(perhaps why I am such a latecomer to the wall observer despite being on the forum so long, but hey this is where the action is)
Same. The forum was excellent for the first few years, but now this is one of the only decent threads in this cesspool. Edit: Your 2010 join date is impressive. I feel like a Johnny-come-lately now. Yeah, when you joined it was already too late for the party. In your own words: It's too late to get into mining if you hope to make any money.
Oh God. I do remember I was joining in the campaign of mining FUD. Difficulty was increasing very quickly, and lots of people were itching to join in.

#mempool Well, looks like whatever action that was going on with the mempool is simmering down and resolving back down to average 30 day levels. https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#1,30d I don't understand any more. All that activity and we're still sideways. I give up. Sometimes it is just a major exchange consolidating (they usually do when the action is low). Whales don't have a significant impact on the mempool and there's no particular news or price action that would justify the mass of little fishes to suddenly start moving their coins for no apparent reason.

It's funny (and interesting) to see how no matter how far you go back in time... Uncertainty has always been a companion... Which is good because otherwise the price would just go skyrocketing uncontrollably and just die on a single flash. FUD is good for stability and "organic" growth.

IMHO uncertainty has been drastically reduced. There are enough people out there who understand Bitcoin’s purpose and role that it has long since passed the “passing fad” test. This isn’t Linden dollars.

Uncertainty has been reduced for most of us because this isn't our first rodeo. People like my parents, OTOH, are pretty sure bitcoin is dead. The recovery from this bear market may change things, as all eyes have been on bitcoin since December.

Other people’s attitudes towards bitcoin now are embarrassing, my girlfriend’s parents & sister don’t have a lot of money. Last year during the big bull run they were jealous AF, asking loads of questions, asking how many I’ve got etc, asking what the fiat value was. Since the price started dropping they have the odd dig like ‘what happened to bitcoin’ , ‘ponzi scheme’ , ‘bitcoin is dead isn’t it’. I have to bite my lip, besides if I cashed in today I’d still have enough to outright buy about 4 houses of the value of the one’s they live in that they’ve got mortgages on. Peasants!

Last video of the Hodge twins they are super depressed and considering selling all at a loss. At the end even the topic of suicide emerged spontaneously.
Bullish.

Great buying indicators. I again took some of the market. Just can't resist at these prices even though I got 10 times as many (per dollar) only a few years ago. Starting to feel sorry again for the bears that just sold them to me. What is it you don't understand about Bitcoin? It is never to late to start educating yourself.

Yeah, I've stopped offering liquidity at these prices and just accumulating instead - price is looking very good (for buying)

The recovery from this bear market may change things, as all eyes have been on bitcoin since December. I would say that the whole of 2017 was pretty damned good for increased attention towards bitcoin, but the bitcoin attention when through the roof from about September 2017 to February-ish 2018.... after about February 2018, there has been some petering out of the attention, and regular people (and even some experienced bitcoiners), have gotten scared. Most of the ones who had gotten in before 2017 have enough equity built up to endure this kind of down period, but you are likely even in better shape if you had gone through a decent amount of 2014-2015. A little price action, as I type, perhaps? Broke to about $6350 in the past 5-10 minutes.
