BTW, if you guys are looking for a great site to extract images for meme material, check this shit out. https://www.remove.bg/Saw it on Twitter a couple days back. Some machine-learning app type thing that takes an image, and erases the background, only leaving the human behind. It's how I extracted Mr. Sutherland for the Photoshop work. It's fucking sorcery. Sheeeit ! WTF?! I imagine hundreds of little underpaid elves behind that page editing their hearts out for every upload god bless them. It's only a matter of time before they start making hats! I feel that my position as this thread's hatter is hanging by a thread. That is some serious shit. Awesome find BobLawblaw. edit: Wow no worries i guess a WO-hat has to been passed by XhomerX before its an official

From where did come this thing of the 3th January bank run? I googled but I can't find much. I think that many exchangers are running fractional reserve schemes, In 2015 I opened a thread with the title "who controls our bitcoin? We do! BANK RUN!" were I proposed basically the same thing. How can I support this initiative, besides not storing any coin on exchangers which I already do?

If exchanges are really running fractional reserve then the sooner we find out and bad actors implode the better. What impact it could have in the short term is mere speculation. I could argue both it would have a positive impact or a negative one. Or maybe a neutral one. But what I do know is that long term it would have a positive impact.
That being said, unfortunately, I don't think this initiative will have enough following to bankrupt any major exchange unless they were running crazy high levels of fractional reserve. But, I hope it will be enough to identify those bad actors by chain analysis of the impact the "bank run" have on their total reserves.
If, for example, we see that one exchange cold wallets get an impact of 40% while others (presumably more honest players) only get an impact of 5% we can extrapolate the first one is probably running fractional reserve.
As I said before, 3 January (and the days before) is probably the riskier day to have your bitcoins stored in an exchange. Everybody can do what he feels like, but don't say you haven't been warned well in advance.
If you are gonna follow and withdraw your bitcoins, my advice is to start already and make sure you are out before end of year.
Also some people have argued that this a bad moment to do this because of "bear market".... on the contrary it is the fucking best moment as it allows the exchanges to cover their ass buying the bitcoins needed to fix their balances for cheap. In a bull market it would be probably impossible and start a much worse domino effect.
@realerre you can support the initiative by informing others about it. As simple as that.

Today I will mostly be plucking a goose. Wish me luck!
Assuming that is not a euphemism, good luck. I have only ever prepped and cooked ready plucked ones. If you haven't cooked goose before, one thing to watch is the huge amount of fat a goose seems to contain. So have a deep tray and take care when getting it out of the oven. I stumbled a little with the pan once, the goose shifted and the entire kitchen floor was instantly a pool of fat. EDIT: Good choice - much better than a boring, tasteless and dry turkey. Enjoy! Thanks no I've got used to it over the years. Glad to hear there's another aficionado here, it's just so tasty compared to even the best turkey. Even better, it doesn't go that far, so we can't have a massive party. Her name was Geraldine, and she was a good goose.

fuck you jjg waves is the future also agi
do you like my hot tip?
I don't understand how your point is a "fuck you" to me. First: I largely don't make BTC price predictions beyond proclaiming that the odds are 50% (or plus or minus 1% to 10% of such 50%), and mostly my activism in this thread amounts to just criticizing the BTC price predictions of others, especially when those others are coming off as more certain about BTC price than me. B: I need moar splainin regarding the basis of your criticism of me because I not as witty as u. Critcal Activism is a vital function. I seem to find myself doing a lot of it. Good policing improves the whole quality of the thread. Sure, guys and gal can post whatever they like here. There are quite a few active participants in this thread, who will repeatedly call bullshit with regard to patterns of behavior, and certain dinsingenuine posters do seem to go away or modify their tune a bit, which leaves only the extreme cases for infofront to deal with or the banning/suspending of the administrators. I do agree with you that the quality of this thread does come off as relatively decent on a substantive level (maybe our own little secret? Don't tell anyone!!!!) because there is a lot of good content... even if having to sort through nearly 10 pages per day, and sometimes more than 40 pages per day during busy periods... maybe even 1 out of 6 posts or so are decent, depending on perspective? In other words, I believe that the ratio of quasi-genuine posts to troll/shill posts in this thread tends a bit higher now than it was a couple of years ago.

Yawn. Another morning, another check at the charts. $4070 or so, while better than 3k it's still kind of meh compared to last year. But a lot better than 2k so there is that.
Gosh, if we look at yearly averages, or price low points over the years, we are doing really well. Of course, if we look at yearly high points, then currently we could become depressed when we consider last year, but looking at last year's price high point in order to measure current feelings seems to be merely causing our own self-inflicted internal misery.
