All that said, if I had a Lambo I would gladly trade it in for bitcoins at 6k a coin. Couple of months buy it back with some bitcoin dust.

if you don't have a lambo .... than just sell the car that you do have and buy the same 6K bitcoins .... and buy it back with the same BTC dust  But if you did that in January you would still be hitchhiking today.  This is why the rich get richer, they can hold during bear markets. |

Bitmain and GMO will have to start manipulating the price upwards soon. We are getting close to the point $5,750 where an S9 doesn't even pay it's electricity costs (assuming 10c power), that will be killing their forward order book and bitmain have an IPO to sell.

I don't know, the SEC will decide on 9 ETF's within 2 months. We can see a $100-$500 dump from each delay. Altough CBOE needs a $100b market cap in order to continue their futures market, they shorted every penny out of this. |

Altough CBOE needs a $100b market cap in order to continue their futures market, they shorted every penny out of this. I sat through a monetary policy and future-of-finance lecture a couple of months ago which touched on crypto. The lecturer mostly knew his stuff on crypto but not in as much details as many of us here. He spoke for a couple of minutes on why CBOE futures market meant that btc could never become a true currency since the market is always incentivised to go short, because market players don't have to hold actual btc to participate (I'm paraphrasing, probably quite badly - I wasn't taking notes). I did quiz the guy on various parts of his presentation before time ran out and I was unable to question him on this particular issue. Putting aside my poor memory of exactly what he said, does anyone have insight into what his reasoning may have been around this? In the meantime, I'll try to find whether the lecture was recorded..... |
