talk rivaling Mr Wordy...

Whoa, Well, from that viewpoint it seems pretty complicated. But if I make an analogy with the development of Linux maybe in the long term there will be GUI`s more user friendly like Ubuntu

Yes.  This is my point basically.  That it *is* still overly complex for prime time.  But on the other hand some of the mobile wallets with neutrino are getting pretty killer.  Breez or Phoenix for example.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

There's much more to this, but i'd need "JJG superpowers of texting" to express all this in a meaningful way, i guess Cheesy

Maybe you could hire JJG as your personal wordsmith.

This would likely make things worse, because it'd be still me having to explain him what's the matter on each topic.
No, this is not the same thing.
Or you just tried to be ironic, maybe?  Wink

Exactly, OOM...   Getting me to convey your ideas is NOT likely to work out, swimmingly..... largely because of the dynamic of jojo's earlier posted meme....

This is great... Everything sounds better with a NYC accent. The amount of spittle that flew from his mouth could fill a Dixie cup. But I mean, it makes perfect sense to me, and I don't even have mortgage payments.

Every taxpayer can relate to this, no matter where they live.

Haha, love it. "Do the right thing you peckerheads!"
"Peckerheads" Haha it was alien word to me before.

outstanding!

how do I vote for this guy?

First, people need to accept that they voted for the wrong Newyorker.  Tongue

I´m about to puke..

We dont deserve this 2 days before halving..

Welcome to the club. Want some more puke-cocktail?

Hahahahahaha

You are lying mindrust. #nohomo.  Wink You do not feel bad about our recent dramatic BTC correction.   No way, jose.

Any kind of dramatic BTC correction should be making you feel MOAR better than you had (almost even on a path towards self-righteousness), and if we could do another 50% or more correction from here, then you will feel even moar better than that.

I would ONLY hope that if the rest of us have to suffer through another 50% BTC price correction in the coming weeks or months, then at least you should do us a favor in at least jumping mostly back in... even if you only come in 50% to 75% and save the rest of your fiat, just in cast this baby corrects even further than another 50% from here, at least many of us will feel better that you have been kind of saved (even if you end up losing some of your previous position, you would not becoming close to a nocoiner like, roach, jonoiv and stolfi).

I don't recall ever engaging in this thread.

I'm like the lone hero that walks through the store letting out a silent but deadly, walking out before anyone knows what just happened.

Not a good sign, Elwar.

Delusions of self-grandeur tends to be the downfall of a lot of otherwise decently good peeps.

Anyone following the halving trend knows Bitcoin takes a dip early halving cycle. $10k was also obvious resistance for the perfect drop.

I'm not sure why I have to keep bringing this up for every "crisis" but...if you people that hate freedom would quit using every crisis as an excuse to institute even more tyranny (like you did with the last crisis) then those of us who love freedom wouldn't be fighting you on this.

You could say "hey gang, this virus is bad...we should all socially distance" and we'd be like..."that sounds reasonable, we can do that temporarily then get back on with things as they were before". The crisis would pass, things would go back to normal.

But instead it's "hey dissenters, stay at home or we'll arrest you...also we need to institute a new normal where drones are flying around monitoring everyone and we're spending $1 trillion a week while deciding who can work and who cannot"...to the response of "fuck your crisis...we don't believe anything you say".

Remember that for the next crisis...because you'll care oh so much about people in the next crisis too and we will yet again not follow along with your ideas about how "everybody should do X".

This is actually a great formulation of my thoughts from another direction.

I often come into conflict with folks approaching from the "conservative" side whose logic seems to be;

if - crisis is being used to consolidate power

then - crisis is made up bullshit

Sorry, but this logic does not hold water.  Rahm Emanuel's infamous chestnut is perhaps the most flagrant illustration that the powers that be will, in fact, use ANY crisis, conjured or terrifyingly real to further their designs.

Elwar, I accept your thesis that the forces of neoliberal globalism have squandered their credibility through repeated exploitation of crises.  I further accept that this complicates our response.

Do you accept that some of these crises may, in fact, be real??

I accept that those that support freedom need to downplay the crisis out of necessity. I also accept that those that support tyranny need to unnecessarily overhype the crisis.

Hence, you go up and down your Facebook page and see the same people posting low COVID death numbers who also post links to how maybe Iran didn't do <insert bad thing the US claims they did to push for WW3>.
The same people screaming about millions of possible deaths are the same ones that say that the PATRIOT Act was a perfectly reasonable response that is still necessary 20 years after 19 individuals orchestrated an attack.

People would not need to downplay the numbers if they knew that those that want to control their lives were going to try to use the crisis to control their lives. People who want to control your life would not be overhyping the numbers if they had some dogs they could torture to keep their appetite satiated for power.

Now...if people who truly are all about this COVID thing being an actual true threat that they believe in their hearts is going to end humanity (and they get past the fact that they don't really care about humanity going away)...then they should propose free market solutions that would give people more freedom while fighting the virus.

Propose ways to save lives and save us from a deadly virus while at the same time decentralizing power and empowering individuals. If you care...this is what you do.

"Propose ways to save lives and save us from a deadly virus while at the same time decentralizing power and empowering individuals. If you care...this is what you do."
That's the dream brotha!

Interesting article which helps explain the difference in how Democrat and Republican voters perceive the threat from coronavirus.

Objectively speaking, the urban / rural divide has led to very different experience with Democrats more likely to suffer from the virus directly, and Republicans more likely suffer indirectly from the lockdown measures.  This has tended to exacerbate the partisan divide.

Please note that the CFR rate says nothing about people who are permanently crippled by C19 even if they live. I have not seen good numbers on this, so this is just speculation based on papers written by Wuhan doctors.

The Imperial College model is quickly becoming less important now that we are starting to get real world data to work with.

Whole countries went by that model, now it's less important?
Totally important.

As you said, starting to get real data.
By next year maybe we will know, and then we can talk about numbers.

Hm?

Europe is a corona hotspot.
Tourism makes 10% of the greece gdp so it was expected that they would also get hit heavy by corona.

You should read the whole article.

We were talking about the countries mentioned in the article you posted, specifically Greece, so leave Europe out of this.
Officially tourism makes around 20% of Greece's GDP for the last 20 years, but if you take into account that Greeks love to avoid taxes, and also take into consideration the businesses associated with the tourist industry, you will find that the number is closer to 30%, and possibly more.

One third my man.
You are right that I did not read the whole article. How could I? The crap continues:

Quote
Getting Greece’s health care system back on its feet, though, may have proven the most decisive action. The country has increased the amount of intensive care unit beds it has available by 70 percent since February and has added over 3,000 hospital staff to deal with an expected influx of patients. Thousands more positions are open for people to fill, showing the resources Athens has put behind reconstituting health care in the country.

Greece has done so well that it’s already asking tourists to come to the country for the summer months. That worries some experts, as having people walk about the country could further spread the disease. What’s more, testing isn’t widespread in Greece, and the ability to keep tabs on a larger outbreak might put the country in danger in the future.

We have more staff, but no testing, so yeah, be my guest. Tongue

I'll say it again, the article is total bullshit. All major hotels will not even open this year.
