU) has 4 GB of 1333 MHz RAM so you might be on to something. Should Claymore need more than 2 GB and do 8 GB cards require more than 4 GB cards? I'm running 8 GB ones now but have a couple of 4 GB ones I could try...

what mobo are you using? do you have the resource cd that came with it if so run it and make sure that the chipset driver is installed.
Not sure, they're compact-case bare-bones HPs with either an Athlon qaud core or Core 2 Duo CPUs. I tried downloading and running the AMD Chipset driver package for 64-bit W10 and it said something like "system incompatible" and just exited so I'm guessing I don't need it.

I'm starting to think it's the 2 GB RAM (and maybe plus running 8 GB cards) that could be causing it. Not sure why it would work initially then stop however.... hmmm.

i have experimented and 8 gig gpu's (or at least rx480's) will not hash with 1 gig system ram.. possibly 2 gig also i didnt take notes it was more of a lark really to try.

they dont crash though just hash at 0h/s

no reason to mine with less than 4 gig ram these days. and four is enough for the hobbyist miner.
maybe it could be more of windows using up all most of the ram available,i just checked one of my rigs with four cards and its using 2.2 Gb of ram plus, and these mining rigs only so windows aero id disabled appearance is set for best performance not looks, if there is a best buy near you some of the stock ddr 3 Smiley
edit: how old is the mobo i cannot stress the importance of the chipset driver enough its a set of instructions for the os to be able properly install video audio and usb drivers.

Well, I just swapped the 8 GB card for a 4 GB one and it still crashed. Memory usage only reached about 1.6 out 2 GB so it's not running out per se. I may look further into chipset drivers, but zecminer64 was working initially so I still think there's some MB or BIOs code kicking in to protect something at some point. Better yet, I've got a Fry's nearby so I can easily pick up some extra RAM to give that a try. Hmm, also to test my MB/BIOs theory I guess I can try clearing the BIOs settings and try once more with just one card before doing a full W10 reset which I know will work, but will set me back hours and hours and hours...

Anyway I'm going to call it a day for now, thanks for the troubleshooting help. I'll pick it up again tomorrow and see if I can solve it.

You could try uninstalling MSI afterburner if you have it installed.  Then uninstall ALL of the amd packages.  Then reinstall all amd packages minus the AMD settings package.  I do not like the AMD catalyst/wattman app.  I believe it conflicts with MSI afterburner, so I do not use it.  I uncheck it in the AMD install process and if it does get installed, I remove in control panel.

I usually do this process when upgrading drivers OR flashing bios.

Also, I've found many errors on my  Windows 7 to Windows 10 upgrade systems and Windows 8 to Windows 10 upgrade systems by checking event viewer.

I usually see AMD has stopped or a service lacks permissions, etc, etc.   I've found doing the advanced reinstall option is best to resolve the internal system errors.

Your other issues could also be related to not having enough power to each video card and pci-e riser.  I typically put at least 650 watt Gold for every 3 x rx 480.  When a PSU is closer to ~50% capacity it will be the most efficient in drawing power, thus reducing energy waste.

Don't know why you'd want to use Vista? But download DDU to clean your system, run it in safe mode.

v9.1

ZecMiner64.exe -mport 0 -zpool ssl://asia1-zcash.flypool.org:3443 -zwal t1xxxx.worker -zpsw x -i 8 -dbg -1

ZEC: Stratum - connecting to 'asia1-zcash.flypool.org' <209.58.164.95> port 3443 (SSL/TLS)
Cannot establish SSL/TLS connection
ZEC: Stratum - Cannot connect to asia1-zcash.flypool.org:3443
ZEC: Stratum - Failed to connect, retry in 20 sec...
GPU0 t=30C fan=0%, GPU1 t=29C fan=0%, GPU2 t=22C fan=64%

Am I doing something wrong?

STILL CANT CONNECT SSL.

9.1 can't connect using SSL to flypool servers (tried all servers), so I have to use non-encrypted connection.

BUT, DevFee defaults to SSL, and when DevFee can't connect, my rig stops mining in the middle of the night!!

Can someone please help?

@ocminer, can't connect to suprnova with SSL. Any help?

suprnova has different port for SSL (2242 instead of 2142), did you confirm that?  Don't know about flypool.  Been mining on suprnova SSL fine, it works with or without SSL.  Perhaps strange issue with your computer, router, or internet? Maybe try different region server for pool?

well vista i have classified it about as useless as windows me what i was referring to was to be able to open device manager and select the hardware in need of drivers right click select install and browse to driver folder choose the os and click ok and then next and the driver would install without the need of wizards shields or any other third party software that always seems to leave their junk in the regestry.   Grin

v9 improved the performance/stability for me. I had one 280x that would produce random invalid data and eventually cause watchdog restarts with v8. The problem went away with v9.
All you people with stability issues should check your hardware. PSU first.

How is that Lexical analysis working out bickneleski?

I installed relive 16.12.1 driver got code 43 error.
Reverted back to 16.11.5 work perfectly

Ps. My 470s were bios modded

From what I hear, relive drivers check bios signature again like the 16.8 and before ones.....

Better stick to 16.9.x through 16.11.x

If you changed over to Windows 7 or 10 you would have to disable integrity check or get a driver that allows bios modding.  16.9.2 allows this,  16.12.1 does not.

It is an interesting idea would be to get the Free upgrade from XP/Vista/Windows 7/8/8.1  to Windows 10 by using the free accessibility upgrade being offered.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/accessibility/windows10upgrade

The caveat of Windows 10 however, is a MASSIVE attempt at invasion of privacy.   They try to log your portable devices, apps, location, programs you use, what websites you go to, and even what you say in the microphone.  Cortana and microphone was enabled by default even after I said no on all privacy related questions during a new and clean install.
I had to go back in Windows 10 turn that stuff off again.  I find it very disturbing that Microsoft can eavesdrop on millions of people around the world due to this issue.
Windows 10 machines will only be used for mining and I'm thinking of putting them on a segregated VLAN.

Hmm I have run the new Claymores v9.1 GPU miner for zcash and I am getting about a 10sol/s increase on each of my 280x GPU's (Same settings as previously used)

I haven't tested the power draw yet and compared it to V8 but if it uses more power for an extra 10sol/s than V8 then it might be better to just stick to that one and pay the additional 0.5% fee.

When in doubt, dig it out.

Is it me the only one who is getting a lot of connection failed retry to connect in 20 sec?

All my miners started doing this, and my pool stats show 30% less hashrate like this.
