in which Joe Ciccolo, the president of BitAML, Inc., a compliance service provider and Andrew Hinkes, an adjunct professor at the NYU Stern School of Business and NYU School of Law flounder about misunderstanding bitcoin.

561. How will OFAC use its existing authorities to sanction those who use digital currencies for illicit purposes?
562. How will OFAC identify digital currency-related information on the SDN List?

in which the USG flounders about misunderstanding bitcoin

A lot of this already happening.  OTC traders won’t accept tainted coins.  Exchanges will brick you if you send them tainted coins.  Anyone who uses tumblers is an idiot - you probably get worse than what you started with.

First ever overt ASIC Boost block. Bearish for Jihan.

Google Trends 30 day “Bitcoin” searches seem to have stabilized. Previously they have been declining since peak.  Bullish.

Careful, you know what bears do in the woods.

That line is too bouncy.  I don’t think it’s a 200 anything.

More hilarity from the Satoshi Vision conference.  Packed to the rafters with token shills.

What if owners of blacklisted addresses spray satoshis at every address in the blockchain and taint the whole thing? What if they do it quickly before any new rules are in place?

Most people haven't got the technical skills to move the clean bitcoins to a new address, and leave the dirty satoshis in the old address. They will just spend the dirty satoshis mixed to together with the clean ones.

Could this backfire? What's the doomsday scenario?

Sure. Operators of listed digital currency addresses could spray satoshis at any address they can find and essentially "taint" the entire blockchain.

After listing addresses and implementing appropriate tracking software, OFAC may find that all addresses are two or three transactions away from a listed address, and the tool becomes essentially worthless.

I'm going to start a conference called "Steve Jobs' Vision". It's going to be all about how Apple has lost it's way, and the NeXT computer was the perfect desktop computer that people should have been using all along.  I'll manufacture about 5 new NeXT computers, and take pre-orders for the rest.

I'm sure Apple enthusiasts will all trash their Macbooks and iPhones and turn out for my conference by the thousands.  Because "hur dur mah vision".  Roll Eyes

They will soon be trashing their Macbooks and iPhones anyway because of the Spectre and Meltdown chip flaws. The patches are crap and as soon as new chips are available most old Macbooks and iPhones are getting trashed, or sold for peanuts on ebay.

Not unless the NeXT computer is immune to Spectre and Meltdown like the raspberry pi. It can't be any worse than a pi, or can it?
