For you dooms day preppers (it's on netflix), I think have enough canned food for a couple of months, and for you walking dead types have enough firearms and ammo stashed close by or on hand. Live in a gated community and have physical barriers set up.

A lot of homes in the first world countries do not have fences or are just token ones you can easily jump over. If it's legal where you live, you might want to put a cement wall on your property, as high as you are allowed to have.

The compound Osama lived in and was raided, that had decent walls. It's zombie proof and mob proof, but not government proof if some SWAT team wants to check you out.

There was a young bitcoiner called cryptotourist
Who, far from being a haiku purist
Used dodgy counting tools
Taking us all quite for fools
And telling us all about his poor wrist.

Spicy limericks over contemplative haikus any day, eh?

Syllable counting,
what haiku is all about,
such an epic fail.

I got this motherfuckers. Cool

Better count by ear,
you got it, motherfucker!
Gave you my last one Wink

Preventing that crap-sack universe by having a reasonable government, getting involved with your community, and contributing to a better tomorrow despite the fact that some (many, most) people are fuck-heads could be a better investment over becoming the king of MREs.

Well said. If the shit really hits the fan what will save us is working together not living out a Mad Max fantasy. Though personally I do tend to like the idea of being prepared enough to outlast an alien invasion. Need to merit this when I get some more.

Pah. I cannae wait to set sail across an ocean of pus and sputum. I will fish for regurgitated hospital food as I slurp my way to the high ground. I might need to boil it first.

That's wasted effort, it already comes from boils, you'll be fine.

I can't think of any canned food that I would eat. I saw some canned ham at the store...as I was holding it contemplating if things would get so bad as to need to eat ham from a can...I figured I'd rather go catch some fresh fish than have to resort to such savagery.

Update on our Israeli friends.

https://www.pharmaceutical-technology.com/news/israel-migal-covid-19-vaccine/

"MIGAL Galilee Research Institute CEO David Zigdon said: “Given the urgent global need for a human coronavirus vaccine, we are doing everything we can to accelerate development. Our goal is to produce the vaccine during the next eight to ten weeks and to achieve safety approval in 90 days.

“This will be an oral vaccine, making it particularly accessible to the general public. We are currently in intensive discussions with potential partners that can help accelerate the in-human trials phase and expedite the completion of final product development and regulatory activities.”

"Our military research labs are working feverishly around the horn here to try to come up with a vaccine. So we’ll see how that develops over the next couple of months,” Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley told reporters at the Pentagon."

While I am a big adherent to Hanlon's razor, I find that my suspension of disbelief is increasingly unwilling to explain the manifest ineptitude of governments around this contagion by mere stupidity.

Risk is a statistical measure, e.g. the expected loss of a strategy, asset or portfolio.

Not quite. Its the probability that a gain or a loss will differ significantly from what is expected.

This debate caught my interest, so I've looked through Wikipedia and glanced through Investopedia, but I haven't found an unequivocal statement about risk being a probability (pure number) or an expectation (currency units). No clear cut equation anywhere. Some pages say only downside enters the calculation, which would make a negative outcome impossible.

As a layman, I'm left thinking that the unqualified term 'risk' isn't well suited to numerical discussion. Other more precisely defined quantities might be better for that.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Still waiting for the return of Vegeta... currently $8759USD/$11700CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Another day closer to the halving, another day closer to the moon of 2021.

The trouble with that is that it kills mostly the elderly and any elderlies smart enough to own Bitcoin are probably smart enough to have plans in place for the transfer of their coins to their heirs.

Then again, many of them might just be so sickened by their lazy self-indulgent heirs that they intentionally take their keys with them to the grave to donate them to the Greater Bitcoin Benevolent Foundation.

Of course. Never attribute to stupidity what can be perfectly explained with malice.

Look harder. It's what you mainly use when sailing, and even regular land lubbers has some of it in their regular diet.
