Just want to make sure we are still able to pay in BTC, just arranged for some today but there is a long lead time that I cannot cancel now. The last few lines of your post have me a bit worried Steamboat.

There are a multitude of parts and processes involved in producing a product such as this. Each component must work in conjunction with the others in order to be successful. There are always hiccups along the way, and it is my job to ensure those hiccups do not get the project off track. I am painfully aware of the irony of a bitcoin mining hardware company not being able to accept bitcoin, and have been working feverishly to try to avoid this situation. I underestimated the amount of time needed to integrate the bitcoin payment system with our shopping cart software, and am now paying the price. For this I apologize, and assure you will not happen again.

Instructions regarding assembly purchase will be made available the moment they are finalized. The payment gateway will be handling the payment conversion.

The process for any additional fees incurred from receipt of the Avalon chips has not changed, and will be distributed evenly based on chip purchase amount.

The shipping fees will be known early this week.


The Klondike is being verified for overclock ability, and several possible solutions have been suggested to increase it's potential. Each of the options does increase the cost of the board slightly, either from higher rated components or additional board size, or both. Some of them are minor, some are not. This additional cost will not be passed on to the end user. The base board design has been tested by several different sources and has passed, and the majority of the parts will stay the same. Lead time can be affected, and will increase the cost of PCB manufacture to ensure delivery before Batch 1. This cost will not be passed on to the end user.

The BOM has changed multiple times already. Sometimes due to scarcity, sometimes due to redesign.

The post linked lends itself to staggered delivery. We will plan for both possibilities.

By tested do you mean electrical connectivity and not design?
The current PCB board for the K16 will most likely need some changes.
As far as I know the design still has not been proven.

If we choose the hosting option, what are the terms or requirements to get the miners back later? E.g., say I purchase a miner now and elect to have it hosted. What happens if I later want the miner delivered to me? Is there a min/max hosting period? Are there any costs other than the ongoing 8% + electricity costs?

My Campbx bitcoin widthdraw won't be functional until the 5 or 6th of July. I already have my BTC sitting in there just waiting to transfer out but I haven't hit the 30 day waiting period yet for Dwolla deposits. I ordered 64 chips and I want the "Fully assembled units" for $133.50... So how screwed am I since your deadline is the 30th?

Any ideas for UK residents? 

I'm likely to be 2 weeks or so away from funds... I've emailed SB but he hasn't had time to reply yet. I am in batches 4 and 5 and assumed at the time that we would be paying broadly in line with when the batches were purchased. That's the problem with assuming stuff though...

I understand that SB would want to do a bulk buy of components to keep costs down, but only giving a week to prepare for a £1600/$2500 ish outlay puts me in a difficult situation. If I hadn't read the forum, I might not have heard about it until the email coming out shortly once SB sorts that out, because I haven't had any others before then except the ones confirming purchase of the chips a while ago.

My experience was 3 days plus 3 days will depend on your bank.  I said *just* :-).

Or, if you're feeling particularly lucky, you can try BitInstant.com. The fees are high, and they are notorious at the moment for problems, but you get the coins fast. You pay cash at a Moneygram location, and get your bitcoins in just a couple of hours. Great service when it works. But the fees are 3.99% + $3.95 flat rate for each transaction.

Just as a full disclaimer: Not only do I NOT work for bitinstant.com in anyway, I don't even like them as a company. I've gotten VERY poor customer service in the past, and their support thread here is riddled with complaints - some of them from me. With that said, I reluctantly still use them when I have to. And honestly, the vast majority of transactions have gone through without a hitch. I actually had to use them recently to fund for this upcoming assembly order, and my other options weren't fast enough :/

You'd be best emailing asicbuy@gmail.com and explaining this to SB. I have had a couple of replies now from him on this very subject, and he appears very reasonable. YMMV though!
