i'm trying to find out exactly what "sign deal" means in terms of exclusivity. sounds to me like "no other ASIC manufacturer will be allowed to purchase Seasonic PSU's in bulk for Bitcoin mining". hence higher costs and lower quality for competitors.

Doubt it. Even if hashfast needed 2000+ PSUs... seasonics market is... huge. SS is larger market cap wise than all of BTC.

Higher cost and lower quality? Doubtful. While Seasonic makes excellent power supplies, there are many other companies that do the same. Even if Seasonic itself was exclusive, you could just go buy these and call it a day.

don't get me wrong, but shouldn't have such things (contracts with manufacturer and PSU supplier) happened months before? Based on my training and experience it seems we are at the beginning of chapter 6 of the ASIC-manufacturers field manual, "Delay, Smoke and Mirrors".
next to come
Chapter 7: "Put all orders "in production" to close the refund backdoor." Chapter 8: "Launch the cool Chip-Gen. 2/3/4 or 150% more hashrate upgrade-offer, delivery in 3 months." and finally Chapter 9: "Final Refund -50%: Custom made good!"
I hope not.

How convenient. For KNC.
Then they should have been charging much less than they were. That didn't stop Avalon from shipping psu's with my order. Came without a hitch or extra charge.
HashFast never promised Sea Sonic PSUs. We could have used cheaper ones and improved our profit margin. That's why it's fair to say HashFast "picked up the tab" for premium quality power. The Golden Nonce is the Rolls-Royce of ASICs, so we are including the Cadillac of PSUs with it. So I see the rendering of the Sierra has been up dated on the HF website. When can we expect a more accurate rendering of the BabyJet?

Since you are allowed to post the same thing in 2 threads i will do the same. Really??? prweb.com? Last time when i saw them was this: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2012/6/prweb9611889.htmWhat real company who raised 20 mil $ (correct me if i'm wrong) in pre-order phase releases something like this? Also...they signed an agreement to buy off the shelf PSUs? Because i don't think they will design a CUSTOM PSU. What a bunch of crap...

Sea Sonic Electronics Co. Ltd (‘Sea Sonic’) and HashFast Technologies LLC (‘HashFast’) announced today that they have signed an agreement for Sea Sonic to produce power supplies for HashFast’s Bitcoin mining systems. ---
to produce? Two days before delivery of the finished product? Another rocket/bullet run? Sorry, but lol?

Guys, i've yet to understand to what date we have to sum this week of delay to. 17 of october? 25 of october? 30 of october? And what's this expensive (for our pockets) component? Are you running out of capacitors? (avalon did, remember?)
Up.

Also...they signed an agreement to buy off the shelf PSUs? Because i don't think they will design a CUSTOM PSU. Contracting for a lower price by agreeing to a volume is pretty common in the business world. Both sides win (and likely have compensation if agreement is not lived up to). No need for a custom unit if stock units fill the need.

LOL, not the kind of PR you want. Especially when your product is due in 2 days.. I believe they have PSU's at most retail outlets. I like the way KNC went about things, PSU related

They could've just sign with them and cash the discount I think the intent is intimidation. By claiming success in contracting various parts of the industry you discourage competitors from entering the market and thus are more likely to establish a leadership role. It is interesting when you compare it to PR strategies of other companies though (e.g. ASICMINER) which tend to keep silent about their operational infrastructure, the latter one known for biting without a bark. We have yet to see the bite strength of companies like Hashfast.

I'm looking on December Sierra for $6,300 - nice price. I'm wondering about the following (...) Purchase 10 Sierras and HashFast will include a free 1U rack mounted control unit. (...)
System Specifications (...) Requires a 1U control unit
(...)
I do not want to buy 10, but maybe 1 or 2 sierras. How much does the 1U control unit cost ? How much power consumption for the controller unit ? Has it 2 Ethernet ports, USB ports ? edit: How will it be connected to the miners in order to control them ? And regrading the Sierra itself, I'm wondering about the approximately noise level. Thanks in advance.

Has it 2 Ethernet ports, USB ports ? edit: How will it be connected to the miners in order to control them ? I don't believe HF is selling a control unit seperately the 1U control unit is simply a "free" upgrade if you buy 10 Sierras (nicely fills an entire rack). The Sierras have a single USB port connection on the back. Any system (capable of running cgminer) can be used as a host/controller. There isn't anything particularly special about the "1U controller" it is simply an entry level 1U server. You could buy your own "off the shelf". Even an Atom server w/ 2GB of RAM likely more than enough computer "oomph" to run cgminer for as many modules as you want to connect. If you have more Sierras than USB ports just use a USB hub. Even if it isn't available for sale maybe HF can share the specs (processor, RAM, HDD, etc) for the controller to help customers find an equivalent. Still I imagine the requirements are modest. This is likely overkill. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816101365

Hardware wise it looks like the BJ and Sierra are going to be stellar. HF has made all the right decisions so far (at least on paper) with a full custom ASIC on 28nm with thermal controls, watercooling, high quality PSU, modular boards w/ USB that can use any controller etc. So I'm really happy about that.
All of this is moot however if there are significant delays. The network difficulty is rising with 40% every 2 weeks now. Perhaps the 3 month MPP timer should kick in at the original announced shipping date set at 0 BTC until delivery? This would provide an incentive to prevent further delays.

that is a great idea, cause at this point even with the mpp im quite doubtfull that it is possible to make our bitcoins back

I think they already have plenty of incentive to avoid delays, and I will continue to give HashFast the benefit of the doubt until any major promises aren't kept. If it ever came to a point where ROI + a reasonable return cannot be delivered within the MPP's 400% clause, then I'd say the more workable fix would be to raise the ceiling on the MPP to provide whatever hashing power is necessary to recoup customer investment (especially early customers), including consideration for unavoidable customer costs (i.e. electricity and, for MPP miniboards, cases, power supplies, etc). In other words, for customers that buy the MPP, and after taking into account reasonable customer expenses, if in order to achieve profitability it ultimately requires five, six, seven, or more additional ASICS, rather than the current MPP pledge of one to four ASICs, then I hope that HashFast is willing to go that extra mile. After all, HashFast says that "We want our customers to succeed", and that "prosperous customers make for a healthy and prosperous company". A customer that fails to achieve ROI clearly is not succeeding nor engaged in a prosperous business. But before going down that road, you've got to give HashFast a chance to deliver. And I am encouraged that they will.

It's highly unlikely that the up to 400% MPP will make a difference. You might get 100%, but that hashrate 3+ months in the future are worth about 1/10th the starting rate. So the MPP is worth a boost of about 10%. Hardly going to make the difference in ROI.
