Yup - one on its way to Phil.

I am halfway setting up the boards for the remaining P106 that I got previously (18 pieces) so 3 x 6-P106 rigs with 2 x 1500w HP or 1 x 2400w Delta, and 1 x EVGA1000-G3 to power up the 3 x onboard SATA. Got sidetracked due to my travel commitments, but should be able to continue working on the rigs this week.

Is Onda a Biostar branding for Asian markets? We have done well with all of our Biostar motherboards this year, so if they are the ones that actually produced this D1800 it makes me allot more confident that it will work as advertised.

I do think that 8 slot Colorful motherboard (forgot the model name) that has been shown recently looks the most enticing, but these D1800s look slick too. --- Does anyone know of a case/frame that has been designed to fit these?

My thinking too. 8 slots is denser than 6, obviously.

I don't think the Onda board is a rebrand of Biostar. They're their own small manufacturer.

Go back a few pages, I posted info about a case for the Onda board, thought that case might restrict what GPUs you can use due to GPU size...

I ordered a test unit awhile ago but it got lost in the mail and courier blamed a technical glitched when the package with my name contained a GPS unit with car mount instead. After 3 weeks chasing them to find the other guy who had my package -- gave up.

Anyways - 8 concurrent 1x streams on a single 16x PCI lane ?? That's a mouth full and further invitation to potential PCI lanes limitations, special drivers, compatible with Windows. Maybe possible in Linux. Anwyays, the search goes on for full 16x slots, like the 6 and 8 x full PCI mobos  we are discussing here on the thread.

I have  4 water cooled cards and the zotac 1080 mini  along with an asus 1080 ti blower card


so

1)1080 ti wc +

3)1080 ti wc +
4)1070 wc    +
5)1080 ti      +
6)1080 ti mini

I could keep that cool .


this is possible  but not likely.

I may shoot for  a few variations of setups.

my cards on hand are :

 6x 1080 ti's
 1x 1070
 1x 1050ti

rest are at the solar array and my friends office.

these are 3x  rigs using 2 1080ti's   keeps gear cool and quiet and as it is in his office  it  needs to be quiet  6 cards using 1000 watts to do about 3400h  for zcash

Seems UK pricing is a lot closer to US for Vega than it is for 1080Ti.

For the records, Vega hashes easily at 1800 h/s on Cryptonight. Some have reached 2000 with custom tweaks. That's 2.5 times RX570 for less than 2.5 times the price AND power draw.

The ratio is only that good for XMR now, that's true. Maybe more potential can be unlocked for other algos, too early to tell.

 I'd pretend to be impressed but old Windmill-type servers with 4x Xeon E5-2650 CPUs can come VERY close on the hashrate for a lot less $$ (as low as $315 + shipping depending on drive and video options picked through https://www.theitmart.com/system/servers/other/1u-rackmount/quanta-windmill-open-compute-f03c-2-node-1u-rack-server-s-594).

 MUCH higher power usage though - probably about 500 watts for a full 4-CPU dual-node system with 4x 95 Watt TDP CPUs.

 I'm seriously considering replacing my A2's with some of these when the A2s are no longer profitable, if Monero profitability holds up fairly close to where it's been lately.

 Definitely Vega is a lower-cost per hash option than Threadripper or Epyc at that 1800+ figure.


 Zotac Mini is long enough to block part of the blower air intake for the ASUS Turbo - might want to go with a MSI or Gigabyte ITX instead if you have one, THOSE do leave the opening for the blower intake clear.

Another thing to consider for some would be fan noise and heat generation.  Also for large farms they would be easy to stack it seems.  I wonder if the PSU will work on 120v as well.  More competition for Bitmain is better for consumers.

1) With the emphasis on it being a home miner, hints at a design focused on running quieter. Note the use of water cooling and one 6200 rpm fan. Higher audio frequencies are easier to attenuate, especially if you are not using the case and it's support as a sounding board. They have eliminated one fan.

2) 190 vs 189 chips. So the performance per chip is roughly the same, except going to 14nm saves about 300W. Less heat generated helps the design goal of less noise.

So the major metric for this unit is noise reduction. If it can truly function "quietly" in the home, this is certainly a new market, a consumer one and one that BM can't address right now. This is also the reason why the power supply is integrated into the unit. Additionally, the integrated software to mine higher return coins adds to ease of use.

On paper it looks like a well focused effort to sell miners to home users with probably the ease of use of a TV. Probably too early to call it a scam.

How well does the Zotac Mini do with cooling a 1080 Ti? We have some of the 1070s with that cooler and they do well, but at about half the power consumption.  That's a nice price in any case of course.

 While the Mini form factor works well on a 1080, the 1080ti is a big enough jump in power usage I'd be seriously worried about it's cooling.



 GMO's "mining card", IF it ever actually gets created, is at best a year and more likely 2-3 years away.
 As of right now it's little more than a roughed out concept since it's intended to use 7nm tech that doesn't EXIST yet (outside of possibly early LAB prototype work).
