You guys are 100% correct. and yes I have registered every single piece of gear I have I have pretty much the same setup - 2nd breaker box with 2x30amp 240v, to two 30amp plugs, to two 30/24amp PDU's, which are about 20-22 amps used each. My air circulation is actually pretty good unless its really hot outside. My garage door is open (maybe 4 inches, its locked in place) with animal/bug screens everywhere. I have a good fan pulling air (i need silent fans too) in from the bottom of the garage door (its covered with cardboard to cover more than the fans surface area). A similar fan is as you can see placed in the window exhausting the hot air. I have a work room next door, so when its hot I open that door, close the work rooms door to the rest of the house, and open another window. In winter the whole house is heated with the rigs. cost me 150$ of heating oil last year. And I live in Quebec. There is no way I could have so many rigs if i didnt have the air circulation I have, and EVEN THEN its a stretch. I'll try to fix something up for the PSU's, I checked and yes one or two of them are quite hot, thanks. I understand why you dont want to fill your house with rigs, its not really a good idea for the heat.

I simply don't do this I put gear in the solar array and in my friends office.
The solar array is 9k to 13k
I'm curious about this... what does your friend with the solar array get out of the arrangement? Do you split the profits of those miners with him, or is he just a good friend and has excess solar kVa he'd like to bleed off?

there is a side of seasonic 1250xm that gets hot like when you touch it you would remove your hand immediately, that side I would not dare lay it flat on a surface...other PSU are of different make and build but still..you get the idea.
The side away from the fan - but if you have it on a metal shelf it's a GOOD idea to lay it flat, as the shelf will help dissapate the heat some. Wood or any other insulator, flat would be bad. The way my setup works, all the PS are on their sides though for space and air management reasons so it's not an issue either way.

I am in NJ we have good rules to sell excess power back to the grid.

I understand why you dont want to fill your house with rigs, its not really a good idea for the heat. i WOULD LOVE to open my garage door a bit but it just invites thieves, my garage is detached behind my house so i have no visibility of what happens there. Its ridiculous hot in there right now miners constanly going down and I cant add any more gear as was the plan before until winter. I wish i had the skills to install and Exhaust fan the roof mount blast type used in restaurants myself, I might just have to give it my best shot. Thinking of doing a wallmount version of this to bring in cool dust filtered air , it also has the option for an interal evap cooler as well https://www.captiveaire.com/catalog/genpartCatalog.asp?catId=108then this unit on the room of the garage 8000CFM at .20 SP https://www.captiveaire.com/catalog/genpartCatalog.asp?catId=473roof is not flat so not sure how this would work , probbaly need some sory of angled roof curb Anyone have any experience installing units like these ? or links to videos , I know i'f have to get an electrician to hook the units up to power of course

I live in a nice place though, no thieves....if there were thieves they wouldnt be able to get the garage door open nor go under it, its bolted...wont move But I agree its kinda...weird looking. suspicious. Im actually out of work right now so Im pretty sure all my neighbors think im a drug lord or something since im always at home or walking my dog. ironic cause I was joining the RCAF, but after passing all the tests and selection successfully, suddenly got fucked over some pressure in the eyes. whatcanyoudo. The roof exhaust is a great idea. Its not that hard to do, but get a roofer he'll do a good job. depending on how the wiring is, you could hire an electrician - it wouldnt be a long job, maybe an hour IMO. If you dont care about the noise though, I think those things are loud. 8000cfm will be more than enough.

Good idea on the roofer, I think I'll order the unit next week as long as the provide a curb for a non flat roof type. bolting down the garage door is also a good Idea, my fear is they metal garage door is kinda thin, It would be realy loud but it could be kicked in if somone was derrmined, need to figure out what kinda of company to call to permannetly bolt down and reinforce the garage as well. what kind of mesh did you install under the gap in the door and how many inches high above the ground are you ? sorry about all the questionz

garage door insulation adds panels that really make it tough to break in compared to a bare door; but with a standard garage roolup door, you are as secure as the metal is thick.... keep it in mind. At worst, making a false wall to block off the most of the garage opening until the day its needed to be removed... if they do force the door open; they reach a hard barrier. you could use concrete bolts to bolt it down too.
A nice secure metal air inlet vent on an exterior garage door (normal person door), and a roof vent should be easy to use for air management. Might consider that as an option. Watch the Linus Tech Tips "server room overhaul" on youtube to see what type of secure vent they used.... and give the concept.

many ways to let the garage door take in air my garage door has locks and I can open the door about 4 or 8 or 12 inches a four inch gap 8 feet wide is big it will let in a lot of air. 4 x 96 = 384 square inches so a 16 inch round hole is pi r squared or 8 x 8 x 3.16 = 202 square inches so this gable vent does 1600 https://jet.com/product/detail/f75c59f876984cd0af99c8dc936e974c?http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/81/81c5de79-6eab-48cb-af6b-3362f08bf5a3.pdf2 of them do 3200 and are about 400 sq inches you have a piece of gear that does 8000 cfm so if your garage door is 8 ft it needs to be 8 inches but if it is a 2 car door garage only 4 inches is needed

I used the strongest bug mesh I could find basically, and fixed that in a secure way to 2x4 under the garage door to the garage door. Under the 2x4 is a water protector (rubber thing) so water cant get in the open door. about 4 inches of air can get through. 8 inches would be better. Yeah those vents are perfect, air flow would be more than adequate.

I have a question about the 2400 watt server PSUs with dual breakout boards. Is that PSU built as 2 separate PSUs in one housing, with 1200 watts allocated to each breakout board? Or is it 2400 watts that can be broken up in different amounts, ie. 800 watts on one breakout board and 1600 watts on the other breakout board? *I know you shouldn't run 2400 watts through it, I'm just keeping the math simple. **I am referring to this exact PSU --- http://www.parallelminer.com/product/delta-2400watt-power-supply-platinum-94-200-240v-dps-2400ab/ Thanks!

Why not just go direct to a "window-mount" type evap to start with? Also, you don't need fans on BOTH intake and exhaust, the only thing that does is waste power to drop backpressure a LITTLE, it has almost no effect on airflow unless you have a VERY restricted airflow path (like the inside of a S9 miner).

Well in the winter here it gets quite cold so bringing in cool air has helped alot in my basement , I was thinking of the same concept for the garage, Maybe like phil said Ill just use the intake fans and use gravity exhuasts vents up top, I really dont want to fiddle with the garage door much Its kind of a secluded area so I dont want to give anyone an incentive to even think about taking a look at what I have going on. Plus i have a huge power mast on the garage which already attracts alot of attention. The intake would be only active when the weather is cool enough to take advantage of it. I will probably take peoples advice and start with the rooftop exhaust. Just need to find and installer and some soor of barridcade as suggested for the garage door. Its metal , would probably be hard to kick in but there are no locks on it so I suspect it could be pried open and there is a small gap around a quarter inch from where it hits the ground , which i had to cover up with ductape to keep out dust and bugs, Ill find some time this week to upload some pictures.

A big mean looking dog would keep away casual snoopers and petty burglars. Actually anything much bigger then a healthy cat will keep most sane people away. I'm not sure if that's an option for you, but a good dog is a wonderful crime deterrent.

That's what I thought from looking at it, but short of tearing it apart I wasn't sure. Being able to have more then 1200 watts through one breakout board is the main issue, but it sounds like that shouldn't be an issue in this case.
