There is a new coin on coinmarketcap.com just below NXT in market cap and that is Auroracoin.  If you don't know about Auroracoin, you should take a minute and read some about it.  It is a litecoin clone that is about to become an official government currency for Iceland.  Without going into gory details, the banking system in Iceland has had huge problems over the past few years and the government is desperate to engineer a reboot.  Thus Auroracoin.  It has a 50% pre-mine that is being held in trust and will be given out to the people of Iceland in 25 days.  They are encouraging activity to get tools in the hands of Icelanders to allow their easy use of this new currency.

What is the fastest blocktime you think we can get with performance controlled hallmarked servers?

That depends upon the network topology which isn't even known - basically you'd have to measure these things "in the wild" to even roughly work this out.

P.S. Is the internet inside China also slow, or is it just going in and out of the Great fireWall of China that is slow?

Our TV has WiFi and we can watch high quality movies here (many for free) so inside of China it is very fast (am only using 2M standard home connection).

That GCF is mostly automated now btw and does detect encrypted traffic (which is generally when it "slams on the brakes") and it gets "smarter" every year (most standard VPS services don't work here now).

Since we are doing 60 second blocks now, it seems that speeding it up to 30 second blocks shouldnt be too hard. Probably 10 seconds will require using just hallmarked nodes with guaranteed high speed access. Sounds like for China, there would need to be a few special tunneling servers. Not great from centralization, but as long as traffic inside China is fast, we can bridge (tunnel) it to the faster internet outside of China.

Last I heard, NXT block content is not encrypted, if this is the case that sounds like it is a good thing for China. If some AM's are encrypted do you think that would trigger GCF?

I'd guess that he at least knew the relationship between the dates, even if he didn't intend for it to mean anything.

Btw why do you say that BCNext can no longer prove identity now that the genesis account passphrase has been discovered? Wouldn't sending a transaction from his BTC address 1BCN... have the same standard of proof as a tx sent or auth token created from genesis acc?

I will be releasing a test version of automated multisig gateway this weekend. It doesnt quite work the way you describe, but it achieves the same result and with better security. You establish a BTC account for withdrawals and get assigned a custom deposit address.

Can you say more about security?

Yes, it is centralized gateway with need of trust to owner of private key of address B.

Hard to say - but quite likely that it would - it tends to also do things like "ban you for 30 minutes" randomly.

With respect: this is a glib, bullshit answer, and you can't prove the "most of us" part any more than you can prove the "BCNext did math analysis" part.

Three months in and we have no Whitepaper, no documentation of algorithms, and no modelling or statistical analysis.

The greatest irony of the great decentralized Nxt Ecosystem is that its core is centralized in an opaque, anonymous identity who only communicates to the world through a Belarusan Java programmer on contract.

One day soon, Nxt will be called out for this. It is Nxt's biggest flaw.

The problem is communication, my friend. What's not in the source code is WHY things were built the way they were, or what BCNext's expectations are for the community, or a plan that isn't communicated in one-line forum posts once every 20 forum pages.

What's missing from BCNext is a commitment to communication and transparency towards the very community that have turned his 6000 lines of Java into actual potential.

There is no such thing as too much communication. BCNext is a fine example of the opposite.
