Cmon Infofront you would be up in arms if Michelle Obama was acting SoS.  Or Malia if she was older.  So would I.  I would lose my nut if Hillary was President and appointed Chelsea as acting SoS.  You can’t tell me you believe this is ok.   Appointing close family members to the highest positions in the government is what third world dictators do.  

This sort of behavior should transcend party lines and we should all stand up against it, because it leads to tyranny.

Your outrage is understandable, but it sounds like it's a very short term stint before Pompeo is confirmed. Also, Trump has never been involved in politics before, and doesn't have a large network of trusted bureaucrats to choose from as Obama or Clinton would.

I take your point.  But this is an ideal opportunity for the 2nd in command to the SoS, whatever they are called, to step up.  They are presumably a career bureaucrat and a safe pair of hands.  

I appreciate that members of this board may not consider career bureaucrats as a safe pair of hands, but undoubtedly better than an heiress and fashion designer at negotiating with South Korea.  What this does, is send a strong signal that nepotism and cronyism is acceptable in modern US government.

I like how people claim bitcoin can't go below cost of production...except for the fact that one of the largest miners on earth (KNC) went bankrupt from exactly that happening already.  In case you haven't figured it out, it's not actually possible for the money changers to destroy gold and silver by naked shorting it; they can only short it down to cost of production and that's it.  However, it's extremely easy for the money changers to destroy bitcoin if they want by shorting it below cost of production:

You seem to be quite in touch with your understandings of the physical imagery of this interweb's back and forth that is largely related to bitcoin price dynamics and real life dilemmas.

I, for one, value your highlighting possibly short-falls and contractions in these matters, and surely, your having both teeth and a spine is likely insightful as long as we can preserve devolution of this ... because surely Rosewater and some other WO thread readers can be sensitive.

I may be toothless but I've still got lots of spine.

Got my sutures out about 10 hours ago and I'm back in a palapa in the jungle with a surprisingly good internet connection.

Next week I'm back in Playa del Carmen to get fitted for temporary dentures which I'll get the week after that.

Then I can fly back north and 3 weeks after that I can eat solid food again.
