That's interesting.  Wonder why that is then.

I have been told that they need more ID. Happy to supply it but now PMs going unanswered again. Sad

Feel like I'm pestering them a bit but also feel like I have the right to. If they say 4pm it should be 4pm. I would be surprised if this gets sorted today. Sad

Poor effort basically.

I have the links to a couple of instawallets that I gave away as presents. Can I somehow check if these people finished the claim process successfully?

In other words: What does this mean when I visit the wallet address: "We're sorry, but something went wrong."

Does it mean they forgot to claim or does it mean they got it and everything is fine?

The claims process has been closed.  You're too late.

Maybe try to email them.

I put in multiple claims dating back to April 11th and I still haven't heard anything from Instawallet besides the initial "Thank you for filing an Instawallet claim" emails.

I have many coins that should be returned to me and I really want them back. Mine has been flagged for review which I don't care about because the coins are mine. I'm the only one who made the claim. I have the reference numbers.

Any recommendations?

If you are still at the review stage then try and contact Davout regarding verifying your identity. This should move it to the next stage
Please DO NOT contact us unless you have a claim over 50 BTC.

PM'd you and davout this morning... I meet the criteria yet still no response.

@Davout and Boussac,

Thanks for getting this thing happening. Much appreciated...

In my case one wallet paid out, the other not - both were properly confirmed and triple-checked earlier this week at the same time.

The amount in the unpaid out wallet is small (less than 50 BTC) and there were no issues with either the original claim or subsequent verification (both were smooth sailing and both were confirmed in preparation for this Friday payout).

What is the process for sorting this out?

For the record, I seem to have been paid out in full.  It was in the 20 BTC ball-park.

Thinking back on things, I probably had some Instawallets that I experimented with and forgot about with tiny sums, or with what were tiny sums when the price was in the single digits.  I don't suppose that Bitcoin-Central will tell us what their take was from unclaimed wallets.  Hopefully they will at least be good guys and distribute such proceeds to the large wallet holders which they may or may not be able to make whole.

About the time Instawallet went down I found a stash in a plain old wallet file in the multiple hundreds (of BTC) which I had forgotten about.  A nice little surprise, and indicative of how us 'old timers' can lose track of what can eventually become a noticeable amount of value.  Thankfully I'd 'cleaned out' my Bitcoinica account before those guys took their pay-day, but I still had 2 or 3 BTC there.  At $5/BTC it wasn't a big deal but now it kind of irks me a bit that ~vess or whoever has several hundred dollars which they stole from me.

Again, I hope that when the dust settles, Bitcoin-Central can find the time to issue a credible report on all of the happenings and it would go some distance toward demonstrating that they are, on some level at least, trustworthy.

I had a wallet that I lost he URL of last year with 200btc in. At the time it was worth £600 and I just wrote it off as the warning about losing the urls was very clear.

To be honest any extra they have can be kept as they were completely upfront with this fact. However it looks like they are planning on paying out large wallets in full even though today was a write off for my main one.

I have already given ID and am happy to give more as asked but when you ask me something and I respond within 30 seconds it would be nice to extend the same courtesy.

4pm today was the supposed deadline. It is now the 20th and I am still without a large amount of my btc. If everything gets repaid I probably will forget about it but still, it wouldn't take much to respond to questions asked.

I just hope this will get sorted ASAP and will not be dragged on until next Friday. I have supplied all the info that has been asked for and there is no doubt the wallets are mine. I planned on having a great night out tonight but instead I have been stressing about my money, refreshing my phone and generally not being very sociable.

Davout and Boussac. I genuinely believe you are good guys but really hope you can understand having this much money tied up is a very stressful situation.

I think bitcoin central looks like a great service and if everything goes well I will not hesitate in using these services as trust has obviously been earnt. (Even if it was a little inefficient)

@davout and Boussac

I have a wallet that says "Flagged for Review due to multiple/conflicting claims" but both claims are mine, I got confused and claimed it twice.  Who do I contact to cancel one claim and get the payout approved for the other claim?   Do you have an email account where I can message you from both emails or something?

Just to let people know, I have received payouts on my largest wallets so everything seems to be working out OK.  I think you'll get your bitcoin eventually if you were approved for a payout.

Roughly how large are we talking? If you don't want to say then no probs. ballpark figure if you want 100-500? 500-1000? 1000+?

I got a relatively large one but my other one is bigger.

My largest wallet was in the 30 - 40 BTC range.  Nothing really big like I know some people have.

Bitcoin tx ID = 998d15b620272eb71f48cbfb9695d2a2d8a42738b62e7e348611e504acc4baa6
One of those payouts is for 11509 BTC which is $1,064,927 at todays exchange rate. Wow!

Why would anyone keep a million dollars on a completely unsecured web wallet? Or maybe thats the change address going back to Boussac and Davout for unclaimed funds? Nice little payday for them.
